    Per the Beachbum, Navy Grogs are shaken with ice cubes, then strained into the glass with the ice cone.
    That's why your drink wasn't as cold as you'd like, not to mention the dilution was off (maybe why the honey syrup was too much). Plus, it'll make your ice cone last longer.

      You are correct. The original recipe does call for shaking with ice. I tried that and found, combined with the club soda, it diluted the drink too much. This time I wanted to try without.

      idealy use a conde shaped glass and press grushed ice into it

      Thanks, working on it. Try to mix it up and get different angles from time to time.
