    I wish I had these videos before I did my outdoor setup. I went with OSD as well and hooked up the MX 1280 amp to 2 rock speakers, and to my existing lanai ceiling speakers. Also went with the 10 inch planter looking sub powered by the SMP 300. I used 2 HEOS Links I got used from EBay as the source which integrates nicely with the other Denon products. Very happy!
    Can’t wait to see the final product!

    Thumbs up to the buddy crew. I've trenched (and used pvc conduit) here in Clearwater, Fl for my inground pool plumbing, and for electrical wiring by myself (did not rent a trencher, because I also have irrigation system). It was a three weekend project. Unfortunately, I'm from up north so my buddys, and my three adult boys are in three different states. Mike, as you measured for the drilling I almost yelled "four more inches further off the ground". The slab foundation in newer homes here in Florida are quite high due to no slope causing slow drainage issues. Great job, nonetheless.

    • @Youthman
      @Youthman  3 года назад

      Thanks David. We REALLY thought we measured correctly. From the inside, we measured from the ceiling to maybe 4 or 6" above the carpet. Went outside and measured from the soffit down to that same measurement. Apparently the soffit is NOT the same height as the ceiling in my theater room. It ended up working out great but was certainly a chore drilling through solid concrete.

  • @davel6979
    @davel6979 3 года назад +1

    Omg, I empathize with the challenges of drilling through solid concrete. I screwed up and nearly drilled into an adjoining corner wall but came out just before the intersection and was able to make it work! Very difficult to maintain the angle while pushing through 8 inches of solid concrete and come out where you intended. I also could of hit a rebar too!

    Would you mind sharing your SMP1000 settings? I have that amp and two of the same 12" OSD subs in parallel (4 ohm load) and I keep tripping the overload protection when trying to figure out the correct max volume setting. -5db is the highest I can go without tripping at max source volume. But +5db sounds amazing. I'm wondering if there a setting you recommend in the Amp, or if I should go with a DSP between the source (Chromecast audio) and amps (I have a separate XMP500 70v and 10x 70v 6" OSD Forza speakers)

    • @Youthman
      @Youthman  3 года назад +1

      Hi David, originally I was going to place one on the left side of the sitting wall next to the fireplace and the other on the right side of the sitting wall, OST recommended a place one close to the house to increase the boundary gain and provide more bottom end so I moved one of them close to the house. The other side of the house would not work as it would put the subwoofer Completely away from the listening area

    • @techhobbymk2305
      @techhobbymk2305 3 года назад

      Subs have no direction so you can put anywhere in your backyard, but choose a place close to wall and corners will enhance the bass response.

      I definitely recommend getting one or more (depending on how large your area is). The subs fill in the lower octaves quite nicely.

      Wondering why you would potentially be so low to ground? Coming up say 1 foot would have left you room at the perimeter of house for trimming, and alleviate potential water issues ( not sure if that is a concern where you are) lots of interior height to work with. Not saying it’s bad, but here in Canada, we need to be cautious of snow, melting to water and even with silicone , better to well above above grade.
      4 speakers in a cluster? Curious as to why? Possibly opt for 4 clusters of 2, spread out more? This will ultimately still be coming from two points, albeit “ big” sound....I was thinking from first video you would be spacing the 8 across the entire back side , rather than clustering....multiple tweeters like that? I’m sure it will rock( no pun intended). Cant wait for reveal of finished project. Love your channel as always!

    • @Youthman
      @Youthman  3 года назад

      We have lived here for 14 years and the ground has never held water, even during a hurricane.
      The reason for 4 speakers close together is due to phase issues when the tweeters are separated. This is why concerts use line arrays. Same principal.
