Great acoustic performance of such a great song. Taylor loves a bridge! And the greatest thing about her voice - both tone and cadence - and her guitar playing is how well they convey the emotions of each song. She truly is a storyteller. “If the story’s over why am I still writing pages” is the most Taylor Swift line ever. The haunted club line really embodies that sense of her memories of this relationship haunting all the places they went, the things and places they once shared - even though the only thing they share now is this small town. The chandeliers flickering behind the love they boarded up because just because it’s over doesn’t mean it wasn’t once great. And the malaphor of “I dress to kill my time” is just fun. Have you checked out her Grammy museum performance? All of it - including her performance of Wildest Dreams (just her and an electric guitar) - is well worth checking out. She also did some great vids of the process of her writing some of her songs from Reputation that you’d probably love. (King of My Heart and I Did Something Bad are personal faves).
Thank you! Very insightful break down! I thought that too about her town is the only thing they share and the chandelier 'flickering' maybe a reminder of how great their love was or that for her at least, there is still a flicker of love deep inside. I love that about her songs they way she lets us explore and think about it. I appreciate the recommendations too. I've added them to my list. Thanks again! ❤️

Ok- 2nd video I’ve watched. I LOVE your reactions! And I soooooo appreciate that you go over the lyrics line by line AFTER the song!!!! At first I was soooo afraid that you were going to miss the greatness of her writing if you weren’t watching the lyrics videos or adding subtitles to read while watching- however, 2 videos in and I greatly appreciate how you are doing it👏👏 I watch ALL Taylor reaction videos (as I know all Swifties do) and you are the first I’ve seen do it this way! Now- about Taylor’s writing…..it’s phenomenal isn’t it? From the lyric, to the song structure, to the bridge?!!!! She is known for ALL OF THE ABOVE being so far and above beyond the norm. And she’s been that way since day 1 at 15 years old or whatever age Debut came out. She has ALWAYS written her own music, usually with co-writers. Speak Now, her 3rd studio album, was written when she was 19-20 and is entirely self written. She did that to prove a point. Total badass. I don’t know about her first 2 albums, or even Red- but I know since 1989 she has been pretty much writing and producing probably 85-90% of her work- if not more than that. Most of the producers she works with credit her to coming to the table with a complete idea, song structure (except maybe help maneuvering words to match the cadence or something small like that) and even an idea of the SOUND that should go with the song 🤯 Her songs are generally not written to track, although she has done it that way a few times. Usually it starts on the piano or guitar, with just Taylor and her iPhone, in her living room🫶🫶🫶🫶
she's been a main writer since her debut album (Taylor Swift) and she wrote Speak Now by herself because after Fearless people were saying she didn't do much of the writing just cause she had cowriters. So she proved those people very wrong and got a grammy for the song Mean from Speak Now and there's a performance from the grammys for mean that i think is excellent :)
Priest and Maiden on one bill is always fire! I hate to admit I missed them back in 82 or 83 on the Screaming For Vengeance/ Number of The Beast Tour. Never seen Whitesnake but I've always heard they were great live. 🤘❤️🤘
I appreciate you diving into the lyrics in your videos. I really like Taylor Swift, I respect how she is talented in so many areas. There is also a video out there about how she personally bought Christmas presents for her top fans, and delivered some personally. Artist recommendation; HaleStorm. Lzzy Hale is great I've seen them in concert and they put on a great show whether its a small venue or an arena. Her brother Arejay is the drummer, and he is amazing to watch.
Thank you! She's a great poet so it's a pleasure to absorb her art. That Christmas present thing is bananas! How awesome! I appreiate the recommendation. I don't know anything about Halestorm but Lizzy's name and the band's name. I will certainly go down that rabbit hole! Much love ❤️
You should watch Taylor's Tiny Desk concert. This is one of the songs she plays, and it's my favorite performance of the song, better than the studio version and even better than this one. Her guitar playing is outstanding.
She did a Tiny Desk Concert? That's amazing! Usually, it's smaller independent artists that I see on there not a megastar like her. So cool! I will have to check that out, thank you, my friend! ❤️
This is a great song to follow Cornelia St :) this song is in my top 5, the acoustic version anyways. I do like the original bc I love the drums, but man this is hauntingly beautiful!
Hello! I've been having a lot of fun watching your reactions. I don't know if you take recommendations but I would really like to see you reacting to the South-Korean girl group "Dreamcatcher". Their sound combines genres like Pop/Rock, Metal, EDM, Jazz, R&B and a lot more! To begin, i would recommend you to listen to their songs Deja vu, Scream and You & I. Thanks!!
Thank you so much! I appreciate the kind words and recommendation! I haven't hit up any South Korean bands, so I put it on my watch list so I will do one very soon! Much Love ❤️
Loved this reaction. Seeing a metal loving person relate to TS it really amazing. Thank you for getting out of your comfort zone to see what she’s all about. You’ll see how multifaceted she is, if you continue with your Swift journey. I hope you do because it gets so much better with more that you get to know about her. 🤘🏻🫶🏼
Thank you, my friend! I actually see quite a few metalheads here that have become fans of hers. In fact, metalheads pop up in every style of music I've reacted to: country, rap, folk, world music, it doesn't matter. Good music is good music! And Taylor makes great music! I admit, I was surprised when I reacted to that first song, but she immediately won me over. All the Swifties have been so awesome also which makes the journey more fun. Till the next one ❤️
Maybe I'm just projecting (lol)... Beyond the more obvious "memories are painful" theme she's talking about, there's another layer to consider. And that's what makes her a great songwriter. Think about all the shitty, hurtful things that happen in relationships. Micro-aggressions that may not *individually* count for much. But when you're bleeding from a thousand injuries, it's nearly impossible to survive. Not sure who specifically this was written about, but perhaps there was some level of emotional abuse going on, gaslighting etc. That's how it struck me anyway. It's a great song & she's obviously super talented! Happy Sunday! ❤
That's what makes a great song- when you can get multiple perspectives from it. It gets you thinking about it. I can totally see what you are saying, Velouria. Could be a dual meaning certainly. Happy Sunday, my friend! ❤️
Some of the lines are also a reference to american politics. "My hips, my body..." refering on her support on womens right to body autonomy. Just an example. There are a few more.
Oh lordie, please don't react to We Are Never Getting Back Together 🙈 I know your goal is to listen to new content, but I also don't think it's useful to point you towards content you probably won't connect with. I certainly haven't connected to those earlier Taylor pop hits for quite some time now. They are fun, but not profound. And there is no profound or particularly interesting lyric work being done in that song. She has sooooooooooo many better songs even from her albums when she was younger that I am sure you'd connect with 😊
Thank you, my friend! I really do appreciate your insight. When I get into an artist I want to go back through their history to see how they have evolved. For good or bad. My favorite band of all time is Judas Priest but their first album is nothing like what they evolved into, yet it's how their journey began so to me it's very interesting. I'm sure the same will be true with Taylor. I look forward to all things Taylore Swift! Much love, my friend! ❤️

Thank you so much for the kind words, my friend! Before I started this journey I had only heard of her as writing break up songs. But she really surprised me and now I look forward to every song I do because I never know what I'm going to get with her except now I know it will be awesome!
I appreciate the recommendations! I have a list that I keep adding to and taking notes that all you Swifties give me, so thanks for all of it! Until the next, my friend! ❤️
Aww I love that you loved it! You get her! Taylor is a one of a kind, love her so much ❤
She's a force to be reckoned with, for sure! An amazing human too. I love her songwriting!
Love your shirt..I saw Judas Priest, Whitesnake and Iron Maiden at Shea stadium in Buffalo many moons ago, it was fan-freakin-tastic🤘😻
Priest and Maiden on one bill is always fire! I hate to admit I missed them back in 82 or 83 on the Screaming For Vengeance/ Number of The Beast Tour. Never seen Whitesnake but I've always heard they were great live. 🤘❤️🤘
@@BemusingBill it was a raging blazing fire 🚒🔥🤘 I still have my ticket stub, 40 f@@king years later. #LastingImpressions
It was July 17th 1981...OMG I'm an old lady😂. Thank you, your T-shirt took me way back....plus I LOVE your reactions! 👍🙏
I really appreciate how open and unbiased you are in your reaction to Taylor. Thank you for leaving behind preconceived suggestions!
I didn't know what I was in for but I've very happy to have her on my show. She's an amazing artist and a wonderful person. Thank you, my friend! ❤️
If you do We Are Never Getting Back Together, do the rock version. ❤❤❤
Yes! Cool! 🤘❤️🤘
Boy, this song gets me every time. Chills. 😳❤️
Love from Italy ❤
Love from NY❤️❤️❤️
❤️
Great reaction. Thank you.
Thank you! ❤️
❤
❤❤❤❤
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
You should watch Taylor's Tiny Desk concert. This is one of the songs she plays, and it's my favorite performance of the song, better than the studio version and even better than this one. Her guitar playing is outstanding.
She did a Tiny Desk Concert? That's amazing! Usually, it's smaller independent artists that I see on there not a megastar like her. So cool! I will have to check that out, thank you, my friend! ❤️
And yes "Death by a Thousand Cuts" is a literal punishment during the ancient times
Oh, I'm sure you are correct on that! They thought of the craziest stuff back then! Horrible!!
This is a great song to follow Cornelia St :) this song is in my top 5, the acoustic version anyways. I do like the original bc I love the drums, but man this is hauntingly beautiful!
Now that I've seen this I would like to check out the MV for it. I'd love to hear how it sounds with drums! ❤️
You have to react to the into to the reputation tour and her opening song …Ready For It? 🔥🐍🖤
So I've heard! I am so intrigued by that!!! Thank you! ❤️❤️
will you please do outlaw Shot caller from the holler?
I Love you.
Never heard of them so I started a card and found the video. Be more than happy to check it out! Thank you! Love you too ❤️
@@BemusingBill I can't wait to see your review!
Since you are paying attention to me, Can you relate the last song on TTPD "Clara bow" to "fort nite"?
I'll have to do Clara Bow first and see how they connect.
Some of the lines are also a reference to american politics. "My hips, my body..." refering on her support on womens right to body autonomy. Just an example. There are a few more.
Please do Would've Could've Should've, lyrics video.
I've added that to my list! Thank you, my friend! ❤️
Oh lordie, please don't react to We Are Never Getting Back Together 🙈
I know your goal is to listen to new content, but I also don't think it's useful to point you towards content you probably won't connect with.
