Found out the hard way that these tyres are no good for the wet conditions we're having near Newcastle on the dirt tracks, mud and clay. It's supposed to be summer and they've just been no good in the mud. I've been recommended the Anakee Wild front and a Motoz Adventure on the back. This is on the 2022 Africa Twin. Brett, did you try turning the back tyre around to the mostly off-road position? after all, I rode on camera through really crappy mud and didn't have a problem.. then dropped the bike on a small bit of tree, HAHAH
@@ADVBrett the front still won't change, but the rear will tractor through stuff and while you may not get 21,000 km out of the rear tyre, and slightly more noise when laying it hard over, it'll do better in mud.
@@GlobalWalkabout Tha ks fella, the plan is to put an Anakee Wild on the front but I'll certainly spin the rear around! The front tractionator isn't the best I've experienced
you try that Anakee wild front off road and like it ?? i didnt , THC80 was my fav front but now im liking the Motoz Dual Venture since the thc80's are no more
Thank you for the honest review. I just bought a set of these to put on my new GSA 1250 and look forward to the longer life and additional traction. The stock Bridgestone A41's are shot with 3400 miles on them. Too, at 700 miles, the front tire became extremely noisy. Thanks again.
I put 18,000ks on a set on my tiger 800 xcx with similar type of riding. I will be getting a more aggressive Motoz tyres fitted to my 900 Rally Pro just for a comparison. Motoz make great hard wearing tyres
Nice one mate. Looking at these for my Himalayan which I use for moto-camping on gravel roads. Think they’ll be perfect, maybe even with a motoz adventure on front. Haven’t fully decided. Also, have subbed as I used to live in Adelaide back in the 80’s-90’s so would love to see some old memories.
Excellent. Thanks for subbing. I would have gone more aggressive on the front but was worried about the road performance. Check out hard packed adventure for a review done in the last day or so on the adventures. PS. Love the Himalayan. Think it is one of the most adaptable bikes around.
Every time I replace tyres I reconsider my choice. Thinking next time I will go slightly more aggressive (motoz dual venture) to get the mud and sand riding easier. But I am reluctant to give up the road manners of these. I am at 16k now so will go through the whole process again soon.
Not for this set. Haven’t really noticed the need for more grip on the rear. Wanted the longevity. I have done on the next set. Just to see the difference in life.
@@berightbackmoto4737. It just would be interesting to know if there is an actual difference in traction. As they claim it’s more of a dirt tyre when put on the other way. It just made me think that all the reviews I’ve seen are the 50/50 direction. Which is fine obviously. After all u guys are the ones taking your time to post the reviews & buying the tyres or if you are sponsored. That’s even better for those whom do reviews. Anyhow. Cheers. Enjoy the holiday season.
One thing I've been curious about these tires and haven't seem to get a good answer. That is: how do these do on wet tarmac? Feels like I've heard some reviews they're a bit scary on wet paved roads...
I rode all throughout winter last year on these. I am mostly a dirt rider and have never found these to be an issue in the wet. That said, I am definitely not a fast road rider. Had a couple of emergency stops in the wet (dopey cars!) and the tyres never worried me.
Excellent review. All tyres are a compromise. So as you say, it’s about where you choose to ride that dictates the appropriate tyres.

I do similar riding in WA on a KTM 1190 Adventure.
I'll try there tyres next!

What orientation/direction did you have the rear tyre in? 50/50 or Mostly Off Road?
I went with 50/50. Never really had much issue with traction except for mud but I doubt the mostly off road would fix that.
