Looks like a decent option when budget is tight. Thanks for sharing your experience.

cmon ! u are the first video in all of RUclips of an authentic customer from LunYee 3018 Pro Max ! (there is other guy with a 3018 Ultra) I received my lunyeee 3018 pro 3 hours ago! so you beat me ! the machine is heavy but very well made! and well documented ! my power switch (from the board) its already dead 😅 but I read in the amazon comments that is very common, so I try to fix myself this weekend (I cannot turn off the machine so there is no much problem) please update us with your opinion with this machine.

Thank you for the comment! I'll keep you posted if anything changes.
I did some coaster engravings off a log and I was quite happy with how it looked. Right now I am trying to learn Fusion 360 to try and make a fishing lure out of aluminum which will be a longer job needing a tool change. If I can get milling aluminum I'll upload a video will the settings that worked since right now I have no idea how to figure out the feed rate other than guess from defaults and test lol.
      Cheers,

Something to note with Fusion 360 is to set your home with g28.1 command if you are crashing into the work piece at the start. I don't know how to fix it with the offline controller but with a laptop I could open up the command line, jog the bit high and above my work piece, and type "g28.1".
I kept crashing into the bed because unlike Easel that starts at where you zero it in the front corner Fusion randomly goes to a home point I didn't know existed. I think what happens is somewhere in the Gcode fusion adds the return to home code g28 which for me was set on my first part which was small. So with with a taller stock the bit just plunged straight down and kept doing that. Drove me nuts for like an hour.

As someone with two years of experience, I highly recommend avoiding GRBL-based control boards. They often encounter random stopping issues, which can be incredibly frustrating and time-consuming, especially during CNC operations. Despite upgrading my stepper driver to the BT6600 and trying multiple solutions-such as upgrading the firmware, replacing the control board, and using different CNC software, changing usb cable, changing firmware, changing speed, changing power supply, supply voltage, usb settings, by running on different speed, the problem persists. Also when you do automatic z axis via the probe, automatically machine gets disconnected to pc, Unfortunately, this is a problem rarely discussed on online platforms, but it can completely disrupt a job when the machine unexpectedly stops during cutting.

One recent issue I have with a Grbl based machine is that while jogging in 1 mm steps, sometimes the spindle moves extra steps (when this happens in the Z axis the bit can break) . Sometimes while running macros, they get executed twice or even thrice…I noticed this after only after I changed my computer. The other issue is the Z axis motion gets reversed suddenly. Restarting UGS solves this issue.
I suspect the USB comm is picking up noise, I didn’t have this issue with my previous computer…😢😢

I would suggest to buy a high quality cable and it should be as short as possible.
I had a Genmitsu 4030 and switched the controller board to a PlanetCNC controller. I now use it on a Sorotec Compact line 0404 as well.

@@Todestelzer it works fine on no load, when spindle i turn on, the machine gets randomly gets stuck

      @@moinshaikh6684 it’s probably EMI. That’s why I recommend a good PC cable.
You could check if your spindle is grounded properly with a multi meter or just connect a cable to the spindle housing connected to ground.
I would recommend searching for VFD EMI on RUclips or google. I know these machines don’t use a VFD but it’s the same issue.

    Hello can cut foam

    • @NoobsDIY
      @NoobsDIY  Месяц назад

      Hello!
I cant say I have tried cutting foam but I dont see why it wouldn't be able to, I think it would just take some tweaking with the settings on the rpm and feedrate to make sure it is cutting and not tearing the foam.
      Cheers,

The problem with foam is it makes long strings and they will eventually be pulled in by the tool. Try and find a hard foam.
You need a very sharp end mill too. There are special end mills but a uncoated 2 flute wood end mill should work too.
