He is a hare Krishna. They really DO care about cows! But i agree that its still unethical because we don't know whether the cow had consent or not. This is something that's really hard to explain to hare Krishnas. They think if the cows have a good life and aren't killed, it won't hurt them if you take their milk . Someone really needs to explain to them why ethical milk doesn't exist. I grew up with hare krishnas and i myself am somehow a hare Krishna, so i know alot about them. Can you also review a hare Krishna farm? I think its really important since they allways claim their farms are cruelty free.

This video is another money maker for the vegan industry. Why do you care so much about a Person who has taken to the spiritual path and wants to protect cows? How do you know he uses artificial Insemination on his cows? You are just assuming that. A cow goes in heat every 21 days and calls for a bull to serve her. There are plenty of street bulls in India, who will come and take turns mating with the cows in heat, that you can hardly control the cows from not getting pregnant. Believe me, I live in India and am looking after a total of 15 cows and bulls. You don’t have to do anything, they get pregnant on their own (if you don’t keep a strong fence around the bulls). My two cows who have small calves have so much milk, that the calf gets diarrhoea if he would drink all of that milk. In the beginning his mother used to actually kick her calf, because her udder was so full, that it was very painful for her. We had to carefully train her to let her calf drink. Now mother and calf stay together all day and we still need to milk out her extra milk, so she will not develop mastitis. All that Vegan talking really is not making any sense to me. To keep mother cow and calf healthy, you need to milk out the extra milk. And for your information, my oldest cow is 21 years old. We take care of her just the same as taking care of the younger cows or bulls. Making money by making videos, criticising other cultures and beliefs is really not on. Go and clean up your own yard before criticising others.

In India it's not like usa's large 1000 to 5000 cow dairy. Mostly in villages of india in almost every household there is one or two dairy animals. They treat them as their child they don't force them to give 30 liters of milk or send it to slaughter house. In most cases we don't use artificial insemination so it's like natural cycle in wild animals. We don't separate the calves from their mother. In most indian states cow slaughter is banned and even in more than half of states have banned bull slaughter too. An average indian cow gives 5 liters of milk a day which is natural. We know about how to selective breed and got more milk but it is not good for their body structure. So in most cases we avoid it. So if you are not a dumb than explain how it is cruel for them. And don't think that i am protecting these gurus I am explaining how it works in most basic cases. I myself have felt the love from my cows.

It was truly sad because I enjoyed the company of many people together eating a vegan meal, but after this nonsense, there really is no point in attending just another animal exploitation group.

It always amazes me that when a hobby is transformed into a business then it leads to a darker goal. Drinking milk was supposed to be a healthy thing however, once the Dairy Industry came in existence they changed everything and forced the cows to be impregnated over and over for benefitting themselves. In my village we drink milk only when a calf is born which happens like 2 or 3 times but not more then that.

Not worse than Sadhguru. Sadhguru's point was that as long as you can keep them alive you can put them through misery. This guy at least is on board with the premise that one should not inflict suffering on sentient animals (but is somehow not acknowledging the suffering inherent in the cycle of forced pregnancy). Also, taking meat from a dead (and not killed) cow is morally unproblematic (provided the cow is truly free while living), though I agree that goes against 'cow is our mother.'
So, overall, certainly not worse than Sadhguru.

    Hello David, Greetings from Germany.
I have been watching your videos since the beginning of this year. Please let me begin by appreciating you and thanking you for the great work that you have been doing for the welfare of our voiceless co-inhabitants of the planet.
I can understand western people falling for ' Krishna organisatons' because some of them might be interested in the philosophy taught by them, which, unfortunately, has been doctored and twisted to suit western audiences. But what truly bothers me is that Indians follow such organisations and stray far away from the non-dualistic truth of universal oneness taught in the Upanishads, the highest stage of Vedas. All Indian scriptures are deep metaphors, which most uninformed people take in the literal sense and hang on to stories such as 'Krishna loved bovine milk, butter, etc.' It's such a pity that many Indians wouldn't be willing to invest about three to four hours to read and understand the Srimad Bhagavad Gita but would love to listen to all the drivel preached by certain multi million dollar international organisations. There is another video with such a 'monk-like' person selling ' ahimsa' (non-violent) 'veggie-vegan' milk! Now, what the hell is ' veggie-vegan'! It's something like 'non-violent murder'!
Since your cause also is to put sense into people's heads and help them go VEGAN, I take the liberty to put the link to my post "The ‘Veggie vegan’ twaddle" on that bizarre concept of ' veggie-vegan' here. tavamithramsarvada.wordpress.com/2018/03/01/the-veggie-vegan-twaddle/
You might alsso want to comment on the video of that ' veggie-vegan' ' monk'
Thanks again and I wish you all the very best in all your awesome endeavours.
From an animal loving, healthy and happy 100% vegan.

Typical videos of vrindavan are shared of cows roped or running away and everyone praises and loves them as they think having cows is amazing because of photos and pictures of Krishna with cows. They seem unconcerned about breeding forceably or insemination or the way its done..and although they say they take milk from happy cows whose babies are not killed generally the lie, they buy from regular milk suppliers, sweets and curd from shops not knowing which cow it's from. Pregnant cow they think is OK, they don't understand consent in impregnation or sexual process..they think its female Goddess who are supposed to give birth and work for family. They have no laws against marital rape in India. So much for feminine Goddess worship.

Veganism and spirituality are a very natural pair. Spirit is quick to enlighten people on the futility of engaging with needless violence and harm towards others and even most religions are quick to acknowledge the fact that harming others does not align with the interest of our highest selves.
This is why it blows my mind that I see such little veganism among spiritual circles.

Many things you say are not true. There are cows on a farm near here that give milk six years after they have given birth to a calf. There is no demand for milk here and it has to be poured out every day. Yet the cow has to be milked and requires milking. Sometimes the milk is processed, but most is simply thrown away because there is no license to sell it.
I don't have anything to do with the cult of the white guru, but I do know that the cows in the video are from a farm where they have been cared for their entire lives. Even if they don't give milk, they continue to be cared for, not sold to slaughter. There are couple of such farms in my country where cows are cared for even if they do not give milk.

Unfortunately, a vegan diet and goo character are not necessary characteristics of "enlightened" people. They typically are, but they're not a given. Enlightenment only means understanding what is fundamentally true about reality -- it does not imply kindness, decency, veganism or any such thing. Think of it this way: the idea of gravity seems fundamental to our world (I mean, it would be super hard to argue against it on an experiential basis) but knowledge of this does not preclude dishonesty or cruelty. Enlightenment is similar in that sense. One must not make the mistake of equating "enlightenment" with a socially desirable character although "enlightened" people, as a general rule, tend to avoid unpleasant behaviour as best they can.

The real reason they won't go vegan is that they are milking the Hindu community too (for donations) by putting on a holy man act. Temples are businesses. Prabhupada, like the Maharishi, was just one of the first to see the potential of expanding business to the West & providing home-from-home "Hindu Lite" services for the Desi community. If they said no to dairy, which they should do due to how milk is produced in the West, they would just lose most of their income.
The overseas Hindus would just go to a different temple where they would get the sweet, milky foods they are sentimentally addicted to.
Part of their thing is to keep alive a historical way of life. They claim it is a "vedic", or 5,000 year old, way of life but really it is just an indealized 600 year old way of life dating back to when the revivalist movement was started by Chaitanya Mahaprabhu (C15th). A bit like what the Hassidic Jews are to Judaism.
The question does, however, raise issues for vegans & veganism as to how to apply vegan principles to people still living as they did 500 or 600 years ago, which many of the poor in India (& elsewhere) basically still are doing.
I'm not condoning the exploitation of cattle for either food or labor but I do think we have to work out & propose transitional or sustainable models for them just as, say, Miyoko's Creamery is doing in the USA.
Low tech or artisanal B12 & D production would be one part of it, e.g. bacterial fermentation or algae-type production. At present, given how tied to rural lifestyles buffalos and cattle are, it's kind of do or die for them. The bigger problem being the national dependency on such farmers for food (ie you can't just tell them to "get another job", because their nations depend on the plant foods they produce).

Sorry david, but you disappointed me this time.
For the cows, using brushes ward off parasitic outbreaks, scratch itches and remove dead skin. Grooming helps many species - including cows - cope with stress.
Also, there is no forced copulation in cattles like cows. Mating only happens when a cow is in heat.
The cows which are shown in video are from India, and that too from a 'Gaushala'. These were the street cows that were thrown by their owners. Many of helpless street cows are captured by any local butcher if they are in open. But there are 'Gashalas' which rescue and provide shelter to such cows. And it's not like America here...,in such Gaushalas the calf is first fed with the sufficient milk required, and after this only if there is any milk left that's taken out for use.
And btw , the monk who you are targeting comes from a organization which made lakhs of hardcore meat flakes to leave meat permanently. Not only meat but also made people free from bad habits of drug addiction, illicit sex, gambling etc.. and is doing this today too. It has distributed food to over 8 billion needy people and distributes millions of needy now as well. Even during COVID pandemic as well, millions of plates of food were distributed, and facilities like hospitals were provided, and all this free of cost. Even in Russia Ukraine war, that organisation is providing food and other relief to people. It provide food and other relief during natural disasters, crises, and to people facing hunger and poverty.

This is the hidden secret of -Sadhguru- Jaggi Vasudev’s life. Jaggi Vasudev had an affair then murdered his wife then burnt her body. His father-in-law lodged a police report.
(He claims that his wife had gained enlightenment and it was her wish to leave her body. It is obvious in the Indian Spiritual Tradition that you never burn an Enlightened person’s body. You entomb it. But knowing the conniving person that he is. He will come up with an alternative explanation like there are many versions of enlightenment and that it is acceptable to burn the body in some versions of enlightenment which most Indian familiar with authentic Indian Spiritual Traditions will know is bullshit.) Most people think in two ways either a Guru is the real deal or a fraud. However other than in terms of money a fraud is harmless. This man is of the third type, an malevolent Spiritual master he masks his real bad energy and powers with a facade of positive energy and powers. My guess is he put his wife under a trance either true hypnosis and/or occult energies to make her a willing participant of murder.
Jaggi Vasudev then fled to the US and then formulated a plan. He started planting trees gained a Guinness record then gained the attention of the UN. This gave him access to the President of India, Modi. He made use of this access to create and strengthen his relationship with Modi. The police case and report magically went away and people stopped focusing on it. After this he was able to go back to India, Tamilnadu, and have free reign to do whatever he now wants.

Pre-industrial agriculture means breeding cows so that you have bulls to work the land. The idea isn't to breed cows just for milk, but for working bulls. The Swami neglected to explain this. Modern food production (including vegan foods) depends on petrol powered machines. Machine-based agriculture is hardcore exploitation and destruction of the earth, and absolutely unsustainable as it depends on non-renewable resources like oil. Vegans never consider the environmental consequences of industry and machines when analyzing their own food. A milk-drinker that uses oxen to till his fields is treading far lighter on the animals and the earth compared to a modern city dwelling vegan that depends on industrial agriculture and modes of transport.

      The TRUTH about ISKCon:
Some of the following four points apply to practically any "religious" organization, not only to ISKCon.
Nota bene: I refer to the founder of that pseudo-religious organization by his proper name, Mr. A. C. De, and NOT the name that he is called by the ultra-fundamentalist fanatics who follow him, "Śrila Prabhupada", for reasons which will become obvious when reading the following.
      1. A spiritual master ought to be a member of the Holy Priesthood ("Brahmana" class), although admittedly, some kings (such as Lord Śri Krishna, to give a perfect example) have acted temporarily as gurus.
However, a worker or business owner is not to assume the role of a spiritual teacher.
Mr. De was a member of the working-class, since his adult life was devoted to operating a pharmacy. According to the Supreme God (whom you call "Lord Krishna"), workers are not to become renounced monks at any stage of their lives (what you call "sannyasa"). Priests ALONE should enter this final stage (“aśrama”), which ought to be obvious to any intelligent person.
      2. Mr. De has repeatedly stated in public (search RUclips for some of his "sermons") that ISKCon's main purpose was cow-protection. So ISKCon is primarily a cow protection society, and by "protection", they mean to literally STEAL their milk, which brings me to the topic of proper diet:
Food in the mode of purity promotes good physical and mental health. Such foods include (above all) fruits, vegetables, nuts, pulses, grains, roots, flowers, seeds, herbs and of course purified water (or milk, in the case of infants). Milk is intended solely for consumption by infants of the same species. Cow’s milk is for baby cows, not adult humans. The logic is overwhelming, but unfortunately, not all persons are capable of reaching such a base level of logic to understand that it is unnatural for a human to suckle on the teats of a cow or goat.
      3. Although ISKCon officially teaches Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu's doctrine of panentheism ("acintya bedābeda tatva"), the simultaneous and inconceivable oneness but differentiation between God and God's "creation", in practice, its founder and all members since the foundation, are very much dualistic, failing to understand the simple truth that there is but ONE existence, consciousness and bliss ("sat chit ananda", "aham brahmasmi", “ayam ātmā brahma”, "so'ham", "tat tvam asi").
Not only that, but most ISKCon devotees will become visibly (or even audibly) hostile upon hearing a self-realized person declaring himself as “Brahman”. So much for following Vedanta!
      4. Because, as mentioned previously, Mr. De was an ultra-fundamentalist pseudo-religious fanatic, and an ignorant "śūdra", none of his disciples and grand-disciples, et cetera, can ever attain to self-realization, for as Lord Jesus Christ rightly stated two millennia ago, "A student can never be greater than his teacher".
Therefore, if one has ambition to become even more "realized" than Mr. De, he ABSOLUTELY must seek training from a guru who is on a higher state of spiritual understanding and realization than Mr. De, or any of the current ISKCon "sannyasins".
If you can see the obvious truth in my words, you are welcome to email:
      SpiritualPsychotherapyServices@gmail.com
for a copy of "A Final Instruction Sheet for Humanity", which are the most ACCURATE spiritual precepts in the history of the planet.
Otherwise, search online for lectures by such GENUINE masters as Swami Sarvapriyananda, Professor Alan Watts, and Avatar Adi Da Samraj.

@@davidramms I am a vegan myself for more than 2 years. I have closely observed the Hare Krishna lifestyle since my childhood. What I can say about them is that they don't artificially inseminate cows like other mid-size dairy industries do in India. They don't sell cows once they stop producing milk. They allow them to live their natural life span and do take care of them in their premises of the temple. Cow dung and urine are used as manure in organic farming in Hare Krishna's garden. They give one-third milk to the baby calf and two-thirds milk is consumed by them. And another point is they don't use leather which you mentioned in starting. Leather is prohibited in Hare Krishna's temple.
The amount of milk produced in this way is very little which is mainly used as curd/buttermilk/ghee/panner in Hare Krishna's kitchen and restaurants (known as Govinda). The point is that India can't produce milk in this way for 1.35 billion people as it will require 4-5 billion cows. So the ultimate goal should be to go vegan.
      Peace!!

Congratulations on being vegan however, in truth, I think that's just Hindu mythology & still fails vegan ethics. A truly natural cow, e.g. like a wild buffalo, wouldn't let a human anywhere near her or her udders. If cows would, then they had already been captured, punished, tied down, killed & selectively bred etc etc in the process of domestication.
      Domestication isn't vegan.
In ancient times, the slaughter of cattle, e.g. for offerings, was also common. Presumably of all the male ones in order to keep a balance of the sexes to suit humans, like 1 bull for 20 cows.
There also arises the problem of consent. The cow cannot consent in the way a human mother can. She is restrained & it is taken.

@@billyseaborn612 Being vegan is the only way to follow Ahimsa as far as possible. It is the natural extension of that Hindu belief. Not breeding cows would reduce costs for society, & losses for farmers. Even road deaths & accidents. Normally in the West, we don't leave our mothers tied up by a rope around her neck in a shed all day, standing in her own crap & pulling her breasts twice a day, then abandon her on the streets to forage on garbage & consume plastics & wires*.
Unlike Indian men, we stop breast feeding around 6 to 9 months old.
We don't mock you for "calling cows your mother", we critize anyone exploiting, & abusing them. And breast feeding from a different species.
Cows milk is for cow children.
It's a shame that the status of human females in India wasn't as high as you claim ... dishonestly ... your cattle have. It's a euphemism (व्यंजना), Billy. A cover up for nasty, exploitative behavior.
      * In one study 95% of stray cattle had gastrointestinal disorders following ingestion of plastic bags and other foreign bodies.
Gaushalas are used as breeding centers allowing the indiscriminate breeding of cows, which causes overcrowding, & for milk sales, leading to the separation of calves from their mothers & other welfare concerns.
