Thanks so much! Def a nice crisp cocktail with just enough spice.

This is a perfect example of where the SC rum system can be misleading. The writeup in the book infers that the rums are no different from the DTB version, which means that you should be using "Light rum", a Dark Jamaican, and a Demerara rum. Smith & Cross and Bacardi 8 are good options for this cocktail.

Exactly! The rums spec’d for Vic’s in SC are definitely different than what’s spec’d for Don’s in Total Tiki.
I’m SC Cate makes a note about simply switching the Demerara/allspice for honey/soda water to accomplish Don’s version, but realistically the rums were different as well.

Jow Andi, it seems like your camera is focusing on the bottles on the shelve and not on you. Just a little thing to maybe have an eye on, it is not like completely destroying the video, just a little thing. Cheers mate! Thank you for all your feedback

Great video Andy! (As usual.) I jumped fully into Tiki at the beginning of summer and I bet the Navy Grog was the 2nd or 3rd drink on my 'must' list but I didn't get to it until tonight. I can report that you technically don't have to do a Don vs. Vic taste-off because I just did... Strange, I feel really good right now!! Anyways, I copied (sipping now) your Vic's recipe exactly as you built it here with the only change being Ango 7 instead of the Ocho. This is also a great drink but having had Don's first - REALLY liked it - and now drinking Vic's it's amazing how different they are to me. And expectedly or perhaps not, it's the honey of Don's and the Allspice Dram of Vic's that differentiates them (for me at least). I guess I'll just have to plan on Frank Sinatra's birthday to have one of Don's and on President Nixon's birthday to have one of Vic's! Thanks again!!

Yea it’s def the honey vs allspice that really differentiates them.
