This movie is a better drug PSA than most actual PSA's. Mia is grieving, finds a drug that takes away the pain however briefly and she gets addicted to it. It starts to ruin her life and hurt her friends and instead of abandoning the drug she starts relying on it more and more until it takes her life. Her lying to the moms face " i know you wouldnt do anything to hurt him" when she is planning to stab Riley in the next few minutes is clear as fucking day parallel to how drug addicts treat the people who love them.
@@Quzgai get that tbh but if anything i don’t think that this movie is anti addiction it seems to come from an understanding perspective with how and why people take drugs and drink
Its about spirits tho not drugs if you look into every single movie like that every damn horror movie could be said to be about addiction and drugs etc
The hand being used to cope with grief as a metaphor for hard drugs (blown out pupils, passing it around at a party, deep inhale, lighting the candle, saying "you let a kid do it?", the hand off of the bag like a drop, passing from friend to friend like an addiction, trying to use it again every time things get worse, the body kicking it out over time as they experience horrific symptoms being like withdrawal etc) really struck me. Sadder film than I expected, in a good way
Damn that ending is so scary because it would explain why ghosts and entities would want to posses people, they stay in eternal darkness until somebody gives them a way in, a small glimpse of life again for whatever amount of time they can keep it
Also imagine spending so long in the darkness. Just nothing but eternal darkness with brief glimpses of possession. You would go mad, so makes sense why the spirits are so deranged and want more souls to join them and body's to play with
@@toritori2299well who knows how the ghosts experience time considering by the end she only felt like a few minutes pass but the hand already ended up in a Latin country (I’m assuming the point of them speaking Spanish was to show it was a different country and not just Spanish speakers)

@TailorMadeReacts Relatively low considering how awfully and unnecessarily high some of the budgets are nowdays. Plus unfortunately is now rare to see a good movie with a budget like this, for some reason so many people now have the mindset of needing a high budget for a movie to be good and most of the "cheap" movies are just mid or bad.
I'm pretty sure that the first ghost Mia saw was pretending to be her mom the whole time. She went over 90 secs, so the watery drowned ghost was able to see Mia's grief. I think the ghost took the form of the mom when Riley entered, and tricked Mia into keeping the ghost in for too long, and took over Riley to mess with Mia. The whole time, it wanted to drive Mia insane and have her commit suicide, so it's free the drowned ghost from the darkness, and put Mia in her place. You can hear water every time her mother shows up, so that's the big clue. I also choose to believe that Jade managed to get the dad to the hospital and he is alive at the end in the hospital

For Mia’s mom, the theory is that the drowned spirit Mia saw when she first did it, is the spirit following her throughout the whole movie. Cause as the movie goes on the mom gets more bloated and wet. You hear sounds of water when she’s present. The spirit manipulated Mia using the face of her mother. So when Riley did it, it was her mom at first. But then the other spirit took over after seeing what made Mia vulnerable. Also seeing Danny and Michael, aka RackaRacka, succeed with this movie has been amazing to watch. Greg has such a great way of narrowing down exactly what a movie makes you experience. I knew exactly what meant when he said a combination of Hereditary and Thirteen. Like damn it really is that rough
This has become one of my fav horror movies! It's just so good, I love the suspense and it reminds me of the sixth sense a little. I love how Mia ends up like the kangaroo in the end and how it goes full circle with her "Talking" to the living now! Man I could go on and on! Loved your reactions!!
No, it's not illegal to kill kangaroos. They're a pest in Australia and they are constantly getting accidentally run over. Koalas, on the other hand, are protected.
For a directorial debut, this is brilliant! Out of all genres, they chose horror, which is not an easy genre to handle, but they did a fantastic job and created something original.
I love watching people's reactions to this movie. Everyone's view on it. Totally amazing movie that's such a good way of explaining addiction without drugs when you're in a really bad headspace. I also think because Mia went over 90seconds the first time that the ghost followed her. You see the ghost touch Riley when he sleeps next to Mia and I think Riley really let Mia's mom in and when Mia touches the hand when she says she loves her as well I think her ghost took over Riley replacing Mia's mom and that ghost tried to kill him. They also let Riley go way over and didn't close the the gateway (blowing out the candle) and her ghost just took the moms form. That's why she gets more and more distorted towards the end. This ghost also shows interest in Riley the first time Mia does this. Such an amazing film. Loved it so much.
What I enjoy is how you get all three perspectives of the possessions. The outside perspective, the outside perspective of the possession, the inside perspective of the possession, and the perspective of the possessor.
I felt the same, it felt so hard to watch. I don't mind rewatching a lot of A24 movies but I don't know that I'd ever want to watch this again 😂 It's a great film but man it hurts
I agree, this reminded me alot of hereditary, or atleast the feeling of despair and grief and just dark undertones that was displayed. The only upside to this movie is that it handled grief in a way where there was a lesson to be learned when dealing with loss and the escapes we try to take and abuse, while hereditary was a train of just chaos that never stopped 😂 great movie reaction, guys!
Just watched the movie two days ago. Thinking about the bed & sleeping scenes in the movie while in bed at night trying to sleep got me uncomfortable af. Out of all those horror movies over the years since the first conjuring, this movie definitely spooked me. It also kept me on the edge of my seat most of the time. Really enjoyed watching it and its nice having a fresh story which really gets you to fear whats to come in the movie and gets you creeped out without unnecessary jump scares. 💯 Love your videos and reaction guys ! ❤
This movie is pretty frickin' good and thats coming from someone who doesnt like horror but A24 knows what theyre doing. Also, I really love the combo of Greg & Roxy watching horror so I hope we get a bunch more since Halloween's coming up
"Talk To Me stands out as one of the best horror films in recent memory. While Hereditary was good, it lacked the emotional connection I found in this movie, even though Mia kept making questionable choices. That's what makes Talk To Me special. The Philipoup brothers has made an iconic hand that left quite an impression on me. I even considered getting a duplicate for Halloween, haha!"
@@PopsiCOLE Whenever Toni Collette is part of a production, it elevates the project. Hereditary is reminiscent of Rosemary’s Baby, and that where lies the issue. It wasn't with the actors; rather, it was the story itself. The family's fate seemed sealed from the start due to the grandmother's affiliations with a cult. While I share the same generation as Toni Collette, the youth culture depicted in Talk To Me resonates more closely with my environment. Training similar youngsters for work, I found their behaviors mirroring those portrayed in the film, to the extent that I jokingly told my new young coworkers that the movie was a true reflection of them, lol.
@@PopsiCOLE Agreed. Hereditary hit me more than Talk to Me, mostly because I can deeply relate to watching generational trauma absolutely wreck a family from the inside out. There wasn't much they could do, just sit and stew in a pot that wasn't really of their own making but that they all contributed to. It was deeply unsettling. Talk to Me was extremely well done, 10/10 across the board, but didn't strike me in the same way.
Loved this movie so much! Definitely one of the best films of the year! One thing I wanted to point out that I thought was super smart of Racka to do was to use their audio design as another tool to tell their story. If you listen carefully, you can hear water/bubbly sounds when the ghost that possesses Mia is first introduced. Every time Mia seems to be talking to her mother as a ghost, you can hear the same water/bubbly sounds. This indicates that the ghost Mia is talking to might not even be her mother and it's just using Mia's trauma with her mother to make her do what the demons want. These little clues, nuggets, and attention to detail make this a phenomenal film.
18:42 I’m obsessed with Riley’s line read here. “I let *you* in.” It’s that small emphasis on “you” that really makes it feel like he gives permission for what he sees, not what it really is.
This was just brilliant! I love how it just settled into the uneasiness and I’ll feeling. It didn’t use any sounds to invoke fear but instead acting and plot which I loved. The main actress did an amazing job of making everything believable. ❤😊
This film gets to the point and has no fat on the cutting board. Best horror movie I’ve seen in a minute. I watched it at 2am in my house alone with a candle lit 😂 at the end I said to myself oh snap please let there be a hand reaching out to her to come full circle and I was not disappointed. That ending is so fire 🔥 after it was over I had to look up the director and writer and seen it was the guys from RUclips. And the lead Sophie killed it. Brilliant film, can’t wait for their next movie. ❤
This movie is probably gonna be known as the best horror of the year, which isn’t saying much considering that this year hasn’t had a lot of solid choices so far. This movie wasn’t scary like everyone kept saying but it does stick with you. I LOVE the montage and the music choice. The acting from everyone especially Sophie Wilde was so natural and so good. The themes of drug use, peer pressure, grief, loss, etc was so powerful and well executed. Also, I bought the hand that A24 is selling. It works as an incense and smoking device apparently.
I loved how Greg was like I'm looking forward to this movie and then the shit starts haha😂 it's horrible but a great set of performances and cast with amazing concepts and storytelling with alot of underlying themes. Good to see the whirl girl herself and team still do the RUclips thing
Yo! The many references to your maturity level (aka lack thereof) was magical. The scratching was a nice touch, Greg. I had to pause it to giggle for a minute when you were both chuckling "heh heh heh" and Beavis and Butthead meme their way in like a closed caption. Btw, congrats to the Raka Raka creators on a unique film concept!
There is an already recorded found-footage prequel and announced sequel which I'm so excited for, people have so many theories regarding the hand that I want some answers for despite loving the ambiguity.
The mom is actually the drowned women in the beginning that later on possesses the main character and the little brother. You can hear the water sounds whenever the mom is on screen or part of a scene
I don’t really watch horror but I love this movie! Saw it opening weekend with some friends to support the RackaRacka boys but I didn’t expect to like it this much!
I really don’t remember a possession film being made so successfully like this one. I’m so glad this was made independently. even loving a24 so much I’m glad they didn’t have any hand on producing it, it somehow I think it wouldn’t be so amazing as it was
Watched this last night and loved it. The directors did a fantastic job on every level. I also noticed how all the acting, dialogue, and character interactions felt so natural. So many movies and shows feel like actors hitting marks and delivering lines on a set. This all felt very genuine from the lead actors all the way to the side characters.
Hiiiii Miranda Otto played Eowyn ( don’t remember if correctly written ) in lord of the rings and Tom cruise and Dakota Fanning War of worlds Love the reaction thank you guys 😊
Miranda Otto was the mother. She was in Lord of the Rings the one who killed the night king saying I am no man. (In Return of the King and before that Two towers) Sophie Wilde played Mia
Just watched this after hearing the news about Matthew Perry. Thank you for making me smile guys, I absolutely love your reactions. You two have absolutely great chemistry for reactions! Have you guys watched Crimson Peak?
Disappointed Greg and John didn’t react to this one. Was waiting forever for both of their reactions😔 Also I should mention if anyone wants to watch a brilliant Aussie crime drama tv show watch: Mr Inbetween… it won’t disappoint
Imo, the best horror movie of this decade. SO GOOD. And what's even more impressive, is the fact that the budget was only 4.5M and it already grossed 70M+ globally..., Talk To Me 2 is already confirmed and I CAN'T WAIT.
I can't believe how well they did with a $4M budget ($1M was taken off them because they went with an 'unknown Actress') and I believe they said only 5 weeks to shoot it. The camera work was amazing, it really draws you into the moment. The actress they got for Mia (Sophie Wilde) and the boy who played Riley were amazing.
8:23. The reason I LOVE this movie so much. This is just one of them. If you look REAL close at the “Blurred Shot” (thanks Greg👍🏾), you can see “Jade & Daniel” start to hold hands. Then also pay attention to “Mia” as well. Because when they DO lock hands, you can see Mia glance over there for a QUICK second. THAT’s when she wanted to participate in “The Hand” shit. I jus wanted to point that out.
I was just checking last night to see if you guys had already done a reaction to this movie, and I had somehow missed it. 🤔 I'm excited for this one!!! 👏👏👏
No matter how many times I see this movie or a reaction to it, I can't help but scream, "That's the person from Wentworth!!" When Zoe Terakes comes on 😂😂😂😂
Seeing the montage scene without the music is actually so interesting because you get to hear more of what’s being said, whoever edited this was cookin 😂😂
Im so glad I found this channel. No matter whose reacting its always a great time!! Oh also, after watching this movie i told myself it as amazing and I Never Want to see it again. Ive watched it 5x since 😂
I’m not even through the reaction yet but I just want to say fantastic reaction. You guys just get it and it’s so great and the observations you’re making are so succinct that you’re even settling some conflicts I had myself about the movie. Which is incredible. Great stuff. 👏 😃
Love, love, love this movie. So happy someone’s reacting to it. I took two people to see it after I did ‘cause I wanted them to experience it and see their reactions. It’s so good ☺️
Solid 8 and maybe 8.9 imo MUCH better than Insidious Red Door, Cobweb, Evil Dead Rise, the Nun 2, or any other 2023 horror movies that i watched this year
Definitely not illegal to kill kangaroos, kinda classified as a pest, drive about 2 hours any direction out of a major city and you will probably see on the side of the road.
I saw this in the theater and was so excited to watch your reaction but now as the young brother scene is about to happen I’m questioning if I want to relive that experience again. That was one of the most jarring experiences I’ve had in a movie. Well crap here goes nothing.

I don't mind rewatching a lot of A24 movies but I don't know that I'd ever want to watch this again 😂
It's a great film but man it hurts
I need more horror reactions between the both of you, especially with October coming up
I agree, this reminded me alot of hereditary, or atleast the feeling of despair and grief and just dark undertones that was displayed.
Such a great directorial debut for the Philippou brothers and honestly one of the best horror movies of the last few years!
I had mixed feelings about this film, especially the third act. But it was definitely well directed and acted
Seeing Aussie actors, Aussie music, and Aussie slang in a film like this just hits my heart in a particular way.
The mom is Miranda Otto, who played Eowyn in LOTR; "I AM NO MAN!"
Best horror since Hereditary easily. Watched it over a dozen times now and it quickly became my favorite film in years.
“I let *you* in.”
It’s that small emphasis on “you” that really makes it feel like he gives permission for what he sees, not what it really is.
This was just brilliant! I love how it just settled into the uneasiness and I’ll feeling. It didn’t use any sounds to invoke fear but instead acting and plot which I loved. The main actress did an amazing job of making everything believable. ❤😊
So interesting to hear that because I thought the sound design was one of my favorite things about the movie!
Roxy reminds me of my mom watching a movie. It will be a movie neither of us has seen and she will asked me whats about to happen lol
been waiting for this reaction! this movie absolutely blew me away, congrats to Danny & Michael you guys rule
Home girl asking Greg 21 questions as if he's seen this movie before lol..classic..
4:10 she reminds me of my cousin 😂…her questions are exactly like this when we watch a movie.
The most realistic mom in a movie I've ever seen. "On God, if you drink, I will punch you in the face"🤣🤣
It’s so funny that u kept describing this movie as “mean”. Because here in Australia/New Zealand, we use “mean” as slang for cool or good 🤣🤣
You should watch more Aussie movies. The authenticity comes through in so many of them. (from an Aussie).
Thanks for the love Reel Rejects!
There is an already recorded found-footage prequel and announced sequel which I'm so excited for, people have so many theories regarding the hand that I want some answers for despite loving the ambiguity.
Omg the Beavis and Butthead part killed me. I love you guys
I’m so glad this was made independently. even loving a24 so much I’m glad they didn’t have any hand on producing it, it somehow I think it wouldn’t be so amazing as it was
"unbelievably well done. I just don't know if i like it."
Exactly.
Massive respect to Danny and Michael
I love the way Greg reacts to films. The concentration. The dialogue. The emotions. I have such a crush lol. 😂❤
Hiiiii Miranda Otto played Eowyn ( don’t remember if correctly written ) in lord of the rings and Tom cruise and Dakota Fanning War of worlds
Love the reaction thank you guys 😊
Awesome movie I just checked for your reaction over the weekend when I saw it! And I just passed the beavis and butthead edit now I’m LOLing 😂
Miranda Otto was the mother. She was in Lord of the Rings the one who killed the night king saying I am no man. (In Return of the King and before that Two towers)
Sophie Wilde played Mia
That montage is so sick
I am addicted to it
The music everything😊❤️
This movie is so great and scary! The Racka Racka Brothers are such great directors! 👍
That ending was a chef's kiss - I loved it.
Shout out to RAKARAKA! So crazy to see them do an actual movie! This is probably the best horror movie I've seen in a good while 👍🏽
This movie was heavy as hell, makes you feel exhausted after watching it
Man the kid that played riley did SUCH a good job in this movie. I hope he gets to do more stuff.
You two are my favourite on this channel so I’m so glad you’re reacting to my favourite horror film that came out this year💞💞💞
This was a bloody fantastic horror film, and a haunting exploration of drug addiction. I totally agree with Roxy. I am never watching it again. 😃
Just watched this after hearing the news about Matthew Perry. Thank you for making me smile guys, I absolutely love your reactions. You two have absolutely great chemistry for reactions! Have you guys watched Crimson Peak?
Disappointed Greg and John didn’t react to this one. Was waiting forever for both of their reactions😔
Also I should mention if anyone wants to watch a brilliant Aussie crime drama tv show watch: Mr Inbetween… it won’t disappoint
Imo, the best horror movie of this decade. SO GOOD. And what's even more impressive, is the fact that the budget was only 4.5M and it already grossed 70M+ globally..., Talk To Me 2 is already confirmed and I CAN'T WAIT.
I remember watching the rackaracka all the time when I was younger. I didn’t know they made this, but they did a great job.
43:57 greg must have forgot just how disturbing Rackaracka videos were. This movie is exactly what I would expect from them
My favorite duo watching my current favorite film!!!!! 🎉🙌🏼
I loved the ending so much, such despair and tragedy
Finaallllly!!! Im watching this reaction soon as I get off! U guys have. GOT TO watch No One Will Save You! Future classic I promise!
I'm excited for this one!!!
👏👏👏
No matter how many times I see this movie or a reaction to it, I can't help but scream, "That's the person from Wentworth!!" When Zoe Terakes comes on
😂😂😂😂
Seeing the montage scene without the music is actually so interesting because you get to hear more of what’s being said, whoever edited this was cookin 😂😂
appreciate it :)
YESSSSS!!!! Been waiting and hoping for this reaction! Si excited!
Bro at the beginning she making all those questions I was like "You realise he has the same information as you, right?" lol
Im so glad I found this channel. No matter whose reacting its always a great time!!
Oh also, after watching this movie i told myself it as amazing and I Never Want to see it again.
Ive watched it 5x since 😂
i was surprised to seeing aunt zelda haha
I wasn't going to like or comment but...the high five at the end got me. 💀
I’m not even through the reaction yet but I just want to say fantastic reaction. You guys just get it and it’s so great and the observations you’re making are so succinct that you’re even settling some conflicts I had myself about the movie. Which is incredible. Great stuff. 👏 😃
Good Lord. Never say "i let you in" to supernatural entities!
Love, love, love this movie. So happy someone’s reacting to it. I took two people to see it after I did ‘cause I wanted them to experience it and see their reactions. It’s so good ☺️
15:59 was so funny i didn’t expect that😦
Solid 8 and maybe 8.9 imo
MUCH better than Insidious Red Door, Cobweb, Evil Dead Rise, the Nun 2, or any other 2023 horror movies that i watched this year
Definitely not illegal to kill kangaroos, kinda classified as a pest, drive about 2 hours any direction out of a major city and you will probably see on the side of the road.
I saw this in the theater and was so excited to watch your reaction but now as the young brother scene is about to happen I’m questioning if I want to relive that experience again. That was one of the most jarring experiences I’ve had in a movie. Well crap here goes nothing.
Well I had already ordered the bluray but after this rewatch I don’t know I want to see it again anytime soon.
No actually lmao just now watching this reaction 4 days later because I didn’t wanna go through that part again
