  • @felazany
    @felazany Год назад +16

    It will never see the light of the day. The government is not committed to see it work because of vested interests from the matatu sector. BRT will take away their market share of public transport.
    In other countries like Tanzania 🇹🇿 their Dar es Salaam BRT started working in 2016. Over in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia 🇪🇹 their tram (light rail) system started operations in 2015.
    Kenya's only hurdle in creating an efficient public transport system is selfish personal interests and corruption.

    • @ericknjogu1824
      @ericknjogu1824 Год назад +1

      You couldn't put it any better. The biggest hindrance to good public infrastructure is those two words, selfish interests and corruption. The government has been unable to modernise Nairobi commuter train system on the existing Kenya Railway land simply because of selfish interests by matatu sector and corruption.

    We should simply go ahead with this vital project by forming a company with the matatu saccos owning 60percent and the government 40percent. The two shareholders should then outsource a management company to run it.

    Kenyans please understand this. It is MORE PROFITABLE for a contactor to start a project and abandon it midway, than to actually implement it fully and be paid for the work done. Many contractors are aware of this, and they simply take down-payment and abandon projects and go to court where big money is to be made with very little work....so please stop expecting a complete project, that will be very very rare.

  • @stuffworksexplained3901

    It will be a tall order for the NAMATA to implement BRT given the level of indiscipline on our roads. Would it have been prudent to construct a new inner lane to cater for the BRT on Thika Superhighway?

    Mr .Murkomen there should be a special clause in the contract for breach of contract that before the project continues there should be 3/4 of the funds to complete the project and the project funds be available on an lien account , that's the only way to have the contractor and the client put to task to complete projects.

    Whether the matatu cartels like it or not, BRT is coming. With electric buses no less. The least the government can do is prioritise employment for those who work in that industry, but matatu days are numbered no matter. what.

    It will never happen. Anyone remember Kenya Bus Service? Jomo Kenyatta ruined Kenya Bus Services (then known as 'Stagecoach') shortly after Kenya gained independence. President Moi had the green buses 'DAF' a.k.a 'Nyayo Bus Service' which lasted but a few months before total collapse. Kenya can't manage anything beyond selling fish and tomatoes by the roadside. Even if this project materializes by some miracle, these cartels who are the very same people seen on this video will be waiting to rake in all the proceeds whatever little for themselves and the BRT will just be another failed project like many others which have come before it and after.
