i love how aggressively positive Ruby is, she really is slamming those books down with motivation! she really do be turning productivity into a superpower, damn
I love how your sister seems to be forced to ask “how do I get motivated?” Because I often feel like I am forced to be motivated even though I wanna do nothing and just lay in bed...
This has come at the PERFECT time! Literally just been chatting with my granny about how unmotivated I've felt this week and I can't seem to shake it even though I've been actively doing things, this really helps! x
Ruby I always feel like you know me. Last night I was thinking how it would be nice for some of my favorite youtubers to make video on this topic because I feel really unmotivated right now. And here you are! Thank you!
I know this is an old video and you must get this a lot, but daaaamn you’re a great inspiration. I came from a very troubled home, so to be able to benefit from and be influenced by your attitude is genuinely life changing. I had a friend just like you at secondary school and sixth form (who studied English at Oxford funnily enough) and you remind me of him a lot. So it’s amazing to be able to watch these videos and take part in your study-alongs and get caught up in your positive energy. So thank you dearly, it’s a great help
When I tick something off my to-do list I usually think it's time for a break. And then I find the book very interesting, or my snack turns into making dinner for the whole family and then I succesfully didn't do anything else from my list for the entire day again.
SAMEEE!! And then people recommend writing a timetable so that you are more "forced" to keep on but I'm always too optimistic and plan too many tasks and too little time per task. And when I need more time for one task, I'm just thinking "oh screw it, might as well be unproductive the rest of the day" and I'll not do any other task because I wouldn't be able to finish all of them anyway 🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️
I know. It's just so hard. At the end of the day it's usually still a productive day but the tasks I wanted to do are still unfinished. I am working on becoming better at taking breaks and then returning to work by using timers or setting myself a few hours every day which I'll try to use for my to-do list. The best for me are weekly to-do lists. If I get distracted on Tuesday, I have more left on my list on Wednesday. And usually that motivates me to finish before the weekend and have free days for all the distraction I want/find.
@@Anne-id2zt those are good strategies, I will definitely try them out! Thank you! Concerning the weekly to-do list, how do you find the right amount of tasks to do so that you have neither too many to tackle nor too few to be productive every day on the list?
I don't think motivation should be the thing that drives you to do something. Motivation is so fleeting. Discipline sticks around much longer & I think that's what helps to get things done. Motivation is great for starting off, but discipline will get you to the finish line.
Ruby, thank you SO much for making this kind of videos. You can't imagine how helpful they are. I've been waiting for this video since the one about procrastination. And you uploaded it just in time, because I have to do a heavy homework and I wasn't motivated. Now yes!! Thank you again :)
How I found my motivation was interesting. I was doing 'mediocre' in my A levels and wasn't getting the A*s I wanted, then one day I decided to go 'all in' for revision and see if putting in so much work was worth it. I came out with the 2nd highest mark in Psychology in my entire year and since then, I knew that if I put in the work to learn and understand the material, it would always be worth it. Studying for me is like going to the gym, you have a good work out and push your limits to get better and in the mean time, you enjoy yourself and get good results!
What makes me feel always motivated to study is my deep dream and wish to be a diplomat and represent my country abroad. I have to tell you, Ruby, I am just like you, I always loved to study and this makes me so happy! My love for studies and my dreams are enough to motivate me.
Literally had to write down notes for this video, because it was packed with information! Really love your unique way of seeing study breaks. I will definitly try out the productive study breaks at the right timing next week. I feel like you are my biggest motivator right now & I have so much to learn from you. Keep on rocking, Ruby! :)
But also remember that it is okay to NOT be motivated (nothing wrong with this video by the way I totally agree with Ruby's advices). In this society where we are always push to always be productive and do always more, we have to integrate that our emotions, feelings, circumstances are not always in favor for this productive state of mind. And even if sometimes we don't have "choice" and that we have to achieve a task, listening to what's our body is telling us is also important. Having rest, doing a fun activity out of work, not achieving all of our to do list but being proud for the "little" that we at least have did matter !
Tank you Ruby! Along the lines of the “motivation-scent”: you can chew a specific flavour of gum while you study a certain subject. Your brain associates the flavour with the topic/subject. Chewing that flavoured gum when you take an exam for example will facilitate accessing this part of knowledge in your brain because the flavour will go hand in hand with the subject ;)
I did it with music. Play a CD when studying for math (always that CD and only for math) and another CD with history... So when I play a CD it brings me the mood
The one thing that really turned me around and is helping me be more productive every day is RUclipsrs like YOU because when I see you studying, working hard, being productive, it motivates me to do the same. So thank you Ruby 🥰
“it is possible to turn work into play” me: that only works for ruby🤔 hahah but will def try out some tips in this video. just finished another exam and I need to start grinding on those lectures :)
I need this cos I've been anxious on and off about everything, so thank you x Having more of a schedule and being aware of these things should hopefully prevent me from having internal meltdowns.
Oh man, I needed this video like 6 hours ago!! Thank you, Ruby. The tips at the end are clutch! I'm dealing with major productivity burnout at the moment after months and months of high performing work and trying to decide if the best thing to do is power through or just take a big break from studies or other obligations.
Self discipline is self love, self love is self motivation... 'Who am I? ' is the best question to stay motivated all the time... Thanks Ruby... Love from India🇮🇳
oh my gosh, i really needed to see this video. i've been feeling really down during lockdown, like i haven't got anything done. this video really made inspired me to be more motivated and to enjoy my schoolwork! so thank you for making this video, your tips are honestly so helpful!! i took so much away from this video and definitely going to start an ideas books :D
Ruby you are the best. You are a person who always wants everyone to achieve their goal. Today I was feeling depressed but after watching your video I am motivated. And there will be a day when I will personally be able to come to meet you and be your friend.
Doesn’t matter short or long I just need any type of motivation ahaha😭 But I totally agree with you on figuring out that “why” for long term motivation! Whenever I get exhausted from my studies I try to remind myself about why I started all this and why I need to keep going!
IDK if this makes sense, but watching Ruby's videos (and some of the other studytubers too) has somehow morphed studying into 'play' for me. At the beginning, I was simply trying to be like them, and somehow in the midst of the process, I genuinely began to actually enjoy studying.
Omg thanks Ruby we all needed this right now. My son Charlie has just headed back to school today. We found ticking things off to be so motivating, first for him it was an achievement and for me rewarding that I did a good job teaching. Your RUclips video gets a big tick from us here over in Australia. I will show Sophie my daughter your tips as she could use some motivation in her last two weeks at home until she returns back to school.
P. S. Study is play for me to! I don't need to be motivated to read, I would read anytime. I leave off on my books at the end of chapters, then I always want to come back and finish it. Also I feel motivated in the library surrounded by books.
My daughter likes to study talking in video chat so it feels more like a classroom with her best friend. Which I allow some times as long as it isn't too distracting, if so I say call back later, time to get focused again.
Thank you so much, I followed a to do list app honestly for the first time ever just yesterday. (6/20) I cleaned my room efficiently, counted every pair of shoes that I owned and sorted through my closet even measuring my closet to figure out how to get more organization drawers to fit inside since I purged my wardrobe a few weeks ago ready for some change in my room. I can not recommend to do lists enough they are so helpful. Checking the boxes does wonders! I just pray that I can figure out a study method for Math and figure out how to study efficiently and learn all I can for my test! I came across your channel a few months ago and I even subbed. I realized I wasn't getting any notifications you uploaded but I hit that bell icon just to be safe. I absolutely love your content Ruby!
This is just what I needed Ruby! I was feeling so down this lockdown because I felt like I was comparing myself to everyone else being motivated, but I realised that I wasn't even trying! This came at the perfect time and I want to thank you for sharing this love :)
Hey, First of all i watched it yesterday night and you looked really beautiful and i didn't listen or paid attention to any single thing because their were lot of smiles which was hard for me to keep up with each smile, you were looking beautiful, really, but one thing was for sure that your energy was high in this video like never before, many time i felt like you were my coach and trying to motivate me for my second half of the football match, like when you said "JUST KEEP GOING" i felt like i have to score a goal or you would do something to me, I was scared, As far as motivation goes i never get motivated by anyone's word but the work they do, for me the only thing motivates me everyday is a thought to be the best that this planet has ever seen, i want to be the best, and i know i will be the best this little planet in this huge universe has ever seen, for me just making a name that will live till the eternity is the most motivating thing for me, and i love what it makes me feel, And as i have seen you actually is the most dedicated and determined person i have seen, because i feel you are not that of materialistic type of person which i relate to a lot, ( if you are too), and i can understand what it takes to be productive in this materialistic place, You are also actually a person who really such a beautiful perspective of anything around, you actually see the most beautiful part of any surrounding you are, which is priceless, And also when i watch these motivation video of yours i feel like competitive, i just feel like i want to be better than her, Which would be a honour to even lose to such a dedicated person, (which i know i will) You know i watch your video for three reasons, i am going to be fair, they are- 1. That beautiful smile 2. Because you look so beautiful 3. That dedication, which is really just more than appreciable, You know i actually wanted to say this, that i feel related to you almost in uncanny way to explain, i just feel we both think completely same about a particular situation, particular topic or anything, i feel like i completely understand what you feel, i don't why but i feel like this, As far as your work goes, i feel you are the most determined and dedicated person i have ever seen, a lot of respect for that, Just be the way you are, just do what you feel , because i know whatever you will do will be the most beautiful thing to look, And one thing i feel that no matter how productive you are, but i don't think you ever let go a chance to have fun, And just felt amazing to see you in white dress, i don't know if you have realised or not but there are very people who look good in white, it's vey rare, and you are actually the most beautiful person i have seen in white dress, really, Started the day watching you, ending it by thinking and writing to you, (it actually felt nice even to write this) Take care Ruby of yourself and family, Keep, please always keep smiling!!!
this came at such an amazing time for me. I’d really lost touch with everything I’d found enjoyable. coming back to long term goals and how the little things I do now can help me reach them has really motivated me. thanks so much for this video! x
Love the playful Ruby at 6:29 😄 and all the Martha cameos 😂 as always, great advice, thank you so much for what you share with us 🙌 I actually include your videos in my motivation routine every morning ❤️
Hey, Ruby! Just want to thank you for your videos. I found that it is much easier when you turn something you have to do to what you love, just finding such things that you can admire in everything. Thank you for being sooo positive and... Sincere with us( I just can't find the right word). You showed that everybody has ups and downs, but there is always something good that can help to keep going. I just love your videos! Thank you so much! Have a nice day and stay healthy!
We all are waiting for ruby to get silver play button because she deserve all the play button silver gold diamond ruby ... all of them . you are our inspiration 😊
As a student whos pursing a psychology PhD, Everything Ruby has stated is true. I have alright applied some of these in my study habits and let me tell you, It does in fact help you enjoy your homework. For me personally, I always loved the thrill of learning. And I think its very important to read on your free time. Remember literature is a gift, one where we shouldn't take for granted.
Dear Ruby, I have said this over and over again, but I just need to repeat it... You cannot imagine how much you are helping me with your videos, no matter what kind. Whenever I feel down, unmotivated or unproductive I watch your videos and my mood improves immediately!😍 Thank you so much! I love your new style of editing with the handwritten captions and the whiteboards and just changing perspective throughout the video. It makes it so much more enjoyable than the typical sit-down videos! You somehow find just the right path between psychological explanations and tipps that everyone can do, I love it and it's so interesting!😘 You truly are my greatest role model at the moment and I just want to thank you for that!🤗😘 Greetings from Germany!😊
I really like this style of video! It feels almost like a Bill Nye type of directorial decisions with the whiteboard and the switching of tasks on screen and the style of film cuts. Along with the inserted cuts of Martha (which I especially enjoyed!) I hope that you make more videos this way, though I do understand that they probably take a while to film and edit. Much love and happy thoughts!
You've been a motivation to me since I started to watch your channel 3 years ago. Thank you for always being there for me and helping me to study. Love from Turkey💞🌸
Similar to how you add things you've already done to your to-do list, I sometimes reverse it and do an achievement journal! I basically write things down as I achieve them throughout the day, and depending on how unmotivated I'm feeling they could be as simple as just getting out of bed and brushing my teeth etc. But that way I get to see an empty list grow as I complete things, as opposed to being faced with a massive list first thing in the morning and feeling really overwhelmed!
This has been so helpful for me to carry on with my work ! Thanks a ton for spending so much time and energy to create this, ruby! @3:37 nice work, Martha!
This video is full of really useful content, Ruby's videos are always so helpful and real, not like some other you tubers who are like 'Run 20 miles drink 12 liter water and only eat an apple a day to stay motivated for your work'
One thing I do is that I set a timetable for every day and will set an alarm at the start of every study session .. the music must be inspiring ( I chose 'watch me shine' from 'legally blonde') . It worked for me . Make sure to change the song if you get bored of hearing that 😉
I think this video could not have come at a better time. I personally think being productive can become a habit almost, but you have to start some where, and that can be hard for some. Keep up with the awesome work 😊
Your videos got me through high school and my first year of uni and now that I'm moving on and seeing these videos it constantly keeps me motivated. thank you so much for providing such insightful content I love you so much hope you're doing okay. Can you make a book recommendation video sometime soon? I know you read a lot and you inspired me to read more too haha.
Hi! I'm not trying to be one of those guys! But you're very beautiful! Aside from that I really did enjoy this video, especially the point about taking breaks when you're at the peak of your work rather than feeling as though you're slipping into a valley, as well as the suggestion about making a list of things that you find motivate you! Thanks Ruby!
Dear Ruby, you are amazing! You learned me that school is something fun. People are always saying: school sucks, I hate school. People say these things because it is normal, but you're videos made me realize that school is fun and that learning is something amazing! Would you please make a video about Emily Dickinson? I am currently looking in to her poems and they are amazing so I would love to learn more about her as a person and her poems and I know that you love her poems and know a lot about her. Lots of love from the Netherlands! 😘
I somehow find myself the most motivated at 1:30 AM, but I'm trying very hard to get that motivation to move along to 9 or 10 AM. To do lists are great, especially since I'm quite forgetful and have something that needs doing. Fresh air has been a blessing in the past two weeks when I've been couped up inside "just" writing essays. I am off to have breakfast and tick that off my list!
if you struggle to start studying, start by using reinforcement methods like treating yourself to watching an episode of a show after doing a few hours of studying or something. Reinforce yourself with a treat prior to studying or during breaks. Obviously don't stick to this forever, find enjoyment in work, but getting started this method can help. (check out B.F skinner's reinforcement schedules/operant conditioning). Over time the reinforcement will come from the feeling of enjoying studying or the success you receive from being productive.
Hi Ruby! Your videos always get me motivated when I dont feel like it! Motivation is really important for me in quarantine as a busy mind is a happy mind :D hope you are having a wonderful rest of your day 😻
This video has motivated me so much! I loved all the tips and believe they could be really useful! Thank you so much for these kind of videos Ruby! You're such an inspiration ❤

Which would be a honour to even lose to such a dedicated person, (which i know i will)
You know i watch your video for three reasons, i am going to be fair, they are-
1. That beautiful smile
2. Because you look so beautiful
3. That dedication, which is really just more than appreciable,
You know i actually wanted to say this, that i feel related to you almost in uncanny way to explain, i just feel we both think completely same about a particular situation, particular topic or anything, i feel like i completely understand what you feel, i don't why but i feel like this,
As far as your work goes, i feel you are the most determined and dedicated person i have ever seen, a lot of respect for that,
Just be the way you are, just do what you feel , because i know whatever you will do will be the most beautiful thing to look,
And one thing i feel that no matter how productive you are, but i don't think you ever let go a chance to have fun,
And just felt amazing to see you in white dress, i don't know if you have realised or not but there are very people who look good in white, it's vey rare, and you are actually the most beautiful person i have seen in white dress, really,
Started the day watching you, ending it by thinking and writing to you, (it actually felt nice even to write this)
Take care Ruby of yourself and family,
Keep, please always keep smiling!!!
Ruby's videos are making me me more motivated one time i saw her morning routine and after that i studied for 4 hours 📖📗
Because you’re awesome. Easy answer 😊
Class XI A he wasn’t simping.
aprilshowqrs I feel like the word simp is over and improperly used
What does simp even mean? I'm not English and I see it everywhere on English social media nowadays but I don't understandddd xD
How is this simping? 🤔
@@DemetriPanici I agree. It's a little bit annoying to see it getting used everywhere and out of context.
You are so sweet! Your channel is my favourite about study and really helps me to get more motivated, from the other side of the globe. Thank u, Ruby!
Ah thank you Ingrid!
this came at such an amazing time for me.
I loved this video so much!! your energy, outfit, hair and editing - all perfectionnnn
Have a nice day and stay healthy!
how do I get motivated: watching ruby’s videos 💖
We all are waiting for ruby to get silver play button because she deserve all the play button silver gold diamond ruby ... all of them . you are our inspiration 😊
Omg it is so clear that you love doing what you're doing! Your enthusiasm makes me motivated.
The switching of tasks is really effective method💯
Wow the video quality is extremely amazing, I loved the way the colors are balanced ❤❤
You know what.... You make me feel so productive and positive.. Love ur channel
Gah, needed this!! I've been struggling to get back on track after my AP exams - thank you Ruby!
True
Getting motivated is hard, but once you are, it's life changing. 💕
After subscribing to your channel I changed a lot. I'm more productive and positive now. You are my inspiration
THANK YOU RUBY ❣️
This has been so helpful for me to carry on with my work ! Thanks a ton for spending so much time and energy to create this, ruby!
@3:37 nice work, Martha!
This video is full of really useful content, Ruby's videos are always so helpful and real, not like some other you tubers who are like 'Run 20 miles drink 12 liter water and only eat an apple a day to stay motivated for your work'
Thanks for this ruby! I've been getting low on motivation lately and this really helps.
10:02 I can see me and my younger sister in you and Martha.I luv the way Martha speaks "How do I get motivated".
Keep up with the awesome work 😊
The effort put into this video is AStrOnoMicaL
"How am I always motivated? "
Because you are Ruby and you are perfect.
FACTS
Definitely Agreed 🤝
She is the most perfect person I ever knew in my whole life
Your personality shined in this, Ruby!
This was an amazing video Ruby!! You seemed so happy the entire time, and it in turn made me happy as well!! :) 💗
I love when Marfa appears haha
Your videos keep getting into my ‘’favorites’’ playlist :)
Theory of everything's music is another level of calm
loved this video ruby! you seemed really natural and yourself :)
if you struggle to start studying, start by using reinforcement methods like treating yourself to watching an episode of a show after doing a few hours of studying or something.
I love the little snippets of Marfa in the last few videos Ruby They give my so much joy 🦦
Thank you so much for this!! I have really been lacking motivation in lockdown and now I want to try and get it back! Thank you xx
omg the clips w martha lmaoo what a mood
