Great video! I am shopping for the Breville Barista Express! This was very helpful! Great tulip!
Hi Kat, love your vids!
I also have the bbe machine :)
In your setting do you use pressurize or non pressurize basket also do you manually stop the brew to achieve the 18g in 36g out?
Every time I saw one of your videos I get excited and I make a cup of coffee but always my latte art is disappointing I’ll keep practicing 👍🏼 thank you very much keep up the good work
awww just keep on practicing, really.
Woooow amazing!!!, ❤️❤️❤️ regards from MomMay & Matthia's Channel 😍😍😍
What grind size/grind amount do you have yours defaulted to? I don’t seem to get as much extraction from the pulls as I should and have tried troubleshooting to different settings but no luck.
just purchased the same machine for xmas and i'm struggling on the pouring of the steamed milk. I can get a good creamy texture of milk but how do I know how much of the milk is poured to mix until you start do make the first "heart/tulip" shape? Does it depend on the size of the cup being used or the amount of milk?
This was so relaxing to watch , love the art ..please share a video on how to do these arts for beginners. Thank you 🙏
You have become the espresso Master 👍🏻
Nice art ... I got mine 3 weeks back can i ask u what size of grinding you are doing??? I'm struggling with the milk frothing but i m using the sage pitcher which comes with the machine do u recommend to use or change it???
Hi, it actually depends what type of beans u are using. U have to dial it yourself. I’m currently at size 2, top burr at 6. Any pitcher as long as u get to know the correct technique on how to steam.
Thank you so much for the wonderful practical video
U are welcome. Glad u found it helpful. 😌
Hi Kat :) great videos! Do you have any experience using the other filter baskets for the porta filter? The other 2 look like they only have one tiny hole as opposed to lots of holes in the others.
The other filters with holes are to be used for pre-ground coffee.
Quick tip that nobody seems to have noticed... always steam milk before pulling shots. They expire after 10 seconds if not mixed with anything. Milk however, dosnt expire... love the video though!!
This is true! If you leave a shot sitting for too long, it'll be a bad shot
lol where did u get 10Seconds from?
hi, i actually tried steaming the milk first and then pull the shot but it just didn’t work for me. you will lose the texture of the milk if u keep it also on standby. it’s actually just up to you which one u can afford to compromise, as for me this one works and the taste is not bad at all. i guess the only solution for this is to get a dual boiler machine 😁 hopefully soon ✨
Coffee is so complicated 😅
Also I didn’t see sigar being used, well its 3in1 for me then lol
Thank you Kat for your amazing videos, has really helped me research into getting a manual barista machine too. I spend way too much buying takeaway coffee ughh. Loving your tulip art too, beautiful. Sending positivity and light your way from Opotiki NZ :)
hello, thanks for your time watching my videos, appreciate it so much. stay safe all the time 😌
What are the chances that 2 years later i too am in Opotiki and watching this video to learn how to use my coffee machine
Glad I found your video. I’ve been thinking of purchasing one of these myself. Is the machine not capable of frothing and pulling shots at the same time with the single boiler?
Nope. That’s only for the dual boiler. This one is single.
What number on grinder did you set to?
Nice and relaxing to watch and listen to. All that’s missing is smell-o-vision :)
you all prolly dont care at all but does someone know of a tool to log back into an instagram account??
I was stupid lost my login password. I appreciate any assistance you can offer me.
@Evan Stephen instablaster ;)
I'm your new subscriber! Love your coffee videos, its so addicting to watch
😋
Hi Kat, just wanna ask how you adjusted your distribution tool? did you set it according to the razor tool?
Yes :)
As a barista I just want to let people know to steam your milk first or add your milk to your iced coffee first. When you let your shots sit like this they are actually burning and turning bitter! Much better flavor If your able to make them and dump them right in!
That is what I wanted to say. I am a barista as well.
No problem my shots are already bitter.
WOw 🤩
Nice latte art. Your further ahead than me. Keep practicing!
Wow that was so beautiful and peacefully 😍
I like how the espressor is always clean
Rather good I go for similar dosage and extraction, try to tamp on the edge of of a surface though as the way you do it could damage the bottom of the PF
What beans would you suggest? I purchased my Breville espresso machine a few days ago 😀
great stuff! I usually steam my milk before the shot, because I find that my shots get colder much faster sitting outside while waiting for the milk.
I tried that one, too. But i feel like if i will also let the milk sit for too long, the texture will change. So 🤷🏼♀️
@@KatEsclamado hahah fair.
The answer is to get a dual boiler 😂😂
Amazing 😍
this is so lit! thank you for sharing
I am currently using a medium roast coffee that was packaged in April (🙄) and my shots always start pulling while in pre-infusion and then after a second it goes into the espresso range. Does this mean I need to adjust the grind to be finer or coarser?
Hi, hmmm 🤔 first, i think it’s important to always use freshly roasted beans. Regardless if it’s medium or dark roast. It really makes a difference in pulling a shot. For me to make my dialing in easier, i always make sure:
1. Fresh beans
2. Fix my dose in ( now im always at 18g)
3. Always use weighing scale and timer
4. Decide what’s ur prefer ratio
5. Then if it’s my first time to dial in, i always start at 5.
Thanks for sharing! Wondering what is your grinder setting for the grain size?
currently at 3
What a lot of fuss! Btw, always, always steam milk before pulling shots! those shots are good for 10 seconds and start to sour while you steam.
thank you for the lovely video. may i ask what camera you used for this and lense?
Loving your vids! I also have the same coffee machine but I can’t get consistent shots. 🥺 I’m considering buying a coffee distributor/tamper like what you’re using.
Also if you don’t mind me asking, where did you get your scale from?
Hi, bought this from a roastery next to my house. The brand is Brewista. :)
X2
The black thing in the corner will also press your coffee grounds making it even.
Hi Kat, love your video! 😊 which coffee machine will you suggest for a beginner like me? Its so confusing with lots of brands in the market. Lol
Nice job. That was awesome
=) Kat! ganda and ang galing =)
Hi! Thanks for this video. Question: is it okay to let your shots sit for so long?
That machine takes a long time ! But coffee looks amazing
Where is your thermometer for your steamer?
Great video thanks for making it for us.
U r welcome and thank u for appreciating. 🥰
Love your periwinkle pitcher 😍
thank u! Me too! 🥰
@@KatEsclamado where did u get it I want one😍
Great. Videos! Question: do you weigh/measure the milk you will use/save your extra steamed milk?
Not really. But i do save all the extra milk
Do you start timing the moment you press the button? Or when the first drop comes out?
As soon as i press the button
@@KatEsclamado thanks!
Hi, what size is the tamper size?
Do you like the Brewista scale? It seems to fit well. Does it stay balanced and accurate while on the drip tray? Thanks.
yes, it is perfect for the drip tray but small for the portafilter and for 2 cups if you wanna split your shot. i suggest the brand called felicita, they have the curved one which i think is perfect for its size and shape. this is the link www.espressogear.com/products/felicita-arc-scale
@@KatEsclamado Thank you. I heard about the Felicita one, I may get that one instead. Thanks very much for your reply, your videos are very helpful.
Hi! Just wanted to ask, whenever i pull an espresso there’s smoke coming out before the shot flows. Can u help 🥲
I really like you latte cup, can you share where you get it from 😁
this is from loveramics. made an unboxing video for this ruclips.net/video/ub8hkuBnIFM/видео.html
Been watching you for a while now and I’m proud of your latte art skills now! Hope to be as good as you soon! Would you say that pitcher is better than the one that comes with the breville?
Hi zahid, thank u so much. Appreciate that. ☺️ pitcher wise, i think it really makes a difference. I like what im using right now for pouring, but i still use my breville pitcher for steaming milk
Same here, Kat’s latte art skill improved fast!
Li He ☺️ thank u
What's your inner burr and outer grinder setting? Thank you!
Amazing!
which basket did you use ? the dual wall one?
Hi single wall non pressurized basket
hi! Is your espresso machine has single hole frothing wand?
Yup
I really liked your videos .Can you please tell about the grind size for coffee extraction and which coffee you usually us?😀
Hi! Great video. Where do you get the %Arabica beans? Are you only able to get them in Japan or can you order online? Thank you!
Hi, i am based in UAE and lucky that there’s arabica% here in abu dhabi and even in dubai. 🤗
what is your grinder setting set to?
Hi, it’s at 3 :)
Can you share your other accessories(scale and mat)? My new machine arrives tomorrow , I’m so excited!!! Really enjoyed your video!!
sure, will make a whole video about it. :) enjoy ur new machine 🤗
Kat Esclamado YAY!! Looking forward to it!!
Hi, what grind settings are you at? What was the rest level of the beans? Thank you!
Grind setting always depends on what beans you’re using and had to be changed as the beans age as well so that information really depends on the beans you have
Wow! 03:37 you got your meter almost all the way up, mine currently struggling to even go halfway
Thanks for the great video! Where is the nice knockbox that throws away the espresso dregs? From Japan😄
Where do you bought the clear coffee cup?
This one i got from muji :)
AMAZING!!!!! i need more practice
Hi, I have the same machine but unable to do the foam no matter what trick it tips I do.
Hi, i made a video for steaming milk. Might help you 👉🏻 ruclips.net/video/qgEPeSq-aGM/видео.html
Hi Kat, I really enjoy both your process and the music and production values of your videos.
I’m using an Aram Espresso hand machine today, but have been considering a semi automatic machine like yours. Are you happy with he grinder, I’ve heard mixed reviews of machines with built in grinders
Hi, glad u like my videos. It really makes me happy when people appreciate my work esp when it comes to production, aesthetic, music, and the whole feel of the video. ☺️
When it comes to the machine’s grinder, i really can’t find any reason to complain about it, bec number 1 - never was i able to try any other grinder to compare it with, number 2 - it does the job for my coffee. The only thing where i felt like upgrading to niche zero was when i adjusted my top burr to a finer size, and then all the ground beans started to be clumpy. But good that i was able to figure it out right away and adjusted it back to its default setting.
Hi, may I check something on this Breville? I just bought one. When I turn on the machine, why it makes a very loud vibration sound for few seconds? Is it normal?
I think it is normal.
yes it is normal
turn it on it and it makes a sound for few seconds
id recommend start making coffee 15 mins after u switch the machine on
Hello 👋 I really like your video. what do you put to sweeten it?
i just did a marathon of ur vids making coffee 😭 im inluv huhu can u make diff espresso drinks as well?
Thank you. 🥰 I’ll definitely make more videos as soon as my machine arrives here in NZ. 😊
Where is your tamper from?
How does your steam wand stay clean after using it ? I wipe mine down as soon as I'm done and it tends to get stuck with milk
Make sure your towel is wet when you wipe, it'll help wipe the wand clean much more easily!
Yup she’s right! Use a wet towel :)
I wish I would practice too and I need to learn more coffee espresso
Good video. Some tips: you may want a naked pf before pf funnel to check channeling: in your video the espresso didn’t come out at same time so that suggests some channel . Also the pressure seems too high yet flow still too fast, you want mouse tail (Breville is set pressure too high, 1-2 o’clock is 14bar). 9bar is at about 10-11 o’clock. And you need to clean the machine (clean light is on)
I heard it breaks after 1 year. No tamping? You use the distributor then don't tamp it.
I used to have this one and then I got the smeg expresso I find it so much better
But that smeg has no pressure gauge, no temp control and a 51 or 53 portafilter. I personally think breville sucks ans so smeg. I'm going for lelit!
@@jm7720 yes guess you need to go with wat you prefer ,the smeg doesn’t have temp gauge but you can adjust the temp with the buttons ...for me I love it and it’s the best coffee I’ve ever had ...thou the machine outer shell is very plastic
@@VeganDuchess true. Smeg is expensive in canada. What drew you to that one?
@@jm7720 lol it was pink 😂then when it arrived I was like omg it’s plastic like my sewing machine but when I made a coffee I was really impressed
@@VeganDuchess lol
Nicely edited with music... your tulip is pretty good too. I noted % Arabica beans, any other options for fresh beans locally?
hi, thanks for appreciating. may i know where are you currently based? Coz im from Abu Dhabi and we have Arabica Shop here :)
Kat Esclamado - Same here!
Oh okay. I mainly buy my beans either ARABICA or Cartel Coffee :)
Nice video! What’s the grind settings you used on your % Arabica beans? :)
Now still using the same beans, im at 4 for the burr inside and 2 for the grind setting
Hi Kat! I’ve been using my breville for a bit over a year and I’m still having a hard time getting into that 30 second range. Even with 20g of coffee, at first I thought it was my grind but the grinder is already set to the finest setting I even adjusted inside the hopper. Any advice on getting a better pull? I saw you used 18 grams and It’s just amazing!
Hi, i can feel you. Maybe the beans you’re using?
@@KatEsclamado I use a blend my my local roaster. Usually it’s not more than a week old. I’d love any help
Hi Aaron, try to wait until it’s around 10-14 days after roasting date.:) might help
Aaron! It might be too late but I was having the same issue. You can actually change the Burr setting as shown here ruclips.net/video/ifI4AajrDOQ/видео.html
How do you not get defeated when the learning curve is so long? I’m just scratching my head and nervous avoid taking the plunge and buying a barista pro bc I’m new.
Hi Kat
What coffee do you like for your Breville?
Question, my shots are coming out extremely frothy. I have fresh beans, 18g of coffee, 25 seconds for the extraction. Any ideas what happened?
I think frothy means crema? How did it taste?
It tasted good, but I actually found out it was frothy because I was using the pressurized filter so it was a faux crema. Then when I switched to the single walled double shot I kept getting really sour under extracted coffee. After 3 hours of research I finally found a suggestion to turn the inside burr grinder to 3 and the outside dial size to 4 and that fixed the issue. So now I have great tasting espresso with a nice micro foam crema!
Good job! 😁
20-25 seconds pull is ideal. You don’t want longer
Why did you make the shot first, and let it get cold while doing the milk? I always do the milk first, heat it up a little bit more than i need, then i do the shot while its cooling off a bit. A cold shot becomes sour. Or am I making it complicated? :D
Agreed! You’re basically describing a “dead” shot ..which is gross!
Hi! Your knock box is really cute and looks like a custom one! I've been looking for that type of wooden knock box. Where'd you get it?
Hi, i got it from ikea ☺️🤗
are you using tap water or distilled?
You shouldnt use either. I recommend just cold filtered water
Hey Kat. I was watching your video. I have a new machine since a week ago. I still can't get my extraction to 12 o'clock or o'clock, for rhat sweet spot. What setting do you have your burr grinder inside and outside please?
Is that tamp and leveler a 53mm? I cannot seem to find a 54mm one
For which machine? Crema makes 53.3 perfect for bbe’s portafilter :) u may wanna check them here
cremacoffeeproducts.com/katherine-esclamado
@@KatEsclamado breville barista espress
@@timothyberlinski2299 then u can have the crema one. :) that would fit!
How do you get the machine to heat up
Really like this video and your mug. Where did you get the mug from?
What scales do you use?
Currently using one from brewista
How much of this price?
what is your grind size level?
I love %'s coffee, are your beans in medium or dark roast? And what's your inner & outer burr settings with this beans? 🙂
Hi in this video im using dark roast. But currently im using medium still from arabica. :) inner is at 6, outer is around 3-2 depends
Kat Esclamado Do you find it harder getting a good extraction with medium roasts? I have medium roast beans but still fast extraction with inner burr at 3 and outer at 1 😩
Hmm not really, actually only recently i got to try dark roast. Before i always use medium roast and i always able to get the right grind size to a good extraction. Just keep on dialing, i guess. And dont be too crazy on your tamping, fix your dose so u will only adjust on the grind size. Like for me, im always dosing in 18g. If i have a new bag of beans, i always start dialing in at size 5, then adjust from there. But always 18g. :)
Kat Esclamado thanks for the advice! :) May I know what's the finest setting you've gone with you breville grinder?
Hmm 2? That’s my setting now. Hehe both for medium and dark (%). But also rmmber the older the beans the more you grind it finer (that’s just for my own opinion) like the beans im using now, when i bought it, it was at 3, then now a week later i set it at 2.
Thanks for the vid! This is very helpful
Glad you liked it 😊
Hey Kat, great video! Quick question, what size distributor are you using, 58mm or 58.5? Also, when did you get the 2-1 distributer/tamper from? Thanks
Hi, its 54mm for this particular machine they have 54mm portaflilter. Check out crema coffee products they make amazing ones! 😊
@@KatEsclamado thanks so much :)
I love this video! Where did you get the carafe to steam the milk? Its so cute!
Hi, glad u liked the video. The pitcher is from slowpoursupply 😊
@@KatEsclamado Thank you!
What is the name of the knock box from IKEA please? :)
Its called TAVELÅN
What grind setting are you using??
Hi, I guess from a previous reply that the grinder is set to 3
4:40 is that pounding sound coming from the machine ?
yes, that's every time you turn on the steaming wand
Kat Esclamado oh okay thanks for the info!
Is that beeping and knocking part of the experience?
Hello! What bean ratio do you use?
Hi, 1:2 or sometimes 1:1.5
Kat Esclamado do you mind explaining what the brew ratios mean! I’m a newbie and I have been watching all your videos to learn but I can’t figure out all the dose and brew ratios!
Seth Teitelbaum 1:2 would mean you get double the weight out of the portafilter of the weight you put in. So if Kat is dialing in 18gms of coffee then you’d want to pull about 36gms of coffee out over about 25-32 seconds. At least that’s how I make espresso for my flat whites.
Hi po ask ko lang hows ur experiens sa machine?im planing also to buy this brand.nag iisip ako kung sage or this breville. Same size lang po ba ung lagyan kape sa mga coffee shop.
Help. My sweet hubby buys me a Cadillac when I can’t drive … he bought me a very expensive top of the line serger (a type of sewing machine which does very specific things) and I had no idea how to use it. Years later I still haven’t mastered it because it intimidates me. I am 51! Come on… anyway, we want to upgrade from keurig and I thought I wanted a nespresso original machine bc he loves coffee with crema. He also likes a big cup (12 oz) and I like variety and flavors. However I have no experience with espresso whatsoever, but I’m interested. He’s up for getting me the barista pro and I’m excited on one hand but nervous on the other - again, a Cadillac before I can drive. (And I know it’s not a Cadillac to some people,
but to me it’s quite an investment.)
Hi may i know the brand of your scale? Thank you
how is the creama?
