As much as I'm not a Dornian fan-boy, I felt summing him up as having the "mastery of building walls" was a mega understatement. I'd argue that he was gifted with the mastery of stubborness and defiance. As a master builder, including earthworks and fortifications if he chose to dig his heels in on a world (Iron Cage) very little could get him to feck off again. It was his stubbornness and defiance that led to the Imperial Palace being fortified so it wouldn't fall. It was his stubbornness and defiance that led him to attack a Chaos Warship and get his paws chopped off (because lets face it, he not dead).
He’s also a master of not giving a shit about peoples egos and self beliefs; Rogal Dorn Don’t Give A Fuck and he’s gonna tell you straight what he thinks no matter how it hurts
Pretty much proved correct, in the final Siege of Terra books his mastery of stubbornness becomes even more apparent. Definitely seems more like a distinct ability than a mere personality trait
The Emperor being able to alter people's perception and memory of him seems correct, I found this in the novel Dark Imperium. The emperor had no need to hide his size from Guilliman so its likely a passive ability that he can't completely turn off.. either that or Guy Haley is going for something else here or perhaps no one in GW has thought about this issue Guilliman smoothly drew his father’s sword. Mathieu gasped. He had seen the Sword of the Emperor drawn on several occasions. Every time, he bore witness to a miracle. On leaving the scabbard, the blade burst into flame. Guilliman did not begrudge the priest his awe. There was great warpcraft in the weapon. When the blade was removed from the Emperor’s withered knee and presented to Guilliman by the Captain-General of the Adeptus Custodes, it had somehow fit his primarch’s stature. Guilliman frowned. He tried to remember how tall the Emperor was, but His living image refused to be caught and examined. In some memories, He was as tall as Guilliman; in others, no bigger than a mortal man.
In 1 of the books of the Horus Heresy the Emperor specifically says he changes how he appears to people as his true face would kill the vast majority of people, even Primarchs, so ye he very definitely changes how people perceive him.
@@Barnesofthenorth Heh, funny how that mirrors Christian (Catholic at least) lore that the Abrahamic god would have the same effect on mortal men if they tried viewing him as he is. See also Raiders of the Lost Ark.
I've never delved deep enough, mostly just watching these vids, but has anyone entertained the idea that the emperor could have been an actual chaos God? I just love the irony behind the creation of the Primaris. Cawl is someone that's looked down on by the astartes and yet it's because of him that the Primaris came into being and he manage to achieve a successful conversion for one of the most decorated chapter masters. The Omnissiah works in mysterious, yet logical ways.
Since COVID-19, I have made a (small) part of my income by selling painted models on eBay. It hasn't made me rich, but it has bought me a couple trips of groceries. I couldn't have done it without listening to your vids while painting, Lutein. Thank you so much.
Albeit i´m far from a lore expert, it seems to me that the "super" soldiers of the Astartes should be the Grey Knights and the DeathWatch. Demonic scum and Xenos filth stand no chance when they are upon the battlefield. But now.... Papa Smurf and his band of merry Smurfs. /Shrug
Iirc correctly the Grey Knights and the Deathwatch still outrank and outpower the Primaris marines, as do the Adeptus Custodes. The Primaris aren't all-powerful. They're stronger than your average Space Marine, but they aren't as tactically flexible and they have less experience in the battlefield (at least lorewise).

Instant like Luetin you are amazing and honestly one of the reasons why I love 40k without ever having touched a miniature (I know heresy in it's purest form) keep up the amazing work!
Good stuff, though I do feel Primaris have a bit of an uncomfortable real world aspect. Games Workshop wanted to expand their Space Marines range and existing lore limited that, hence the story you just told of the Primaris development. Having them just be better tramples over the idea of a Space Marine candidate proving themselves then working through scout/devastator/assault/tactical to become a well rounded flexible warrior. I think it'd been more interesting for the Primaris surgery to be something that was available to a Space Marine in a window of a few hundred years after their existing organs had fully matured (after they had worked through the disciplines) and serves as a specialisation rather than a straight upgrade. Instead of 3 extra organs have a range of potential changes that force them into a few roles, losing the flexibility they previously had for more specific power. Those Space Marines too old or that decline the Surgery go on to be the Veterans we know now, their experience used to lead younger squads or deploying as veteran assault/tactical/devastator squads or using terminator armour.

(I've been rereading the heresy books while in self-iso) The speculation that the Emperor made a deal with Chaos to create the Primarchs is pure speculation based on the words of a servant of Chaos known for deception. Anyone who'd give any credence to Erebus and other Warp-things is just twice damned in my opinion lol. He could've gained the power and knowledge from the warp any number of ways. Theoretically he could've even gained the knowledge from his future self. The warp makes anything possible. There's also the Black Library of course.
If you trust that text so much, make note that Emperor saw Horus as he stood in the chamber with gestation pods. He saw him and tried to warn, centuries before. So he knew that Heresy would happen long before. So the whole thing was left to execute as is, without Emperor trying to predict or change the outcome. He had all the tools at his disposal - science, imperial truth. Instead of denying the existence of chaos for the fear of corruption, he could same way approach it scientifically and classify as a physical phenomena of extreme danger. He could made his sons aware and prepared for the dangers of ruinous powers, he could instruct them how to combat chaos and the Imperium would be prepared from the very beginning. Problem is that Erebus was right, as he showed the future, it is truly what came to be. Does that mean the rest of what he showed Horus was true?
@@pointcache pointcache So what you're saying is that-because of the events in the gestation chamber, The Emperor was fully aware of Horus' betrayal and did nothing to change the outcome? Between keeping Horus close and the Council of Nikaea, I'd say he at least tried. The problem is that he couldn't tell anyone about Chaos and I can see why: The Warp is where thoughts become reality and it had been corrupted by countless xenos species before humanity became psychically active. The only way to combat the forces of Chaos was to keep humanity innocent in ignorance while exterminating all cultures and religions with knowledge (or ideas) of such things as demons; especially every xenos species whose thoughts couldn't be controlled (we're talking about a galaxy where "wrong think" can literally destroy the universe). As for whether or not Erebus can be trusted.. well.. every great lie has a tinge of truth. What he showed Horus was a future that came to be because of his betrayal, not despite of it. It was all a lie, despite being the truth.
Taking any one in-universe source as completely accurate truth is crazy. This is 40k we're talking about. What is known is heavily dogmatized, scrutinized, altered to favor some side or person, completely fabricated, or any other method of alteration or subterfuge has been applied. No-one and nothing can be trusted to be truthful, let alone accurate.
@@SecondSince "Everything is canon, but not everything is true." IIRC that's how the authors(?) see it. 40k is one of those franchises that encourages people to believe whatever they want, have their own headcanon, even make up their own fanfic.
It can be summed up as thus: the Primarchs were the ultimate the Emperor could make, one step above the Custodes. Then came the Astartes, the legions to retake humanity's birthright. And when 9 lords and their legions fell, Gulliman ordered Cawl to create an improved version of Astartes for humanity's darkest hour. Let's be honest: the Astartes Firstborn were holding it back well and if things continued as they were, the Primaris would never have been woken. Them being woken is a sign of desperation for the Imperium. And for Games Workshop, because seriously, the stagnation of the plot had to be resolved SOMEHOW. You all begged for it and you got your wish: the plot has moved on. So quit your bitching already.
Primaris are just boring, it's just a different name. There's nothing unique about them, nothing interesting. They could have replaced the ultramarines or something, dunno. As it is, they're just not fun.
I dont even play warhammer, save some of the video games. However the story is just so engrossing that I look forward to hearing the lore whenever I can, thanks!

I enjoy yours stuff just listening to you talk about what we all love so much. I pray Games Workshop takes you into consideration on planning where the Universe should go. Just a great mind for this stuff. Its almost like you are an author in the wings, if not an author someone who could plan how events would correlate to the 40k universe. Awesome job.

Great work as always, and I hope you keep it coming for a long time.
17:20 - the Emperor used his own genes as the template for genetic surgeries and therapies that transform normal human men into Ubermensch giants. Seems reasonable that he might have used these techniques on himself prior to using them on others. We also know that his reincarnation / birth "changed his DNA", so perhaps the ability to change himself physically was one of the traits he possessed, with or without genetic manipulation.

I do feel that the emperor intended to dispose of the astartes and primarchs when the crusade was done. He never cared if they were broken along the way, so long as the task was done, for there would be no need for them to survive beyond. Afterall the primarchs, like it or not, were primarily warriors and not suited for ruling an imperium at peace. We did see him pull power away from the primarchs when the end of the crusade was in sight. Also, it's possible the emperor was a regular sized person. We do see him increase in size when he fought, as well as some people like le priest and corax seeing a regular sized man while weaker minds saw a golden figure.
K Estrado what about the apartments in the palace that were primarch size? I can kinda understand the legions maybe but not his sons. He loved a good amount of them and yes saw some as tools. But it’s been shown that he had plans for his sons past the crusade

While his brothers are an unstoppable force each, Rogal Dorne is an unmovable object.
More of a half joke than an intentional slight.
He’s also a master of not giving a shit about peoples egos and self beliefs; Rogal Dorn Don’t Give A Fuck and he’s gonna tell you straight what he thinks no matter how it hurts
I might describe stubbornness as vast reserves of willpower. Something Horus could have done with a bit more of. We wont mention Fulgrim.
The emperor had no need to hide his size from Guilliman so its likely a passive ability that he can't completely turn off.. either that or Guy Haley is going for something else here or perhaps no one in GW has thought about this issue
Guilliman smoothly drew his father’s sword.

Bravo sir! Bravo!
(I've been rereading the heresy books while in self-iso)
The speculation that the Emperor made a deal with Chaos to create the Primarchs is pure speculation based on the words of a servant of Chaos known for deception.
Derek Drake Papa Khorn thanks humanity for indulging in needless bloodshed and war.
40k is one of those franchises that encourages people to believe whatever they want, have their own headcanon, even make up their own fanfic.

but that also seems to be a more intense remix/master of "When All Kingdoms Fall" by Edgar Hopp
Thank you.
Thank you.

17:20 - the Emperor used his own genes as the template for genetic surgeries and therapies that transform normal human men into Ubermensch giants.

You sir are my hero
May the Emperor guide you brother for your selfless actions!!!
why aren't you higher up in the comments... this music is amazing!
Dude....i love the videos. I've been playing 40k since 6th edition. Your vids have given me insight on a lot of background that truthfully I'm too lazy to read about. I do appreciate the video for what the truly are.
I know nothing about Warhammer, have never played any games in any sense of the word, but your channel has made me incredibly interested in the lore and stories of the Warhammer universe. Great videos and narration, thanks for keeping me entertained in this lockdown!
You know what, Luetin? I just want to say I hope you realize just how much your videos mean to others. Other than your help with me sleeping and hobbing, I want to say I genuinely respect how much research and intellectual integrity you put into each and every one of your videos. I don't know what you're like in real life but I bet you have tremendous intellectual honesty and do not speak your opinion on matters unless you've been educated, which I think is extremely awesome. Obviously I don't know for sure as I'm just some stranger on the internet, but that's the impression I get. Thank you so much. I can say with confidence that you've helped a lot of people and their personal lives in many ways. I remember even reading a comment about a veteran with PTSD saying they really got so much help with sleeping to your videos. And that was just one veteran who posted that. Imagine all of the other people you've helped. So thank you for your content.
wowowoowowowow Lueting, handing out some heavy heresy right at the beginning of the video.
I guess the inquisition needs to pay you a visit.
Seen a comment recommending this channel. Well worth the watch
Damn- I just finished watching this video for perhaps the fourth time, so I can even quote small bits of it (like Galadriel’s narration from “The Fellowship Of The Ring” prologue). But no matter how many times I watch it, that video montage and the music you paired with it never fails to make me pause, no matter what I’m doing- I don’t want to miss even a second of it. It’s such a moving song, and an intense set of pictures. The selection of images is great, it’s really well edited, and (Damn, I hate this term- it’s so overused) epic. Thanks for this awesome video-
I love your channel man, I've never played the tabletop know a couple of people who either do or used to, but I was always interested in the lore from small parts I heard from friends. Upon finding your channel I've become addicted, the way you manage to take a vast amount of lore and make it understandable and super interesting is just awesome. Great job man, really enjoy the content.
Every video of Luetin09 is perfect for having in the background while you sleep
Luetin, saving us from going stir crazy.
Emperor protect you in these dark times friend.
Luetin: I'm going to try to keep this brief.
Me: looks at run time...I'm not even mad.
Why am I willing to listen to 83 minutes of Warhammer lore, but I can't sit through a 20 minute lecture.

A captivating orator makes all the difference.
Man... It was a serious history took my all night to finish as I missed and rewinded back and forth some but worth it...
I love looking at the time on a leutin video, fully satisfied and content with what's already been said, just to see the bar is only half way through and you have double the juicy content to enjoy and relish in. Thank you so much, from all who resonate with this message.
