That's a very clean burn! Some vendors say the third set of holes are third burn.
So, no concerns with burning it on a tempered glass table? What is the best method of extinguishing at the end of the night?
It does fine on our glass table. I usually just let it burn itself out.

Yeah, it's good for 2 or even 4 people based on how high you keep the flame. It's a very cool fire pit.

If this was on the ground and people were sat all around it on chairs, would you feel more of the heat that seems to be escaping straight upwards?

You can cook with it too, but make sure you set it up right. We make treats and hot dogs with ours.
