Haha. I'm a slow talker also - we're thoughtful. People can always speed playback via the gear. Anyways just found your channel and subscribed. I have had the H5 for 5 years and didn't really know how to use it. Your vids help a lot. I might have to restore factory settings because mine takes forever to boot up and process even a short clip. Thanks! Its refreshing to find a tutorial by a woman. Keep em coming.
If you have a larger SD card it will take a bit longer or if the formatting is off. I would try to use 32GB and format it using the Zoom H5. It is a great tool that I use all the time. You know you can run it through a camera MIC input to record to your camera.
Hello Deb, have you tried using any of the newer zoom mic attachments such as the shotgun mic for the H5? Will the sound quality be much better than the standard mic that zoom provides with the H5? Thanks for the videos
They offer different types of sound. I had tried The round mic attachment and have been wondering about the directional. I think they are All pretty good with different applications.
great tutorial, thanks a lot @Deb Erney! i had a question though, i’m trying to connect my ipad to the zoom h5n. when i connect it via the 3.5mm jack on the XY channel, everything’s fine. but i want to use the XY mics when i record so i tried to connect my ipad to the combo jack (using a 3.5mm to 6.35mm cable) but the sound is awful. do you have any suggestions on how can i fix that?
Thank you for this! I am borrowing a Zoom H5 to conduct an interview that is being held over a videocall on my computer. Is it possible to record the interview where I record the computer audio and also my own voice at the same time?
Yes, you can. Use your computer output into one of the zoom H5 inputs then adjust placement of mic capsules to get best audio for your voice. You can also go one of these options with out the other as you should be getting output from your computer. As always DO A TEST AHEAD OF TIME to figure out what works best for you.
Thanks for the run through - I need a device to record my guitar amps and synths, this seems like a great option. IT should also work great as a way of recording samples for my Volca Sample.
the one w/ record from stereo, or anything w/ headphone output would apply to mixer headphone output to two channels of the zoom h5? How about headphone output from mixer to only channel one of the h5? can be one line TR on both?
Hi Deb. Great video, and very thorough! I have a special case that I wanted to ask you about. I'm trying to find a device to record a stereo line source and also a mic input, simultaneously, and separated onto three tracks. The plan is to record computer audio while I'm commentating, and then be able to export the multitrack back into my computer so that I can adjust the relative levels of the stereo track and my mic. Do you know if this is possible with the H5? Thanks for any help you can provide!
Yes it is possible. The onboard mic for commentary then plug in the 1/8 with a Y cable. amzn.to/3bI6Clr You may want to look into the Zoom H6 as it offers a few more inputs, but you can get by with the 1/8 to 1/4 Y cable with the H4n, H5, H6 amzn.to/3dhQ6JC
hello medam please make video on zoom h1n and zoom H2n . i have both . i would love te hear it from you. have seen many video but they are not well explaind i guss. Rgts Alina
hey so ive been wondering. is it possible to record your left right mic at the same time along with a lavalier mic i will put into the 1/8 mic jack? basically my idea is to put the h5 in my backpack but wire my lavalier mic into my helmet to record my voice but also record the sounds from outside while riding on my motorcycle. how would i go about adjusting the lavalier volume and also the L and R volume? most likely i wouldnt need the lavalier input to be super high since itll be 1cm away from my mouth inside the helmet. for the L and R input, id like to set it a bit higher so it can catch that engine/exhaust sound if that makes sense
Please.. Can I record audio from a Dincord mixer to a 5H Zoom with original sound and effects sound at the same time? Can you tell me the name of the cable? Thank you
you're the BEST!!! also love that shirt at the END!!!
thanks is amazing
Thank you the most visual friendly tutorial
beautiful video. Quick tutorial, easy to follow....thank you
You're welcome!
such a useful video! Wow! Thank you

@@DebErney Good idea. Pretty sure the SD card is bigger than it needs to be. Thanks!
Damn....thank you. I was thinking about all the possibilities and here you are with everything i had questions about 😀🤪👍
great video, cheers!

You will need a connector like this. amzn.to/3rgOjvx
@@DebErney thanks a lot! i’m gonna order one and update you on the performance, have a great day!

PS. I dont need the quality to be super good, just good enough that I can understand what is being said afterwards

Computer audio to the H5 inputs with the mics on for your voice. You may need an adapter 3.5 to 1/4 Y

You can record anything that will adapt to the H5 inputs with cables. Be sure to start with low volume.
@@DebErney thanks!

TRS=stereo TR=mono. It’s wise to match your plugins with the output. Headphones are usually stereo and can be split to two mono TS cables.
Thanks. i think you can record stereo line in in multi track mode?
You record 4 tracks for any arrangement you’d like. Yes.
oh my gosh. thanks
thank youuuu

In a nut shell the Zoom h1n is meant for dictation, the H2n is a bit better designed toward simple music recording.

The onboard mics are disabled with external plug in.
Great video thanks Deb, How about recording a two way convo on iPhone 11 with permission of course! Cheers D
thanks mom
Your welcome son
How can I record from a DJ's speaker, sound board and a mic receiver? thanks
The zoom only has 4 inputs. You could run the headphone outputs into the zoom. Any OUTPUT (any of your devices)can plug into any INPUT (ZOOM H5)
@@DebErney thanks for your reply! I meant one at a time. Will it be the same setting on the H5 menu?
Please describe in detail Auto recording. Mine will Auto record but it won't Auto Stop which is a big flaw as far as I'm concerned
Read ur manual on auto recording. I don’t use it, but you can set off/on levels.
Great! I have one!
sounds better at .75 speed on YT
I've been told I talk incredibly slow so I speed it up about .75.
I love my H2
love all my Zoom products. if Zoom makes anything I'm looking for thats what I will buy.
Deb , my H5 is melting the rubber!!!! What i have to do?
Well, smart ass, you will have to scrape it off and keep using it. 😂. I still use it unless I need to film with it.
thank you! very helpful but why is your audio sped up? we're you in a hurry? lol
I’ve been told I speak to slow.
Why are the zoom devices, the screen protection manufacturing quality is so bad, and if you clean it, it will scratch easily I really hated it
I’d have to wonder what you are using to clean it with?
Please..

You can use your mixer main outputs into the H5 XLR or 1/4”.. not familiar with Dincord. Use the main outputs or headphone output. .
