    Watched this video 2 months ago. After that ordered my own grow kit. It went great, first it was a bit slow but then I put it nearer to a lamp. harvested about 500 grams first flush and about 1kg second flush. Love the chewiness of Mushroom, it s much like squid.

    • @TripleDDDD
      @TripleDDDD 5 лет назад +3

      voltaire balagtas no. It consumed a lot of the nutritious mix and I wanted to do the next step, clone the spores and create my own grow bags. But I got a bad stomach disease (unrelated to mushrooms) and could not care for the mushrooms, they dried out. Dumped the whole thing (without the plastic) in a nearby forest, maybe it will grow there.
      And I will re-start from scratch. Still looking for a better place to grow as well, since I did it in my tiny single room city apartment and read some stories that spores can be very unhealthy on the lungs.

    we got one of those last Spring. Got 2 flushes out of it.
    We used a little laundry basket to give form to the plastic tent. Worked well for keeping the plastic bag from touching the mushrooms.
    Have since bought wood chips, bags and spawn to make our own. I have a 41 Qt All American Canner to sterilize the wood chips.

      You can take the bag after the first three or so flushes of mushrooms then move them to something like a monotub with more substrate, wait a little while to colonize then they will grow new mushrooms. Some mushrooms are many thousands of years old spaning many acres if you give them food and the right environment they will flourish

    Thanks for spreading the news about mushroom cultivation. Especially the nod to Fungi Perfecti. Paul Stamets is/has done amazing work concerning saving ecosystems and ourselves w/fungi. I just began cultivating fungi this last summer and have a lion's mane 'block' almost ready to fruit now. I would encourage all viewers interested to look into the amazing benefits of mushrooms, for health, the ecosystem, food and fun! Also- I believe it's better NOT to 'stab' the mycelial mass when cutting holes for fruiting. Cheers to being beshroomed!

      The mushroom substrate a.k.a the food is sterilized and is a blank slate for any fungus to get in… So at that stage, the lions mane is the primary fungus who has taken most all of the food, and therefore controls that general area… But it’s not impossible for a foreign spawn to make its way in an infiltrate if you are careful

    To remove Chorine from city water, simply let sit exposed to air overnight. Pour water into a bowl and leave it on the counter for 12 or more hours. Chorine naturally evaporates away.
    Also, there is a small error in temperature to dry out mushrooms. Turn pan on lowest heat setting. Alternatively, you can slice as recommended and place it in an oven at its lowest setting.
    Great job on describing taste and texture and showing the value of drying out before cooking.

    I'd like to know more about inoculating the wood in my yard with the mycelium that is still viable after I have harvested my block three times. Fungi Perfecti no longer offers the kits (2020), but has links to other companies that are doing that. Is there something I need to do to prepare my branch? I have access to maple or oak for free, do either of those work for Lion's Mane?

      I have grown this and use a $20 tabletop IKEA greenhouse, along with a glass of water inside, to keep the humidity high. I double process (look up the research to see that neurogenesis is from aqua-extract) with water, then alcohol. I use 80 proof, then mix it 1-1 with water for 40 proof. It has been shelf stable for me. A $30 grow kit and $20 in Vodka yielded me about 50 ounces of extract...if you buy Lion's Mane extract retail it is $20/ounce. This is one of those items you should definitely try yourself. You will think sharper, colors are more vivid and your thought process more fluid. Good luck!

      They're a family of mushroom called puffball, they usually grow on ground level in meadows, you can grow giant puffballs that can grow to the size of a beach ball.
      They're also edible if you harvest them before they start going brown inside where they start producing spores.

    • @gotskinn
      @gotskinn 6 лет назад

      Svealand Vanberg ahh...I LOVE puffballs. Let them dry up where they are at..then collect those dirt dry spores..you can spread them in your backyard and where you hike..if conditions are right, they will grow and be no work on your part. I have never tried to grow them indoors. Outdoors is so easy.
      Puffballs like to grow where there is "disruption" like ppl walking or driving. You will often find them at the edge mountain bike & hiking trails.
      But ONLY eat puffballs w WHITE center. The others are poisonous.
