My index looks blurry all of a sudden and the lenses look perfectly fine, but if I turn all the light off and have the headset looking at a white background, and angle the headset so I’m looking from the edge of the lense I can see circles around the lenses that can’t be rubbed off. I’m assuming that’s what is causing the extreme glare and blurry where the headset can almost not be used. Don’t know if they’re scratched or not but since the repair from ifixit is pretty intense and expensive I just ordered a new index. Maybe eventually I’ll try and take the lenses out and do something like this and try to find a fix for it. Then either return the new one or sell the old one
i got super glue all over this lol im boiling them rn thanks for your incredibly useful video (although i acknowledge you at no point recommended boiling them)
I fucked up. The inner lens wouldn't come out, so I tried using air duster to get the screen through the cracks around it, and ended up adding MORE dust. I'll just buy the replacement tubes; I know how to disassemble the hardware, but it's still a $500 mistake. Got it back together so I can still use it in the meantime, but it's so much worse than before...

boiling could not remove superglue marks
so im baking them at 300f and will boil them after the glue softens
how did you get the lenses back in? Do you need to use any kind of adhesive to keep them in place?
I did not need any extra adhesive, the stuff that is already there works if you reinsert it quickly
