    I'm a recovering addict Ive been into computers for years but got into Linux and raspberry pi during COVID, I had one that got broken during a move from a homeless shelter and haven't been able to afford a replacement yet, but still going strong and drug free (over half of my life i spent as a heroin addict so this is big for me) i still practice linux on a emulator app on my android phone i use termux and userland. But as soon as I can afford a nother raspberry pi I'm sure going to buy one, I spent hours and hours on my old one as I had the screen on it and handheld case it was more addictive than the drug I used to take lol

      @ you don't need a static IP.. also you can protect yourself from attacks by using cloudflare as a middleman (don't remember what to call it. There are loads of videos on it).
      It also has a full gigabit lan. 3b was the one that had 300Mbps.
      Yes you can get more powerful computers for the same price, but the low power consumption is what's attractive.
      And just like me, some people have self-hosting as a hobby.

      So unfortunately you do need to install an SD card for it to function, I don't know how hard it would be to fix that. I think the best thing to do is try to have lighter hands.

    Hey is it really worth it to get a power supply with a switch?

    • @electricspider2267
      @electricspider2267 2 года назад

      It makes it easier to turn it off and on. You have a button vs having to plug in or unplug the power.
      As for the power supply: The pi 4 needs at least a 15 watt power supply to function optimally. A standard phone charger typically outputs max 5 watts (5v 1amp) or 10 watts (5v 2amp) for fast charge. Using a weaker power supply may cause your pi to brownout which can potentially lead to SD corruption. A lightning bolt icon will flash on the screen if the pi detects low voltage. also the LEDs on the pi itself will dim or turn off when underpowered.

    • @shockwave.9749
      @shockwave.9749 2 года назад

      @@electricspider2267 yea I use the canakit power supply, but wouldn't turning off the switch on the psu not be a "safe" shutdown and also pose a risk as far as SD corruption?

      Even better, you can install Linux on it, even on an HDD, and use an FullHD+ monitor, like Arzopa, to have a full 8GB RAM, enhanced with an Coral AI enhancer, Mathematica preinstalled on Raspbian and a lot of other goodies on it
      And yes, if you are dependent on Windows, it also works, but it is better, in this case, to use the multisystem option, to benefit anytime of Raspbian Linux advantages...
