Hi! Gojira has a pretty unique sound, especially for when this album was released. They use a lot of sweeps and pinch harmonics mixed on to chuggy chuggy riffs. Some other bands you may be in to, try Slaughter to Prevail (chuggy chuggy, harmonics, ting ting hi hat and beastly vocals), songs like demolisher and viking. Try some very early death metal, try out 'Flesh and the power it holds' by Death. For more harmonics and sick riffs, try Lamb of God For more experimental heavy stuff, try the album Alien by Strapping young lad and give Meshuggah Obzen a listen, the opening track 'Combustion' is a beast. This is a great jumping off point for getting in to this mid 2000s era of metal (slaughter to Prevail is more modern) and from these bands you can go down rabbit holes and find what you are really in to
I always compare Gojira with Meshuggah when talking about sound similarities, especially since both are relevant and considered modern & in the same era
I love gojira but this doesn’t belong anywhere near -1. The music should be much darker for that movie and if any honors song should be in it, it should be the silver cord
