thanks so much for taking the time to make these videos- I find them intriguing and informative- well done- well scripted. I always found DBM frustratingly opaque- I'll take the plunge past DBA and join DBMM. just makes me want more rules explanations PLEASE!!
The "brilliant stroke" combat bonus is +2, not +1, so it is more useful than you thought. It's usually better to use brilliant strokes for PIP-doubling, though. FWIW I think irregular generals are better for beginners, as designing a list for PIP allocation with regulars is a bit of an art.
Ah good catch! (Might display how rarely I choose to break out the brilliant commanders! XD) This is an ongoing debate in our club as to whether to teach new players using an irregular or regular army and I definitely see the benefits of the increased simplicity of irregulars.
Using a brilliant stroke doesn't automatically add a +1 modifier to the General's supporting elements. The General still has to actually destroy an enemy element in contact for it to apply.
the problem i have with your video is that you are talking about stuf as if your reading from a script. This combined with that there is no visual refrence realy makes the explenation a hard one to follow. Maybe go over to a digital format and visualise things there. or just write some stuff on a word document or what ever in an easy to understand way and present it to us while your talking. My copy of dbmm is coming this saterday and im realy looking forward to learn more about this hoby. Please keep this up!
All the videos are scripted so it's definitely intentional. There is so much to get through in these rules explanations/discussions that a free form just notes approach would make the videos way too long!
@@irhobbies188 the problem i have is that when you explain something it is done verry quickly with no other visual aide. Like it is nice that you show your army but i dont understand if your explanation has something to do with the army and if it doesn't then it just becomes a distraction for the viewer. As for wwhat i mean with that it sounds as if your talking of a script is that it sounds very monotone. like your speaking while still reading the script. As a history teacher i can tell you that that will garenty some people suddenly noticing that they dont even remember the last thing you said as it all blends into one big mush. So basicly what im saying is maybe see if you can liven up a bit how you talk. It makes the video more pleasant to listen to and more easy to follow. you can still have a script just try and talk a bit more up beat? And maybe add some visual aid and refrence it in a way that it is very clear for the viewer what you are showing/doing. otherwise it will just be another distraction and make the video again more unclear. Im saying this becouse if you want people to watch who are just getting started or are completly new to the hobby. then you want the videos to be as clear as possible.
I really love this series and it's getting me back into WRG. Please keep going with it.

awesome stuff
Great series - but could we get audio in both stereo channels please?
Thanks for pointing that out, I didn't know it was an issue until now, I'll look at how the videos are being encoded for future episodes.
What size are you using for your figures? What is the recommended army to start with? 15mm or 25/28mm?
There's also the (slightly obscure) regular general on an irregular (elephant) element :~)
👍 👍

Had to take a short break but back to the regular schedule!
