This song is actually a perfect bassist's intro to Eugene, in the same way it's a great intro to Tatiana for singers and reactors, and to Vlad for drummers. It's one of their easier songs to play on bass, but it has a nice tapping section in an odd meter, then a heavy bendy part that transitions very quickly back to the tapping, and an outro that has a bunch of weird fret jumps. The most challenging part is jumping from the first chorus to the tapping of the second verse smoothly. It's actually much like Tatiana's switch from growl to clean (only more like how she does it in Perennial or Vortex). Eugene has a few different subtechniques just like Tatiana! I think it's a challenge live even for Eugene. On the album there's a sustained guitar chord over the transition to smooth it out. Live it always sounds a bit empty to me. They don't use backing tracks for guitar or bass, only vocals and a few keyboards, like in this song on the prechoruses. Rush used to trigger guitar parts, keyboard parts, vocal parts, even bass parts. Nothing automated though. Anyway, thanks for doing this with the tablature. It's a big help. You've clearly watched Eugene closely and emulated his odd style well.
Lol this just popped up out of nowhere on my RUclips. Jinjer is my favorite band. You did the song justice, nicely played and very nice looking bass too.
Great work on the covers btw - I admire that you put the time into making the tabs for each song you play. I don't know if you take requests or not, but would you do covers of the Unprocessed Covenant Album? I so badly want to learn the bass parts for any of the songs but I don't have the skill to tab it out like you. Good work 👍
Thanks for directing me to this video. I haven't done much tapping before. How high do you recommend I set my action to make the tapping easier and sound better?
Heya! I am currently learning this song on Bass and wanted to thank you for the tabs! I had a question though, when you are playing the tapping riff and you hit the 17th fret and then the 16th fret, I cannot quite tell which fingers you use for that. Cheers!
Np. I always do 1 finger per fret in the right hand and I like to use middle and ring finger for that specific part. The middle finger is better for reaching the top string.
Man Eugene is a weird dude. He plays so many notes with just the first finger on his left hand. And he does so many weird fret jumps while doing that. Like that bass riff throughout the "Neptune's child" part here. Knowing he's going to have to drop down to the first fret on the E string, why do that riff 6-8-6-7-9-10, then jump from 10 to 1--instead of playing it like everyone else would play it 😂 6-8-6-7-9-4-5 (moving up a string to the D string) so the jump is just 5 to 1 instead of 10 to 1?? And the very last riff: 12-8-0-9-6-3, all on the same string?? Who jumps 9-6-3 on the same string like that?? It's almost willfully inefficient. It could be played across three strings, using frets 0-1-0-3-0-3. But no! Eugene has to be Mr Tricky! It's as if he's deliberately making it harder for himself! I love it!
this seems to be the most accurate version of this tab and cover. thank you for posting going to use it to learn the song for myself. great work
thank you for the amazing cover and tabs! such a cool song to learn

Suprise! Glad you found me! Jinjer is also my favorite band and I would be so happy if more people were able find them and learn their music.

Amazing playing!Thank you for helping us noob bassist to learn hard songs!
Amazing job, great tone and technique!

you nailed it man!!!!hellyeah from Philippines💭🤘🤘🤘
Thanks man!
Fantastic work! :D
I have the Dark Glass Infinity “Pedal”. Do you think I can get this tone with it? Can you show what your settings are on the AO pedal?
Thanks for directing me to this video. I haven't done much tapping before. How high do you recommend I set my action to make the tapping easier and sound better?
Same as all bass. If there is buzzing, raise it. If it hurts to play or is difficult, lower it. Doesn’t have to be exact.

@@evaningalls holy crap doing it that way makes so much more sense! I keep the middle finger for the 16th fret works so much better thanks!
Seriously man, you're good, very good. And anyone fingering a bass like that earns my respect.
But you're not Eugène ;)
Great cover man. But bro, your Gdrive link doesn't have the Pisces GP file? could you upload it.
Sorry, I dont have GP files that far back. There should still be a PDF copy tho.
whats the tuning?
What tuning is this?
Drop A

Check back sometime tomorrow. I'll try to post a link to the track.
@@evaningalls much appreciated
