Yup, I dropped my neighbors off at the airport along with their car key! A couple miles away I noticed the warning on the dash, turned back and got the key.
I had a friend who had a new Camry and he started the car and went to the store and then turned it off and realized that he had left the key at his house and had to call his wife to bring him the key. And I’ve had three cars and including a motorcycle that are keyless and he is correct it will still run without the key nearby. But if you turn it off it will not start but less you have a key fob
The problem is the design of the system and should NOT be allowed to drive off without KeyFob is in immediate vicinity of the engine start switch. Having a system with this design sets up the manufacturer for a law suit for negligent design and programming.
If youre able to leave the car running in the first place without the key in the car that what the hell makes people think that the car wont stay running?? Stupid.... they think that these cars have sensors that detect the key 400 feet away but not any more than that or something? Had a guy pay me to install a remote start and dude came back not 2 weeks later telling me that somebody else remotely started his car and stole it and it was my fault for not installing the stuff to make it secure from that... i told hin that you have to have the origonal key in the ignition in order for the remote start to work and the package he got said it on the box. So he asked to have that feature bypassed so he no longer needed his key.. so i hardwired the ignition to the push button and to the remote start pickup... when he left his car unlocked a dog could start the car if it pushed the button.. some people are just dumb even after telling somebody "hey dont touch that or itll burn you" they still gotta touch it then bitch abut how it burned em... ha!
Not stupid. A bunch of (mostly old) people died from carbon monoxide poisoning in cars (mostly Toyotas) with push button start after they forgot to turn off the car and left it running in their garage. As a result, carmakers had to put in timeouts, so in many cars, if the car is idling in park without the key for 15-60 minutes, the car will shut itself off.

They figured out how to go from $2 keys to $500 keys. They even sell insurance for keys. Pretty smart marketing.

I can't stand the keyless push button start stop system. I like inserting the key into the ignition.

I find keyless ignition annoying too.
Having the engine stop & re-start at traffic stops is even worse.
@@sameoldeh they say the cams can take it or whatever. But we were told that VEs diesel engines were better as well.
