There is a reason that song plays. If you look at all the evidence over the course of the series it points at Optimus being responsible for the All spark ending up in deep space which leads to the fall of CyberTron.
It’s impressive how amazing the CGI still looks for a 2007 movie. Out of all the Transformers films, they went hard on the music score for this one. Autobots arriving theme is so well done
2007 wasn't exactly the Dark Ages. Sure, we didn't have any nuclear-powered robots with laser guns rolling around Mars at the time, but only because our first one was still travelling there that year.

Fun fact: When Megatron was on ice, he was conscious the entire time. Since he landed on Earth. For all these years he heard everything the humans said. When Sam saw him he called him "Megatron, the destroyer of worlds, the conquerer, the tyrant", Megatron heard someone pronounce his name for the first time in 2000 years. At Sector 7 they all called him "NBE-1", even correcting Sam when he called him Megatron. So when he got unfrozen he said "I AM *MEGATRON!!!!!* " just to correct the humans and confirming that his name was the one Sam said.

BTW Bumble Bee's original car form was the yellow Volkswagon Beetle but when Michael Bay made his version of Transformers he made Bee's car form the 1977 Chevrolet Camero because it was cooler and also Bee could talk but Bay thought it would be cool if Bee talked through the car's radio instead of using his actual voice
Bee was a Camaro because Bay had a huge marketing tie-in with Chevrolet when his movies were made. Notice how nearly all the Autobots transform into Chevy or GMC vehicles. That was watered down after the Great Recession when GM kinda went bankrupt and had to be bailed out.
Watch the Animated TRANSFORMERS movie from 1986. The original scripts were a lot different than the final cut of the movie: One draft had the robot characters arrive on Earth in a large spacecraft. It was going to be told from a human perspective, very similar to 1970's disaster films. The robot characters had no dialogue at all. Another draft had 6 Autobots and 6 Decepticons arriving on Earth and that they that have been feuding since the dawn of time, implying that they have been around for billions of years. The climax would have been an old style showdown in the Grand Canyon before it was changed to the city. Joseph Kahn and Robert Zemeckis were considered for directing the movie, until producer Steven Spielberg picked Michael Bay. Ay first, Bay turned it down, because he thought that making a kids movie aimed at kids ws a stupid idea, but when he read the script, he knew it would be more darker than the final cut of the film
The origins of the Transformers is broken down exceptionally well in an episode of a Netflix series called 'The Toys That Made Us'. They get into how execs from Hasbro combined various toy lines of transforming toys from Japanese company Takara to re-brand their products into the broader Transformers brand for international markets. It's pretty a fascinating watch. While vehicles are typically the main form they take, there have been bots that have been boom boxes, a microscope, cameras, hand guns, animals, insects and all sorts of goofy and fun forms
On a boring weekend afternoon, I put this movie on for my 5 year old son back then after it first came out and an immediate relationship between my son and Transformers was born. They've been inseparable since. It's been 15 years. We both went to the movie theater to see the new Transformers movie with Anthony Ramos. Yes, I, too, am a fan.
Flip that... It was synergy. Made the cartoon to help sell the toys transported over from Japan. It was very common in the 80s, really... GI Joe, He-man, Transformers Cartoons were just big commercials
Flip that. Hasbro & Takara Tomy collabed to produce the Transformers toy line. After their huge success, Marvel then produced Transformers comic books, & then Marvel Productions and Sunbow Productions create the TV series in association with Toei Animation for the first-run syndication.
@MarzOnline92 Hasbro went to Japan to find new toys to sell to American children. The toys they event bought and rebranded as "Transformers" already existed - the First Generation. In fact, many were from completely separate toy lines in Japan. That's why some of the Transformer figures are... odd. They are fullsized vehicles, except for Megatron and Soundwave? Those were from a special toy line dedicated to transforming small items
The first one is still a really fun and charming film. Has that Spielberg touch. They definitely go off the rails after part 1, but it doesn't change how great part 1 was in 2007. I'm an 80s kid who grew up on the original series and adored the first film
“I liked that the transformers all had their own unique personalities and I assume in the next movies we’ll see more of them.” 😂😂😂😂 oh she has no clue the development other transformers get in the future.
I used to watch Transformers cartoon when I was a kid. Optimus Prime and Grimlock are my favorite characters. I used to have the 80s toys but I bought a loose Grimlock off a guy at a game store years ago. The store didn’t want it so I bought it off the guy for 20 dollars. I’m meeting Peter Cullen in July who voices Optimus Prime from the tv show and these movies. When Shia says more than meets the eye. That is from the tv show Transformers more than meets the eye. I liked Optimus Prime character because the voice is amazing for his character
The mom was hilarious. "We'll call it Sam's happy time". Transformers is like Jurassic Park for me. The first movie was good but the sequels got progressively worse to the point I stopped caring when one was announced.
Lady, "more than meets the eye" is part of the song of the 80's TV cartoon series which is called Generation one or G1. Live action movies are based on those cartoons and toy line. the voice of Optimus Prime is the same of the cartoon series, Peter Cullen...and some other cool things, fan service etc.
Really would enjoy watching all these Transformers movies with you Kacey. Watching you getting invested as this one progressed was super fun. FYI Bumblebee has his own origin movie and his first human companion is a young lady. I think you will enjoy that one. 😊
More than meets the eye has been the catchphrase of the transformers since they first showed up in 1984. The opening line of the first cartoon's opening is "transformers more than meets the eye"
They aren't brothers, but bonded before the fall of Cybertron. They were like officers serving under Sentinel Prime. Optimus finds out he is a descendant of the Primes, the ones who rule Cybertron. Megatron's jealousy drives him to the Fallen, those that opposed the Primes.
Scorpinok and Frenzy are both examples of mini cons. They were a class of transformers that were roughly human sized. Like with other factions they have their own unique insignia.
“More than meet the eye” was a lyrics of the Transformers animate series… since with transformers, you have more than meet the eye. That was another inside reference.
Megatron was actually saying that to all the people who were unlucky enough to be in the same room. While he could not move, he still could hear and feel everything being done to him while he was in basically human custody. He wanted those people to know exactly who was ending them.
Sparks are the hearts/souls of Transformers, the Allspark (which, yes, is the name of the cube) is named as such because its the source from which all sparks come from.
Transformers started off as a toy then became a cartoon later. Both the Autobots and Decepticons have their own specific faction symbols. The Autobot insignia is seen on Bumblebee's wheel and on Optimus when he first transforms. In this movie the only one that displays the Decepticon insignia is Barricade on the police patch located on either side of the car behind the front wheels. In the cartoons the symbols were clearly displayed regardless of what form they were in so kids could know who was on what team.
Kacee, I grew up watching the cartoons in the early 80's on television. At least watching the first couple of the Transformers is fun and worth the watch.
Transformers was one of the most massively popular things in the 80s. It was basically a toy line where you could transform robots into cars, planes and other vehicles. The toys were then supported by a popular cartoon series and comic-books by Marvel. There was an animated movie back then, but a live-action movie always seemed near impossible until CGI reached a certain level.
As a child of the 1970s, the Transformers were a massive part of my childhood - I see you've reacted to the 1986 animated movie too so I'll watch that reaction too. As soon as the helicopter (Blackout) made that familiar "transforming" sound, I was a child again! And even more when Optimus Prime appeared, and spoke with the familiar voice of Peter Cullen, who has voiced the character since 1984! I used to have a friend who was a massive nitpicker with films; when he watched this, it got to the scene where Lennox (Josh Duhamel) slides off the motorbike to shoot Blackout from underneath. My friend said "that was totally unbelievable, no trousers could stop his skin getting ripped to shreds by the road friction!" I could only reply "THAT'S what you nitpick in a movie about 20-foot-tall transforming alien robots?!"
Yeah the whole "More than meets the eye" thing is a call back to the 1982 animated show. "More than meets the eye" is like the Transformers slogan. The main theme song goes: "The Transformers. More than meets the eye." Essentially saying that the vehicles we see aren't actually vehicles. Finally the way they were differentiated in the beginning was that the Autobots were domestic Land vehicles; such as cars and vans/trucks; while the Decepticons were primarily military vehicles. Fighter Jets, mostly while their leader Megatron was an actual gun. As the seasons moved on their versatility changed and both sides had varying types of vehicles.
Transformers started as a toyline-supported cartoon in 1984, running for four seasons, with a much larger cast of TF characters and a 20-year time jump in-between seasons two and three with the real first TF movie (released in 1986). The voice of Optimus Prime was performed both on the show and here in this movie by beloved and prolific voice actor Peter Cullen. To many of my generation, he was our favorite action hero. Also Bumblebee transrmed into a classic VW Beetle, as referenced in the Bernie Mac scenes.
A transformers ability to change what they can turn into can vary. Some start out what they turn into, like Scorponok, city bots/titans, and insecticons. The usual cybertronian can change what they turn into via scanning, which can be re-done. I'm willing to bet that no character in the entire franchise had more thought put into their personality than Peter Cullen did for Optimus. He got advice from his brother (who was in the military, RIP) how to sound like a hero: "Be tough enough to be gentle."
2:11 They can basically transform into any device/vehicle, or even animals in the case of the Maximals and Predacons. I mean, in the comics there were even bots who turned into memory sticks and toasters, not to mention the orignal Soundwave being a cassette player
This is my moms favorite movie and I think of her anytime I watch it. Ironically I watched real steel with my dad and that’s a pretty cherished memory I have with him. Giant robots fighting just remind me of my parents 😂
Yes watch them all I think Transformers is the most underrated movie franchise ever in my opinion I really enjoy the characters both the humans and the autobots the on screen actors and voice actors do a really good job, and the CGI and special effects are still really good and every time I watch Michael Bay Transformers movies they go by quickly for me everybody said their too long but not me I think Transformers is underrated as hell in my opinion.
27 now dad took me to watch this at the movies in 2007 I knew transformers was an old animated show but couldn't comprehend how they was going to make this into a real life movie and it did not disappoint at all 🙏🏽💯🔥💪🏽
Fun fact, I’ve been to the set of Transformers 2 when they filmed near my hometown back in PA! It was so cool to see them filming scenes and racing around. It was made to look like an old factory in another country, but it was actually the former Bethlehem Steel Mill! I had fun with these movies back in day, but they’ve gotten progressively worse. Still, enjoy it for the channel! You watch what you want to watch, or what works for the channel. 💛

The toys were then supported by a popular cartoon series and comic-books by Marvel. There was an animated movie back then, but a live-action movie always seemed near impossible until CGI reached a certain level.
These movies used to be my life when I was younger you definitely gotta finish them
As a child of the 1970s, the Transformers were a massive part of my childhood - I see you've reacted to the 1986 animated movie too so I'll watch that reaction too.
Please watch the rest of the series. It's totally fun 😄.
This is my moms favorite movie and I think of her anytime I watch it. Ironically I watched real steel with my dad and that’s a pretty cherished memory I have with him. Giant robots fighting just remind me of my parents 😂
The speed of the action scenes is so fast the 1st time you watch this movie you have to watch the movie again to really see it all
Yes watch them all
I think Transformers is the most underrated movie franchise ever in my opinion I really enjoy the characters both the humans and the autobots the on screen actors and voice actors do a really good job, and the CGI and special effects are still really good and every time I watch Michael Bay Transformers movies they go by quickly for me everybody said their too long but not me I think Transformers is underrated as hell in my opinion.
27 now dad took me to watch this at the movies in 2007 I knew transformers was an old animated show but couldn't comprehend how they was going to make this into a real life movie and it did not disappoint at all 🙏🏽💯🔥💪🏽

Kacee keep watching these movies!! They are some of my favorite movies! ❤
fun fact.At 25:39, the person megatron flicked was micheal bay(the director of the movie)
Yes Kacee, continue with the Transformers franchise
Transformers were a major part of my childhood
definitely should do the whole series lol
Can't wait for the next one
