    Nice quick little overview, very helpful!
    I'm impressed how sainsmart (and the other chinese manufacturers) keep iterating and improving on the design.
    The spindle fan seems to be chrome-plated now, but have they fixed the balance issues that come out of the box with most of these? When I got mine (and looking at reviews, a lot of other people) the spindle fan isn't built to quite tight tolerances so it will vibrate heavily unless manually balanced.
    The only thing I have my doubts about is the aluminium backplane of the gantry and the cable guide, as I've seen some users mount another steel linear rail to the top with a bracket mounting to the Z carriage as extra guide for the X axis and that massively improves stability, especially in the Z axis as it is now supported from both the side as the top preventing tilt, but with this the cable guide would get in the way and it's harder to mount to a plate of aluminium instead of the aluminium extrusion that can just take some T-nuts.
    I have a 3020 but like a "v1.8" with all the limit switches, mounted power supply, linear rails and slightly upgraded "touch" offline controller, but without the upgraded z-probe, enclosed controller board, two-part spindle holder or cable guide and I will certainly be looking into the 3040 upgrade path whenever I have a need for it and the upgraded control board with ability to add a proper jog controller seems like a must-have if you don't have a PC nearby as the offline controller is a bit lacking.

    Really cool. I am looking at one for engraving copper, brass, and aluminum ingots. Any idea what the resolution is? Just wondering about that for logos, etc.

      I haven’t stress tested the resolution, but I did some finer detail engraving in my first 3018 cnc review video. This might be similar to what you’re looking for. Whatever detail the 3018 had, this machine will be just as good or better.

      @CarbonCoil right on. I just watched the setup video will pick through the rest. Thank you.

    Could you please share details how PSU, controller and spindle are connected? Does spindle controllable from software? PSU - 48V?

    • @CarbonCoil
      @CarbonCoil  6 месяцев назад

      Yes the spindle is software controlled. Not sure about the PSU voltage.

      @@CarbonCoilI'm curious how this works. The controller looks the same as on 3018 Prover V2 - and it is 24V. If spindle is really 300W - then controller must be capable of 12.5A, which I highly doubt.

    what is the max material thickness you can put on this machine. I am looking at buying this machine and i want to create a belt pully for a motorcycle. so the 6065t6 or 7075t6 aluminum block would probably be around 4 inches thick starting

      The effective working area of this machine is listed on the website as 78mm (3" or so, but sometimes the available area might be even less due to bit size). In any case, 4" will be too tall for this machine.
