In this video I am watching the movie "Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen (2009)". Two years after he and his Autobot friends saved the Earth from the Decepticons, Sam Witwicky (Shia LaBeouf) faces a new battle: college. Meanwhile, Optimus Prime and the Autobots are working with a secret military organization and trying to make a home for themselves on Earth. When an ancient Decepticon known as The Fallen rises up to wreak vengeance, Sam and his girlfriend, Mikaela, must figure out the history of the Transformers on Earth and find a way to defeat The Fallen once and for all.

I love how someone finally loved Jetfire as much as me. He was GOATED. Those Jetfire upgrades are NO JOKE.

Hell yes. It seems nobody recognizes how powerful Optimus was after that. I mean think about it. Optimus literally just came back from the dead, but was still absolutely gutted and wrecked, but Jetfire's parts patched him up and allowed him to fly. Plus suddenly The Fallen was a simple fight after that. Not to mention the comedy was great as well.
Something people note about Optimus is that he becomes *alot* less gentle after his death and reanimation. It's like "Alright, being the nice, gentle one didn't work. Violence it is then". Although to be fair, dying and coming back has gone to mess with your head a bit.
Fun fact: the voice for the little robot and one of the twin autobots is voiced by SpongeBobs voice actor

He also voiced several characters in Transformers Animated. And the Prime who talks to Sam was voiced by Kevin Michael Richardson, who (among many other things) voiced Bulkhead in Transformers Prime.
Fun Fact: Optimus Prime has died in almost every major Transformers continuity

My favorite takes on that concept were Animated (which had Optimus die and almost immediately come back in _part 3 of its premiere)_ and Prime (which had him sacrifice his memory to defeat Unicron, rather than his life).
@@Graboid104 Cliffjumper probably has that reputation because of Transformers Prime (where he dies at the beginning of the first episode). People forget that he was one of the few OG Autobots who survived the 1986 movie! (Admittedly, we never saw him again because his voice actor quit, but nevertheless, that's an accomplishment.)

I remember going to the theater to see this in 2009. I was so devastated when Optimus Prime was killed by Megatron in this. But I love the revenge shot in the scene where Optimus goes two-on-one against Megatron and The Fallen. For me, nothing was more karmic than seeing Optimus make Megatron shoot himself in the face with his own cannon.
That is arcee. In a prequel comic she was experimented on by a decepticon and her spark was split in to 3 parts and put into 3 bodies. She was originally going to be a combiner but the idea was scraped in the final version of the film. Devastator the giant combining robot took 15 hi powered computers to animate.
Just to let you know:
Megan Fox was fired from the franchise by Producer Steven Spielberg after she made comments on how working with Michael Bay was like working with Adolf Hitler.

If you want to see more of ArCee she’s actually amazing & a main character in Transformers Prime show, it’s fairly short 3 seasons & ends with a movie that’s just an hour you’d love it . Only 4 human characters max & they all have a friendship with one of the Autobots.
5 humans. 3 kids, agent and mom if we're not including any Mech villains.
I will say tho that you really need to give Prime a solid chance, it's a slow start but really picks up mid 1st season onwards imo.

There are 3 Arcee Sisters in the Movie. The Pink One is Arcee, The Blue One is Chromia, and The Purple One is Elita One.
The name “Prime”is a title that can now be earned but the original primes were created by primus the god of the transformer race and his spark is the core of cybertron and he is also the twin brother of Unicron

14:14 - Transformers who can disguise themselves as humans (or organic humanoid aliens) are called Pretenders.
20:10 - Jetfire wasn't exactly "stuck", he just turned himself off because he was in hiding. (Incidentally, he appeared in the eighties TV show. His name was changed to Skyfire due to unspecified legal issues, but his backstory was essentially the same as in this movie.)
23:32 - His name is Wheelie. He's named after a character from the 1986 movie, but apart from being small Autobots, they have little in common.
24:55 - That's right. The combined form of the Constructicons is called Devastator.
29:07 - I wouldn't say "redeem". As I noted in a comment on your reaction to the 1986 movie, it wasn't long before Optimus returned in the TV show. If anything, I think this movie was paying tribute to that.
31:22 - His name is Agent Seymour Simmons and yeah, he's a fun character.
33:09 - The idea that Optimus is the latest in a long line of Primes is from the TV show. Some of the Transformers comic books would later add to this lore, giving those characters names (one of them is Sentinel Prime, who will become more important in the third movie) and introducing the Fallen. One detail the movie _doesn't_ mention is that the Fallen's real name was Megatronus (Megatron named himself in his honor).

33:50 - If you ever get around to watching Transformers: Rise of the Beasts (which is essentially a reboot of the movie series), Arcee has a somewhat more prominent role. (My personal favorite version of the character is from the TV show Transformers Prime).

He died in 2005, not 86. The 1st 2 seasons of show take place in the 80s. The movie is set in 2005, the teenager from the show is Daniel's dad in the 86 movie. Season 3 and on, is after the movie. I'm about to turn 40, By the time I saw Optimus died, I had already seen him back on show. But since it was before the Internet, a lot of the older kids who stopped watching the show, because they killed Optimus in the movie, didn't know he had came back. This is what cancelled their beloved show lol.

Sooo here comes a little bit of lore.
In Cybertron, everyone came from Primus, the primordial leader/god of the Cybertronians. Primus chose his descendants (the primes) as leaders of their world, the original 7 Primes, one of the primes rebels against his brothers, and his names was Megatronus, AKA The Fallen, AKA the First Decepticon after been coerced by Primus nemesis, Unicron, the devouring planet. The story repeats itself, as if Every Prime, must always face every Decepticon.
When this movie was played on the IMAX in Sydney the screen was so big that it had Optimus in 1:1 scale when he was standing on the aircraft carrier at the end. Plus when the Constructicons formed into Devastator, the computers that rendered the graphics to do it smoked from how much computer power it took to do it.
Dark of the Moon is my favorite in the series. It's absolutely epic.
25:29 the thing is is that this movie didn’t really have a script because it was being made during a writers strike I believe. As a result people weren’t allowed to write down scripts for their movies. So that’s why some things might seem a little OFF.

The guy who voiced Jetfire also voiced BumbleBee at the end of the first movie... he was very involved in the behind the scenes of the films.
Fun note shaia hand is “burned” in the movie because he actually hurt it during filming so they wrote that into the story that he “burnt” his hand in the teleportation
There were graphic novels inbetween the movies, which the movies tend to not even take note of 😄
In one four issue series which is set between the first two movies, Arcee was a single autobot, who got captured and experimented on by a Decepticon scientist. Her spark and conscience were broken into three parts, creating the three separate entities featured in the movie. I think they were Arcee, Elita-1 and Chromia, if I'm not mistaken. They are separate personalities but share sort of like a psychic link.
The reason they don't is usually because they originally DID, and the comic is just a direct adaptation of the script, but the comic comes out earlier and spoils everything before the movie even comes out. Michael Bay was rightfully pissed off about that imo.

This one was largely shot during the writers strike and boy does it show. They even filmed without a completed script. This is also where Bay unfortunately put in a ton of juvenile humor and allowed the Twins, who were rooted in racist stereotypes.
On the bright side, the effects remain good, the fights are good. The Forest fight is the best Transformers movie fight scene. Lots of unique robot designs. It very much colored audience perception on what to expect from a Transformers movie for… well, mostly for worse. 😅
This was the first major hype movie event of my life, though, and I’ll never not cherish it. Being there for the midnight premiere was everything.

So when this movie was released on DVD, Walmart, straight up bought millions of copies of it, each store have hundreds of copies that wouldn't sell, and they wouldn't allow a price drop until around 2018, I ran an electronics department, and we had 210 copies of the special edition of this movie for $25 dollars for almost 10 years after this movie came out

Its nice to see the development Ironhide goes through. Its not really in the spotlight, and its blink and you miss it, but it IS there.
In the first movie: "Why are we fighting to save the humans? They're a primitive, and violent race."
Responding to Ratchet saying they should abandon Earth in the second movie: "That's not what Optimus would want."
Just neat.
Oh, and theres a clear reason why Arcee barely appeared, was totally wasted, and died without any fanfare: Michael Bay really, really HATED her for no real reason. So he planned from the beginning to have her killed off almost immediately in the most unceremonious way possible.
Can’t wait for the next one.

The only continuity where Optimus Prime didn't die was the 2001 series Car Robots/Robots in Disguise. Every single other one has him die at least once.
Definitely gotta watch "Dark of the Moon" it's the best in the Bayformers.
You can thank Michael Bay for the unwanted and forced chemistry, it's in a lot of his movies.
I highly recommend Batman: Mask of the Phantasm and Superman vs. the Elite. They are the definitive Batman and Superman movies.
I think you should check out Transformers: Prime. It’s a great series and Arcee is one of the main characters! I think you’re gonna love it.
I know you don't want to watch the animation, but the first three episodes of the animated TV show would give you a solid foundation for what Transformers WAS. The "BAYVERSE "takes a lot of liberties with the material. Everyone I know who watched transformers as a kid hates these movies. They become like the fast and furious franchise. You just watch them to see what happens, not because you care about plot or characters. Pretenders were a toy line that looked like humans ( and monsters) but had a robot transformer inside ( was a plastic shell like a babushka). The girl said PRETEND and I took that to be a clue.

Have you seen Lethal Weapon. "I'm getting to old for this ****", is a line from that movie.
Reviving Optimus in this movie was not done to redeem his death in 1986, that was always the plan, the original G1 cartoon did that as well. Shortly after the 86 movie was released, Hasbro was hit with a torrent of letters of angry parents of/and sad kids addressed to Sir Optimus Prime (those letters sadly never reached his voice actor, Peter Cullen), who desperately wished for their friend back. Because Hasbro only saw the character as a way to make money, they had no idea about the influence that the fatherly Optimus had to children watching the first two seasons of the original cartoon.
Optimus briefly returned in an episode of Season 3 in a zombified state, only to snap out of it and sacrifice himself all over again, which kids were very angry about, seeing it as salt on the wound. So Hasbro, realizing the error of their ways (and seeing a way to make more money), the quickly commissioned the Season 3 finale of the cartoon to be the two-parter episode "The Return Of Optimus Prime", in which Optimus was properly revived to save the universe from a plague that made everyone kill each other, after which he became Autobot leader again, with Rodimus Prime stepping down and giving him the Matrix back, becoming Hot Rod again.
Also, just for your information, a Prime isn't something genetic or something one inherits, Prime is the highest rank in the Autobot army. Whoever holds the rank of Prime is the leader, with them carrying the Matrix of Leadership. But it also has more mythical origins: all Primes/ Matrix wielders as the first 13 Transformers who came to life were all Primes, and each had unique abilities that were passed down to decendands who make up the rest of the Cybertronian race. As this movie was made before the lore around the 13 Primes was finalized, there were only seven original Primes in it. And as part of Megatron's backstory, The Fallen's original name was "Megatronus Prime", with Megatron, who was a slave miner before becoming a gladiator turned revolutionary, taking his name, becoming "Megatronus" before shortening it to simply "Megatron".
I'm pretty sure Prime is more inline with a higher state of being attained since there's multiple Primes both in different and simultaneous times and it's before factions. Calling it highest rank in autobot army is kinda misleading and wrong on several levels.

Bumblebee is not after DOTM, Bumblebee is either a prequel or Reboot so its best viewed either before 07 or after TLK

@@TheSilverwolf97 actually, there's an alternative cut of Bumblebee that starts with Bee already on Earth,which shows that the movie can still act as a prequel depending on your preferences.

It sucks we only get Skids and Mudflaps. Some had issues with their personalities and basically forced them to not bring them back. Apparently they forgot Jazz in the first one how he learned to talk and act from the internet and these two focused on a language they loved. 20:14 ran out of energon and needed a boost. 21:28 they used this to explain when Shia LeBouef was in an accident and damaged his hand. 23:31 he’s Wheelie. 24:53 Arcee in this one is actually three motorcycles. They’re more a team than an individual autobot. 30:17 not “biological”. They’re family cause he was worthy of the power of the Primes.

If you like Arcee, you gotta watch Transformers Prime. It’s regarded by most of the fandom as the best show in the entire franchise, and Arcee is a main character.

I don't see any other comments on this, so: @32:22 if you are talking about the human character then that is 100% real. As in that actual actor did climb on the REAL pyramid in Egypt. At the time it was a big deal because they DO NOT let you film on the Great Pyramids. Reportedly John Turturro even broke down in tears at one point in awe for being allowed to film at a site with so much history.
Edit: And, yes, Michael Bay was given an extremely rare opportunity to film on a fiercely protected historical site with massive historical significance for all of mankind... and he used it to make a joke about balls. /sigh
It's noteworthy that Optimus Prime also eventually came back to life in the original cartoon...he has a habit of doing that in transformers stories

I was fourteen years old when this movie came out in theatres and I was actually in my final year of public school by the time it came out. And I got a few of my friends to watch this in theatres during the summer. And I can’t wait to see you react to Dark of the Moon.

This is one of my guilty pleasure movies. It isn't even the best Transformers movie, but something about it is just the most fun one to me. I find it highly enjoyable and love the action. Some parts of it, and by that I mean most, are all over the place, but it's still a fun ride. The first 3 movies are far and away the best ones and it's not even close. I cannot stand the ones with Mark Whalberg in them.
Naturally in Transformers lore, Cybertronians were manufactured.
Small complaint, but Jetfire actually gets some of his lore wrong. There were actually THIRTEEN original Primes, not seven.
