If you listen to Helen O'Connell at the end, she shared which country had the most MU wins at that time and the last time USA won. She was preparing the TV audience or USA's victory. This was the last pageant Helen hosted. She and June Lockhart were the best.
2nd runner up was too low for her tbh, she definitely could of beaten Scotland. Even USA. Top 2 could be NZ and PH, but USA was a correct choice to win. Shawn was all you could ask for

Miss Philippines gave the worst answer of all and Miss USA was just okay. NZ spoke so well and was the most elegant of the finalists. She deserved the crown or at least First Runner-up.

Why so? The first-runner up in 1975 was a black woman from Haiti, as well as Miss Universe winner 1977, black and gorgeous, from Trinidad & Tobago. Philippines had already been winners by then twice, and Peru, Colombia and Venezuela had already won a MU crown each. I don't see the racism there!
