To say the downtown area is unsettling is an understatement, it’s honestly like something out of a zombie movie, it’s creepy

I’m a senior and just found your channel, I live in a small modest house, and am on a pension, I want to stay in my own home, but property taxes and utilities will force me out, I spoke to the Mayor regarding property taxes but they keep increasing, this is another video you could address, but we need to stay positive and not be to critical of our town🇨🇦🇨🇦

It's really a shame that St.Catharines is feeling the effects of bad economic times. I lived there for the first 23 years of my life. I've been in California for the last 20 years. In LA, we have literal tent cities. We have people living in their vehicles and fentanyl addiction. The crime rate, like burglaries and home invasions have increased. However, these problems don't exist in all areas of LA. I get the sense that the area to avoid in St.Catharines is downtown. The North End is quiet and safe. You have the beach, schools and homes that are far away from downtown. I hope the City of St.Catharines can find a solution soon.

Old glenridge is the worst. It has a huge soup kiten and shelter and people wander around trying to open car and house doors every night on their way to get a free dinner. People coming from gta just see these glorious older homes and have no idea what they are getting into. Beware old glenridge! Realtors make it sound so fabulous, but it's scary here. Our realtor never told us about southridge and its residents.

Pretty well all downtown areas have lots on homeless people so it is not unique to St. Catharines. left in 1987

That's the federal not doing their due diligence in venting immigrated coming into this country. The existing government is allowing alot of criminal into the country.
St. Catherine was known for being close to the boarder and a university city.
Does matter where you go in this country. Honesless and easy assess to drugs is everywhere in this country.

I, myself living in St Catharines is Really Really Beautiful, Its pretty attracting to Tourists, and its History is very Popular, St Catharines I recommend is a Great City, by Far more Luxurious and Nature Loving City, There can be drugged out people, But thats a very Rare Sighting. Our Gas Prices dropped down a little and its Obviously a Tourist attracting Place.

I want out of here... St Catharine's is getting worse. I moved here from Toronto many years and it never felt like home, neighborhood isn't friendly at all, theft is common. Homeless people are a common sight and if you decide to walk at night you'd better stay away from the downtown area, not saying they're all bad but if someone is spun out on drugs anything is possible.
Personally I wish I never lived here, but work was my reason to reside here.

How is the drug and homeless problem compared to Toronto? You can see any kind of strange/ high/ homeless people in Downtown Toronto. Is st Catharines problem worse than Toronto?

The downtown cores of Hamilton & St Catharines are both in similar shape to Toronto. From what I’ve seen, the three spots I’d pick for peaceful living are the East Hamilton Mountain, Burlington, or Oakville.

Listen... to be fair... I've been living in the Niagara area for quite a while myself & I'll say that it's not the picture you pose here. Alot of these people work. They are single people trying to find work, trying to keep jobs in a tent... They are seniors for god sake... trying to find a place to live...cz they can't afford to buy a house, nor get a high rent apt.every month either... Cannabis is legal now so I don't call that drug use. Even the upper middle class & millionaires indulge in marijuana . & that syringe that you speak doesn't run rampant either...Instead of pointng the obvious from your POV why don't you use your real estate endeavours & get a few of them some help... a rental, a good mortgage... I think you'll be surprised... that there's a ton of smart ones too with skills, tradesmen, tradeswoman....

Did he just show pictures of Kensington Philadelphia well talking about kitts what a nerd. The worst thing about purchasing a house in Saint Catherine’s would be if he was your neighbour.

Agree fully. This is a very one-sided unsubstantiated characterization of one area. He uses video footage and images that are either stock images or from other major cities (i.e., New York and Chicago) to characterize a narrative that will obviously serve his economic interests in selling properties in other areas of the region. In his other videos he has spoke so highly of Welland, but the very issues he depicts here are evident there, too. This over-simplified representation of a complex social issue that is prevalent across Canada, is quite irresponsible. To use police data without providing a relative comparison to the regional average is statistically negligent.
To the creator of his video - do better. If you care so deeply about the region you grew up in, do your research responsibly and don’t reinforce stereotypes that only serve to bolster your economic gain.

same stuff goes on in Victoria BC--at least it's not as bad as the USA. They could have housed all these people across canada in the old Hamilton Mountain Mental hospital but instead they tore the place down. It was Enormous !

I moved to St.Catharines from Brantford in '84.
Everything was fine and wonderful in Brantford, once I moved to St. Shitarines that's when all the bullying started. And it lasted until I got the fuck out and moved to Hamilton.
Great schools???? What a fuckin' joke. My bullying started my first day of school in Sept '84 and continued until I moved.
And the faculty did absolutely NOTHING.
If you want your child to be bullied and develop depression and anxiety......ya, St. Catharines schools are perfect.
I was in living HELL while living in this pathetic city. I was SOOOO relived to get the opportunity to move.
I would NOT recommend this city to anyone.
