- Had a good feeling about my chances of landing a jewfish/mulloway so i headed off for a night session. I had no idea of what was about to happen but the good feelings i had were on point as this turned out to be the best lure fishing session ive ever had on these fish. I have a 55lb minn kota and it struggled in that current

Hard to explain exactly what i was feeling but i followed it and when i got there i was thinking this is going to be on. Wouldve bn happy with a single jewy let alone 10 legals 🤣 honestly ridiculous 🤯

Thanks mate but u dont see the whole retrieve on most of those caught an its a heavy jighead aswell. So the lure is deeper than u think 👍

Did you find the fish where mid or top water column as the tide looked like it was running hard and you where casting down stream so lure would be getting pulled up higher in water ??
@@michaelwall3530 the jointed lure i got 1 on was a jackall maekon 180. I was casting every direction mate it didnt matter 🤣 up down left right, just lucky on the night they were thick. Ive never had it like that before.

The commotion was the pelicans, whatever they were feeding on there was alot of hence alot of pelicans. An in turn that food supply had the jewy there in numbers. Luckily i was there mate 🙌 best nights fishing ive had crebo 👍

Awesome session mate super impressive on lures! What weight jig head do you use in the harbour if you don’t mind me asking. Do you wait for it to hit bottom then slow roll back to the boat? Almost looks like it’s not even hitting the bottom before your rolling it back. Doesn’t get much better than this session
Thanks mate i doubt il ever beat that session. Usually running a 5/8 jighead but how deep i fish it depends on where the jewys are sitting. I could see them on the sidescan sometimes on bottom others up higher so i just mixed up retrieves as needed. I do the same on the donut sessions 🤣 sometimes it works others not 🤷♂️

Hi Andrew, I didn’t notice earlier but it looked like, on the last couple, you had hopped the jig head a couple of times and was just winding it in back to the boat when the fish hit. Was that correct?
Yer mate tide was hooking so made it hard to hop it too much. Got fish on both retrieves but thats pretty normal really.

Usually at least 5/8 mate. An6/0 depending on size of plastic 👍 session for the ages no doubts.

I agree mate it was that kind of session. I could see fish on the side imaging an threw out in the general area whether it was left or right. Sometimes yer across current but also threw some up current to. Everything just seemed to work but it was just a once off mate for me to have that happen.

Thanks mate unbelievable fishing that night. No i planned to fish around the bridge just so happened they were on that night. Fished there hundreds of times an never done that before. Im in nsw yes mate.

@@joshparry2867 i cant even remember what night it was 🤣 the joy of having young kids and being sleep deprived mate. The moon was big but not sure if it was full. I never had anytime to worry about it i was catching too many to care 🤣 an it was mid tide i had most bites i remember the electric was going hard as on 7.5 most of the time.

In this video mate im using a certate 5000 with 20lb platypus braid and 20lb daiwa leader. 7 ft samaki rod 15-30 lb but i dont really like the rod that much it was just a spare as my other rod unfortunately had the tip broken off by my boat hatch ages ago 😭 an havnt had the money to replace it yet.

@@danilovujanic3526 just put in lots of hours man. Its pretty much that simple, we used to put in huge hours at night just trying to learn the habits and tides an waterway. So many trips zero bites but kept at it an eventually worked out a decent pattern and its just gone from there. Its short term pain for long term gain 👍

Ive had more jewy donuts in the same area than u can imagine so for it all to happen that night how it did it was incredible. An i dont think ive come down yet 🤣 that will be the next trip with no bites 😂🥓

@@Lowysfishing The surface bite can be tough to endure but you don't need bust ups...I'd guess these epic bites could happen more often than we have time for its just putting in the hours after dark thats tough! ...Those schools have got to be feeding somewhere mate I'd say every night they be feeding hard....another sesh like this in 25 years time?!

Its a daiwa certate 5000 with 20lb braid an 20lb leader. Rod was a samaki archer 15-30 lb mate. Lures varied from 4inch jackall rythm wave to jointed maekon swimbait etc
