So the sequence should be mirror, signal, shoulder check. Thanks for your explanation.

In europe is indicators - mirrors - manoeuvre and I think it's a better solution
    1. The signal doesn't give you the right to do the manoeuvre so other drivers should not be confused because they know they have priority(this is the behaviour in europe and maybe it's not the same in Australia)
    2. In the situation at 5:40, if you don't indicate and stop in the middle of the road and a car comes behind what should the driver think that you just did if you don't signal? doing a manoeuvre, hitting something, having a problem or just parked?

In some situations(for example when doing a turn), it doesn’t really matter that much which order you do your Indicator and mirror(s) but when moving off, changing lanes or doing slow speed manoeuvres, it does matter. Most safe drivers will react to someone parked on the side of the road with a Signal.
We’ve taught some learner drivers from the UK here and they always say that they use the M-S-M routine which is Mirror, Signal then Manoeuvre, may be other places might be different.
In situation 5:40, it was light traffic and the car was parked on the side of the road, ready to join traffic. There is no need to indicate yet in this situation when someone is approaching fast because as mentioned , the indicator does nothing but make people slow down for no reason. It’s best to let them pass, then indicate. If there is heavy traffic and we want to join the queue, we can leave the indicator running because we are asking someone to please let us in.

You are wrong my friend - The indicator "signals you intension to move" but it is not compulsory that you move. Therefore I do not really care if fragile driver coming behind me is confused - I am merely showing my intention to move. I would not turn off my indicator to save their feelings. It is Mirror, signal, then shoulder check (for what it is worth - personally I rotate as far as I can, as I do on a motorcycle) and then I will maneuver (if safe to do so).

When changing lanes, the correct and legally required sequence is:
      1. **Signal**: You must first signal your intent to change lanes. This gives other road users notice of your intentions.
      2. **Check mirrors**: After signaling, check your mirrors to assess the traffic situation behind and beside you.
      3. **Check your blind spot (shoulder check)**: Finally, turn your head to check your blind spot to ensure no vehicles are in the area that your mirrors do not cover.
By following this sequence, you comply with traffic laws and ensure a safe lane change.

@@Windy-b9pIn Victoria, Australia, the specific regulations for changing lanes are outlined in the Road Safety Road Rules 2017. Here’s a detailed look at the relevant phases:
      1. **Signal**:
      - **Rule 46 (Giving a left change of direction signal)** and **Rule 48 (Giving a right change of direction signal)**: These rules state that a driver must give sufficient warning of their intention to change lanes by signaling for a long enough period to give sufficient warning to other road users.
      2. **Check mirrors and blind spot**:
      - **Rule 148 (Giving way when moving from one marked lane or line of traffic to another marked lane or line of traffic)**: This rule requires that a driver must not move from one lane to another unless it is safe to do so. This implicitly requires checking mirrors and blind spots to ensure the maneuver can be made safely.
For the exact wording and detailed descriptions, you can refer to the official document of the Road Safety Road Rules 2017 on the Victorian Legislation website or related legal resources.
