Cool. I need to buy 2 of these vehicles today, in case one of them has the ash trays full. And the financial monthly payments for 7 years would be what???????? Have to start playing PowerBall lottery!!!!! LOL!!!!!!!! Why is this vehicle so expensive???? It is a Cadillac, that's why. thanks for the video, take care.
I like the logic of Cadillac building an ultra-exclusive car to compete against the likes of Rolls Royce and Bentley... but I much prefer the design of the Escala concept. That thing was absolutely stunning. Wish Cadillac would've went with that design instead. This one is kind of love it or hate it. I personally don't like the hatchback. But EVERYBODY loved the Escala. It was one of the best-looking concepts ever created, in my opinion. Oh well... I can't afford one anyway... just would've been nice.
The Celestiq would’ve been much more successful if it had a V8, RWD and a true sedan body. Who would want to spend over $300,000 for an EV when they can buy a gas-powered car for less than that?
The Celistique is pretty awesome, for a large luxury car. GM needs to quickly ramp production of the Equinox EV and the redesigned Bolt, which will be their high-volume sellers.
It doesn’t look like a station wagon, it’s actually shaped like the SUX 6000 from the 1987 Robocop movie. They even got the I and L shaped brake lights in the back right! How much would you bet that this thing is a very clever troll of rich people by some GM designers? I’d buy that for a dollar!
I think you are missing the point of this vehicle. The people who are buying this aren’t looking for best stats. Just look at its competition the RR spectre doesn’t offer the same range or efficiency either. The people buying this want a showpiece car that will take them for reasonable distances in the most amount of luxury possible.
Talk about the WORST TIMING in automotive history!! Introduce a silly priced EV just as the whole market is collapsing. Porsche can’t give away Taycans Audi is giving $30,000 OFF Etrons BEFORE negotiating. What a stupid idea
My goodness, not to say that some arguments or concerns don't have some validity regarding affordability for a mass procuded low ,"affordable/acceptable" quality ev or any product, but it's always fascinating how people love to hate luxurious and ultra luxurious cars at its very mention. "If you curse the rich, you'll never be one of us."
With my preliminary understanding of marketing strategy, comparing this to competitors such as Rolls-Royce, I predict a horrible horrible outcome for this GM product.
Just get a Lucid which is better and cheaper. I like the sporty lines of the Celestiq just without the Celestiq itself. The rear 'tub' is interesting or at least it would be for people who want to bathe in their luxury car.
Hand built by well-paid, middle class workers. Well done Shawn Fain, you have helped make cars unaffordable for the average working guy - only car workers can afford this...
The Cadillac Escala looks 100x better and they decided not to build it but this Trash instead?! Fire Mary please because its obvious they have great designers but decided to use the trash designs from their worst design team!
GM may be following in Tesla's footsteps ! Tesla's Masterplan 1 was to build an Expensive Sports car first, then with that money build the S and X cars, then with that money build the Normal run of cars ! Worked for Tesla ! GM are just a bit LATE that's all ! Have GM ordered their GIGAPRESS yet ?
@@rozonoemi9374 I am also surprised at Ford Pulling back on its EV's, considering they were the first to take the NACS opportunity, They need a Giga-Press !
They are using this car to test ultra cruise like they did the ct6 with super cruise, I will say Tesla FSD and even basic auto pilot is better, minus the steering wheel nag.
SO,......the bolt is 250 mile range for about $31k.........this is 300 range for .$350k.................. its hand built, from some workers that are angry coming off a strike and they want you to buy this.........Gm make it make scenes ................lol.lol.lol.lol
If you were not trying to give backhanded compliments you would know the first year is already sold out. That's first. Second of all, the battery pack is ultimatium but it is structured different than other vehicles. The actual structure is also different. Not to mention it's customized with top grade materials. That does not make it exactly like the other vehicles. If you want to see that you would have to look for VW that then goes to Porsche that then goes to Lamborghini that then goes to Bentley. Why can't you all just report stories without trying to be nasty all the time. If you don't like American cars and you want to highlight European cars. Just say that and only report on those cars. So sick of trashy reviews
This is a fig leaf that covers GM's staggering failure in every other way around electric vehicle design, production and manufacturer. Why anybody would even consider spending this much money on a failing Legacy auto maker's product is beyond me.
GM Has completely lost their head. 🤦🏼 Inflation is through the roof, and the repossession of cars is at a thirty three year high ❕️ No clue what they are thinking. 🤷🏼♀️
True, but this car is not for the average Joe who gets a car on leasing. This is for the very well off customers, of which there are enough and aren't bothered significantly by inflation.
I agree with MotorScotti, Rolls-Royce had its best year to date. Somebody's earning more than enough to enjoy these vehicles, among other wonderful things, or else companies wouldn't build them. Supply and demand.
@@MotorScottiNothing about what they said was “true” it was bs. This is not *gm’s* answer to inflation and the average American needing a form of affordable & reliable transportation. That would be a Chevy Trax. General Motors is a global cooperation which means they’re large enough to multitask and tackle 2 completely separate tasks all at once. So the idea that *gm* has “lost their head” because they’ve decided to re-enter into a market they left years ago, would actually be *false.*
I remember the Cadillac 4-6-8 engine and how Cadillac screwed everybody with that bad engine. I’ll never trust them again. They stained the Cadillac name forever.
Yeah, guess this was to be expected. With the existence of unions, the USA can't build $25k EV's, so lets build $300.000 EV's. Whats next $1.000.000 EV's? EV industry in the US is doomed.
Jim says demand increased 100%. It went from one to two
Only the broke *gm* haters were triggered by this news. 😬
The same guy that designed the Pontiac Aztek designed this, job well done, good job Mary.
So the guy that designed Aztek is named Mary? Interesting

I think the escala influenced what the lyriq and celestiq are rn
@@portcybertryx222Correct. The Celestiq is the progression of the Escala from ICE to EV.

Your video actually RAISED this car's profile in my mind. Style is growing on me, looks better than Lucid.
Double the price of a Lucid Air!

I would buy for sure, beautiful and it's a Cadillac, standard of the world again. Interestingly Escalade IQ, DOES 450 MILES

Stupid is as stupid does… this will not save GM from imminent and inevitable bankruptcy
True
Handbuilt in Detroit is the best argument not to buy this car.
So how many cadiliacs u have ¿
Cars for the stupid rich.
An EV land yaught
If i won the lottery, i would just take a taci or rent a car.
If you put me on the spot, I'd probably buy a VW buzz, because it is cool.
$400,000 One question Why?
If I won the lottery I would buy a BMW i7 and keep the change.
So environmentally responsible.
I'll be the next Lucid.😅
