What do you think of Magnus Carlsen's new opening from this game? Do you like the name I gave it? And who are you rooting for in Game 14 of the World Chess Championship Match tomorrow?
I love how he gives these young players a chance to beat him with unorthodox openings...it makes the game much more interesting and explores new lines at the same time
Excellent naming of this brand new chess opening, the Norwegian squid! Marching down with that Alpha Zero H-pawn was actually quite reasonable as a response to that hilarious Nh3 starting move, although later trading pawns on g3 was probably not the best since it opened the H-file for white’s rook. The Chigorin style Nc6 was also obviously weaker than simply playing c6 in the spirit of the Slav defense.

After c4 I would call it the Norwegian Catalyn gambit.

I was thinking Rook B5 but I'm still learning :)
