Hopefully these tips are helpful! So far, I have not got less than a first for any of my essays as an English Literature student (second year) and so I really do think this method works!

Hi 💫I'm so glad so many of you have found this video helpful 😊I just wanted to pop on here to answer a few questions people have been asking about Studiosity:
Q: Why is it free?
A: Students get it free because their university has a partnership with Studiosity. Basically the uni pays for this extra support so that students get 24/7 help & feedback as part of their enrolment cost.
Q: Why doesn't my uni have it?
A: There are a growing number of UK universities that have partnered with Studiosity. If yours hasn't, you could reach out to your student services team to let them know that this kind of 24/7 support is something you'd really like and benefit from. They might have other services that you could use too.
Q: Isn't this considered 'cheating'?
A: Nope! :) Universities pay for students to use this service; they wouldn't provide it if they didn't think it was a trustworthy way for students to get support 🙈 The Specialists don't provide answers or edit/proofread students' work, ever. They just provide guiding feedback to help students edit and improve their own work.

As a maths person, I can't think of anything worse than having to write an essay. But the way you approached it and your use of Notion toggles makes it looks... almost...fun???

Fun fact Ruby: if you want a toggle on notion, you can enter the greater than sign (>) then a space, and it automatically turns into a toggle!

Hi Ruby! Your essay writing process is brilliant. as a post-grad student in theology, writing longs essays can be soo daunting. Bullet points is such a great way to make tiny progress and actually make sure your writing in a logical manner. I'VE BENEFITED A LOT FROM THIS

I enjoy when you make videos more in depth videos about your work fo university. Literature was one of my options, but I opted for another major, so I like living vicariously through you
I totally relate to the proof reading! What we typically do in our friend group is exchange papers and provide each other with feedback. Also super useful! Especially because other people will have a different view/knowledge and this always helps to improve it. Would definitely recommend! Plus it gives you ideas and inspiration for your own paper, even though we typically have different subjects.

So fun to see how someone in a different field approaches their work. I am a botany student, currently competing a masters in research. I got a 1.1 in my degree and actually graduated top of my class but my lifestyle definitely differed from yours. I worked as a bartender in my final year (around 20 hours a week, I know, probably too much). The whole late night lifestyle turned me fairly nocturnal and I studied from 6pm until 6am towards my final exams. It was so hectic but all the hard work paid off. I just want people to know you can achieve good grades in all sorts of lifestyles. Find what works for you. You can achieve great things once you're willing to put the time in.

Regarding searching on google scholar:
Instead of just typing in the relevant words, use smart searches and Boolean methods. If you use quotation markers it will search exactly for that phrase. For example, if you type: 19th century American literature, without quotation marks, it can pull up results for “American” and “literature” but if you use “19th century American literature” it will ONLY show up results with that entire phrase. Equally use AND and OR. For example, I do medieval PhD so if I wanted to look for sources on late medieval art and Eucharistic theology, I could write in google scholar:
“Late medieval” OR Renaissance OR “fifteenth century”AND “Eucharistic theology”
All in one search, and relevant searches would then appear exactly to match my topic.
Hope that’s helpful! As I mentioned, I’m a PhD student and also work as an academic writing tutor (I’ve actually been a subject specialist for Studiosity in the past!)

I just had to write my first essay in years, for the first exam of my college degree that I started on this fall. And I just gotta say, your method here of creating an outline with toggles and bullet points in notion, completely saved my ass. I was really stressed because I wasn't able to start writing when I was supposed to, but with this method I knew I wouldn't get stuck and everything would be fine, so I was able to just focus well and write the whole thing in just a day. And in addition I'm actually super happy with how it turned out! So thank you!!!

hey ruby! one useful notion tip i've picked up is to type the > symbol to trigger the "toggle" function instead of typing out /toggle like you did in 6:21, which will save you loads of time in the long run!! loved the video 💕 stay safe xx

I have never been able to study like this, I tend to mull it over in my head, get the out line in the head and then just write the essay, leave it a few days re read it and see what needs altering, but I have autistic spectrum disorder so may be it's a quirk of that.

So ok, before making the video public you can make it private so that only people with link can see it. That's what youtubers usually do. Make a video private, watch it to make sure everything is ok (or maybe send to someone) and then make it public for audience to see. The views stay documented though.

Funnily enough, I've been encouraged by a lot of my tutors to use "I" in an essay and not to shy away from it. For example saying "I argue that" rather than something like "It can be argued that" clearly demonstrates that you're discussing your viewpoint rather than the viewpoint of other critics and literature, which can make the structure clearer and the argument more compelling. It might be different for other courses though; I study Sociology at Bristol. Also, I relate so much to the document alignment thing and am very glad I'm not the only one 😂
Yes! I’m a tutor at oxford and would agree with this! Also instead of “I” you could say something like “this essay will argue that..”. Similar subject here- I am mainly in human sciences/ anthropology/ human evolution

I’m a 3rd year law student and this honestly helped me
I find it always very interesting to see the difference between humanities and STEM studies.
That would be very useful 3 years a go, when I wrote my 400 pages Architectural Acoustics Research Report for my Architecture degree. I passed several months writhing over 14 hours a day, and couple more doing all the digital illustrations and coding acoustical simulations. If some day I need to do it again I’ll gonna follow all your tips from this video, and your planning methodology to be more organized and productive
