NF7 prevents block to put RH8 as QH7 is there, so Magnus wants to stay his queen in 7th rank also NF7 supports whites F5 pawn which allows NF3 gets into new activities
8:17 My guess: I suspect the Knight to F7 partially pins down the queen (blocking Qn to D8) but is actually enroute to H6 to rely of queenly backup to threaten the rook with impunity, and possibly gaining 2 points if it forces an exchange to simplify. Black's left flank (our right) would be gutted, allowing even more pressure to be put on the black royals in the center.
Ok, it is expected that you’ll have an anxiety attack when you see Magnus completely going off script but even then that E5 move made absolutely no sense. Game was over right there … if Magnus didn’t make blunders due to time pressure.
Why is it a draw? It's Magnus Carlsen's turn ... so he has to move ... and the he loses. Is there a rule, that one player doesn't need to move into a check (mate) situation? (I am no chess player.) If so, this sounds weird. If he came into a situation, where he cannot move anywhere, only into a check(mate) situation, then it's his fault and he should lose.
How can you mention the "Bong-cloud" opening without mentioning Bobby Fischer (?) who invented it for online blitz games to take his opponents out of their books or computers..? Oh well, tempus fugits...
1:43 "hence the bongcloud gambit" How does that name follow at all?? Was it just a stupid name for a stupid gambit thing? Are you saying Carlsen is high for doing it?
I tried that and I lose everytime. I still find the game quite delicious as I might pressure you all while wondering if you are going to call my bluff! A victory is then quite sweet when I get one!
I think you chess players you like Drama! What is the point of all these names openings and strategies when for example in this game both players end up with the king and 1-2 pawns. And actually all these about Magnus opening while he lost the game. And why was a draw ? Magnus has to move and he loses.
I've played this opening for years... It open up the board to build some strong positions...This is a variation in the 4 move checkmate...
Thanks!

How does this openning work against Stockfish?

This game with the Bongcloud gambit and Chigaevs countergambit can’t be taken seriously.
1:27 I have played that move hundreds of times, but then again, as a seven year old, I hardly knew what I was doing.
yeah me too in the 70ies when i played a lot with my friend

8:17 knight to F7, isn't this to prevent rook to h8
Yes
This was for fun, but not serious Chess. Carlsen defaulted to beginners mode.
So, the Bongcloud Gambit hashed out to a draw.

Thanks for sharing ❤❤❤
How is that a stalemate? He lost if he has to move next ?

8:15 he just dont wants Knight e7 to move😅
Fun video. Thnx
Yes, it’s a gambit, but more like a counter gambit.

A joke opening which will never be played as anything serious for actual good opening theory .
in blitz you can get away with this due to surprise value and....er well blitz lack of time to come up with the best refutation.
Interesting.....But lucky to get a draw?
This guy is a horror player.
bongcloud?you saying magnus is a dope smoker?
