Hey there, I have a 2015 Tacoma - Super White, bought it used- Toyota Certified from a Toyota Dealer in Tysons Corner Virginia. They screwed up the windshield they replaced prior to selling it to me ( they did not seat the gasket properly) it leaked every time it rained and well- never did fix it. I luckily found a local window repair guy who did it for no cost as it was such a simple fix. As for my Tacoma- I do like it, bought a matching cap last year & all was good till just recently I notice the paint started to flake near my rear door window. What the F I thought. I'm still paying Toyota $400 a month in payments. I was like- FOR REAL? I went through this bullcrap with a 93 White Jeep Grand Wagoneer. I was washing it one day, paint started flaking & I literally hosed the paint off. What crap was that. Only good thing was I knew someone at a Dodge dealer and they painted it for no cost. Any other word if Toyota is willing to do the honorable thing and fix what they made wrong? Thanks for any feedback.
My wife's Lexus IS300, 2017 with less than 14k miles, in Nightfall Mica is starting to bubble and peel all over the car. No letter, but I am calling Lexus.
Guys. Check under your bed. White 18 SR. 4" patches of faint rust. Used rarely and only a few times in the rain. It is parked on grass n dirt on a hill. Outside is hard to clean but usually shines up. Check under the bed and bring a flashlight. Don't let it turn in to a monster.
I ordered the 2017 White Tacoma trd 4x4 crew cab new . Both rear doors paint peeling to bare metal at upper rear window curve right next to molding. Toyota would not do anything ZERO Never buy a Toyota. I also own a 2018 Rav4 hybrid the same color white I will be getting rid of it Toyota is not an honorable company
17 Tacoma super white paint peeling on the side of the rear door .. Toyota program over the phone says my vin number doesn’t apply to that program .. also the dealership says I have to pay out of my pocket to fix. very frustrating .
I haven’t received a letter. But called Toyota and they keep saying that they only qualify certain vin number. I gave up on my local dealership. Talk to the service manager and general and they keep giving me the run around.
I just noticed paint pealing on my super white Tacoma door handles. Called the dealership, they ran my VIN and said it doesn’t have a recall for paint pealing but they’ll look at it and if they determine it’s Toyota fault I’ll leave my truck and they’ll fix it. It’s a 2020 OR!!!
I have a white 2016 Toyota Tacoma with paint peeling off . I’m doing my best to get them to repaint the truck . It’s peeling around the windshield, fenders , around the doors . The sad thing about this is I bought this a certified used Toyota. I’ve only had this truck for a year now and don’t feel this should be my responsibility to pay out of pocket to repaint this truck . Im still paying for this truck.
My 2014 Toyota Corolla in blue crush metal is peeling and flaking, due to factory flaws. Wondering how many others experiencing this with that color as well?
2013 red yaris. Started peeling 5 years ago. Clear coat. Now red falling off. Toyota hasn't included red when obviously its the same issues. Are they waiting as long as possible to use years against us?
I have a 2017 Toyota Tacoma Sport with an Orange paint finish. The paint is peeling off the roof and hood. Contacted Toyota today and they said it was not covered. I guess I have to pay to have it fixed myself. It will definitely be the last time I ever buy a Toyota product. Very disappointed.
My 2016 Tacoma access cab white I've just noticed under the hood is already showing lots of rust. I only have 40,000 miles on the truck. Plus the exterior seems to chip very easily....
I own a 2020 4Runner in Super White. Less than 1,500 miles she already 3 scratches to the metal. No way in hell these little nicks should be to the metal. I’ve owned 6 Toyota’s + 9 other cars and this paint is paper thin.
Have a 16 Tacoma super white. It has been a nightmare dealing with Toyota to fix the bubbling peeling issue. Denied by Toyota national customer service twice, and finally dealership caved after initially spewing out the same "Tacomas aren't covered" BS. They fixed the one side, but now it's happening on the other side in the exact same places. And once again they are trying to not cover. Wtf is up with a Japanese company blatantly trying to weasel out of taking care of the known and documented problem?? Dishonorable behavior from a culture that typically does not act in this manner.
2007 Tacoma in Super White. Entire front end and passenger door, the paint is blistered and flaking off like dried white glue that's turned yellowish clear. Hood is the worst. Fish eyes and Big patches of paint gone - blistered all over the front fenders, bumper, and passenger door. Going to call the Customer Experience number. It's terrible! BTW, this Tacoma was made in Fremont, CA, lived most of its life in Phoenix, AZ.
My 2016 Toyota Tundra Platinum white just started chipping around the windshield and tailgate. I heard there's a recall, but they said not Tundra, which is a toyota vehicle, and the same white paint. I guess the Tundra needs to be added to the list. Would you know anything about this with Toyota.
I have a 2023 white 4Runner. 6,000 miles on it and several paint chips already and they don’t look like it’s from something hitting it like a rock etc. very disappointing. Backup camera quality is abysmal as well and barely crosses threshold of being usable
I have a silver 06 and my fender flare paint is eroding away, wheels bubbling, and the paint on the hood has cop size spots where the paint is rupturing from the inside and blowing these little spots out. Terrible paint jobs on these trucks and I thought I was buying quality.
i have a blue Tocoma and the paint faded and pealed away. Toyota said they did not cover this color. Professional body people told me the paint problem I have comes from the primer. Stuck with an ugly truck.
My 2011 Super White Tundra is peeling all around the bed. I brought it to the dealership, and they did a thorough analysis which took quite a while, but when they finally returned, they just said, "Yeah, your truck is definitely having the same peeling problem, but it's not covered under the recall, so....bye?" They suggested that I call Toyota and report my problem, which I finally just did. Other Tundra owners should do the same.
Woukd the paint be effected on a 2013 white Tundra? I know the white was a problem. Not sure which cars it affected. Any help would be appreciated. I am looking at a white 2013 Tundra.
The paint thing is real. The dealership got every metal panel on my white scion to peel. Repainted the whole thing. I payed for a few pieces to be painted too.
came across this video and having problems with my 2017 TRD SPORT now, and trying to figure out, after sending a message to corporate and responce was no recall on your vehicle. BS
2009 Toyota Corolla S here, (stark white, not pearl blizzard), got the letter last year, paint letter is a Notice and NOT an actual recall, just to be clear. Mine isn't outright peeling (yet) but on the hood, an area appears as thought it could soon, there are several areas (hood only as far as I can tell) where you can see it looks like it could bubble soon, and there's a ton of smaller spots (again, primarily the hood) that have gone thru paint (tiny rocks from freeway or ?) it seems the paint isn't holding up the way it should really, I keep it pretty clean, I drive it a lot.
I received a letter on my 2014 Toyota Camry super white paint color. Paint looks like the clear coat is the problem on my vehicle car has no shine. I was wondering if anyone had the car wrapped and covered by Toyota recall instead of getting it repainted.
Just know that Toyota will patch the peeling paint only once. They will not repaint the whole car and if it peels again in the future, you are on your own. How do I know? I just got off the phone with Customer Support.
I got the same recall letter and I have a 2020 BLACK corolla se - made in usa. My paint is super thin. Seems to have no clear coat. Scratches super easy and chips super easy. Even waxing leaves swirls and scrstches! I am in Canada. Toyota sent me a letter saying they would not repair the paint but extend my paint warrantee to 10 years. Odd because black was not a recall color...or is all their paint bad? Dealer all closed due to covid. Great car but very disappointed.
I have a 2017 Toyota Tacoma Double Cab Super White with paint peeling problem, right along the rear passenger door window seals. I called Toyota Customer and was only told that my issue has been documented but will get back to me when there’s enough case for them to say that they will take actions. I just hope they do it soon since this is actually part of their past.
i ordered the 2017 White Tacoma trd 4x4 crew new Both rear doors paint peeling to bare metal at upper rear window curve right next to molding. Toyota would not do anything ZERO Never buy a Toyota. I also own a 2018 Rav4 hybrid the same color white I will be getting rid of it Toyota is not an honorable company
I have received that letter for a 2008 Toyota RAV4, Super White. The letter states only the effected body panels will be repaired. So now the paint won’t match the rest of the car. It will be very obvious only certain body panels have been repainted. Waste of time.
My Tacoma is having this issue but they supposedly don’t have my vehicle as a part of their program to be repaired. I have seen a handful of white tacoma owners with this issue and I’m hoping more report the problem so we can get this fixed.
I've got a 2012 Tacoma in Super white that has peeling paint on the doors and a bit on the hood. I called Toyota the other day and they said that this doesn't apply to my truck because they haven't had many complaints from other Tacoma owners about the paint. Frustrating.
2013 Tacoma super white here. I noticed about 2.5 years ago despite taking care of the paint. Have a complaint noted. But it is frustrating for sure...
I bought my 2015 Toyota Corolla on October 2014. First brand new car. I started noticing paint peeling after 3 and a half years, it didnt bother me much because it was on all the inside edges of all doors including the trunk & hood. One of the times I had my car serviced @ Toyota, they gave my car a car wash and the peeling got worse on the left front fender; I even brought the car back to Toyota and the service guy said he couldnt do much...it was out of warranty and he admitted that at least once to twice a month, another Corolla 2015-2016 have had complaints of paint, but not enough for a recall. I even called Toyota; they said they couldnt do anything...til this day, I havent heard any recalls and I dont know what else to do...
My 2020 4runner with 3k on it has bubbled up Clearcoat from bugs.240 mile road trip and washed the front within 5 hours. Hose water pressure started pealing paint & clearcoat. So far Toyota says it's not a warrantee item.
I'm having the flaking paint issues on my 2017 Tacoma and contacted Toyota about it they said they cant help me with the issue, all they did was give me case number and said have a nice day. Mine is in the Super White color.
My 2007 white Tacoma started peeling in 2018 below the tail light. Well not feeling so bad now about my 2020 getting vandalized kids throwing rocks and the roof and most of front end being repainted. Sucked but maybe it will be for the best.
I’ve got a 16 Camry, super white. It has a bunch of pinholes in the paint and chips all along the doors. It only has 21,000 miles and was kept inside but I’d imagine it’s going to get bad.
I own a 2012 Tacoma with (040) Super White paint color. Paint flaking off the B pillars and around the passenger side windows. Just got off the phone with Toyota Customer Program Recall and I was told unfortunately Tacoma trucks (entered my VIN) are not included in the paint recall!
2008 speedway blue! Clear coat is junk! only 80k miles and flaking on hood, fenders, roof, front grille and bumper. Wish they would help us out... pricey stuff
D Mac same model and year and same result. Our dealer service writer called it road chips. I told him his products paint jobs were lower quality than my dozen year old vehicles.
@@Wraytex our 2005 Tacoma is the same color white and has held up far better. Also the fit and finish of the front bumper plastics is terrible on the 4runner. Great rig but sorry to see Toyota's quality control slipping
Would they look like this. I'm in Canada is why I ask, the ones the dealers sell here aren't my favorite and am wondering if there different in the US. Thanks. www.ebay.com/itm/Genuine-Toyota-00258-218BC-21-Attitude-Black-Base-coat-Touch-Up-Paint-Pen-44/292976013450?hash=item4436bb308a:g:8YoAAOSwV0RXth4r
I use Toyota & a SIM card tool. The paint is so thin it’s hard to stay ‘inside’ the scratch when touching up. It seriously looks like no primer and a single coat. I’m pissed. At this rate my 2020 4Runner be covered in touch up spots in a year.
I worked as a Detailer at A Toyota dealership, (not 3rd party or outsourced) and was told, super white is a stage 1 paint with NO clear coat. We had to use different methods to buff and treat this paint finish.
My wife has a 2011 RAV4 blizzard pearl the paint is peeling off in sheets like sheets of paper I have seen a lot of people complaining about the same problem with this color I notified Toyota of the problem a couple years back glad to see they might fix it. I also got a letter I imagine they will paint this hole car because just about every panel is peeling
Yes. My 2017 SR5 XP CrewMax is over sprayed from the bottom of the cab, up. The layer of paint is about 12" high and looks like it bubble up. The truck's paint is listed as Super White(040).
I had a guy tell me that he knew that the tundra was one of the most American made trucks, he couldn't own one because his grandpa fought in WWII and hated the Japanese so much, it kinda confused me when he said that
My 2017 Tacoma Sport is having paint issues. It is peeling on driver’s side back door near window. I spoke with the dealer today and they said the higher ups will determine whether to proceed with Corporate about the issue. A little disappointed. Hope to hear from soon.
Toyota needs to market their USA made trucks. I'm tired of hearing people still calling their Silverados an American truck and Tundras being Japanese! GM obviously cares more about Mexico than the U.S. these days.
1995 Camry Black -paint oeeled off the mirrors - got a recall 2009 Camry white - paint looked bad quick - but never got a recall - this was the years Camry that had the problems with the accelerator getting stuck. 2016 Tundra - current vehicle - Charcoal Grey good paint so far - unpainted door handles look like crap. :(
I have a super white 15 pro only problem I have with paint is the plastic piece under the headlight is a different shade of white then the rest of the truck anyone else have this problem. Doesn’t match and irritates me.
Yes they usually spend a lot of money at plants when it comes to redesign and model change. They put a lot into our plant for the new highlander coming out late this fall and it’s for the reasons you mentioned. Retooling, training, new and better machines, and adding jobs. Great company to work for and I’m proud to help assemble the Highlander!
I have 2020 Camry se black/blue pearl. The paint looks like it has stains more on the hood then other areas. Also the rubber trim on the doors have faded ( had one piece replaced less then 6 months ago and it's faded again)
I am so glad to have found your video here as my husband lost this letter that he received for his 2006 Tundra. The letter mentions just the white paints, but then later says his truck qualifies, but it is a bright blue. The hood and cab roof are almost completely void of paint. The cab roof is brown from rust and the hood not only is faded and paint worn off, but hundreds of dings into the paint down to the metal. It is am embarrassment to be seen in, although my husband loves his truck with or without the paint issues. Since you posted this have you heard anything else. We never received a follow up letter and the dealerships know nothing about his because it isn't in their recall database. I will be calling the number on the letter this week to do some more investigating.
Yet my 06 has a few different paint issues and I never got any letters. I wanted a Tacoma as my dream truck and ended up with junk. I expected more from Toyota.
Toyota has been less than helpful. My 2017 Highlander XLE with Black paint is delaminating to the area under the top of the tailgate. Blows my mind. I have 45k mikes, no damage otherwise. My running boards are melting as well.
My 06 isn’t peeling but it is eroding away on my fender flares. Mines silver but still shouldn’t be doing that. The paint bubbles on all the wheels too.
Yes my 2014 Toyota Corolla blue
Or Toyota is not paying. I am battling the paint peel issue on a 2 1/2 year old Toyota that is even still under factory warranty.
2017 Toyota Tacoma four by four paint peeling around the windows
I have a 2020 Barcelona Red Tundra Limited Crewmax with paint issues. Peeling and scratches easy.

They ain't paying for nothing. Toyota has been telling everyone that their vehicle is not covered by this program!
Yes it's sand color 2020 Tundra I am trying to get them fix it.
17 Tacoma super white paint peeling on the side of the rear door .. Toyota program over the phone says my vin number doesn’t apply to that program .. also the dealership says I have to pay out of my pocket to fix. very frustrating .
2012 Super White color Tacoma here. Toyota Customer rep said based on my vin, I don't qualify either.
Same here. I own a 2016 white tacoma. They better fix this soon. It’s BS
I haven’t received a letter. But called Toyota and they keep saying that they only qualify certain vin number. I gave up on my local dealership. Talk to the service manager and general and they keep giving me the run around.
I have not gotten a letter. My white Rav4 has lost all the white paint on the roof. I am totally disgusted with the lack of response from Toyota.

My truck sixty thousand miles this isn’t okay for the paint to be peeling. My main concern is rust around the windshield becoming a bigger issue.

Unfortunately the Tacoma isn’t one of their vehicles to be fixed yet. Hopefully they change this soon.
I have a 2014 Super White Limited CM and I haven’t received a letter like this.
My 2012 tacoma paint peeled around the back passenger window. White

Anyone having issues with their Cement colored vehicles? My brand new 21 Tacoma has chips on it already. Truck has only 500 miles.

My 2016 040 Super White Tacoma Limited is getting repainted as I type this. Paint is peeling off both front fenders.
2012 Rav4 super white paint peeling in places on the vehicle especially the hood
2008 speedway blue! Clear coat is junk! only 80k miles and flaking on hood, fenders, roof, front grille and bumper. Wish they would help us out... pricey stuff
The paint on my 18 TRD 4runner in super white, scratches and peels off the painted plastic parts like crazy!
A bit off topic but who makes the best paint pens for touch ups, Toyota?
I use toyota genuine
I have a super white 2019 4runner and the paint scrapes off very easily.
My 17 TRD Tacoma just started pealing after a rain storm on the rear passenger door by the window. Is this a recall or am I stuck with the repairs?
I hate the I only buy American argument when half of those cars are actually built in Mexico or Canada. 😂
I just bought a pre-owned 2019 Rav4 Super White. So this means I have to wait until the problem begins? Why not fix it immediately?
Have you had any issues? My 19 RAV4 Super White paint has been perfect, now at almost 130k miles, mostly parked outside.
Wade Cornett that’s normal to protect the truck from rocks on the road.
@@Rockdaground I read that but it's starting to chip.
Same thing I was told. They went thicker to add extra protection in that specific area. Sucks you’re dealing with that
I had a guy tell me that he knew that the tundra was one of the most American made trucks, he couldn't own one because his grandpa fought in WWII and hated the Japanese so much, it kinda confused me when he said that
It's an American made truck, but it still a Japanese company though. All the profit goes to Japan. I dont mind it though.
My 2017 Tacoma Sport is having paint issues. It is peeling on driver’s side back door near window. I spoke with the dealer today and they said the higher ups will determine whether to proceed with Corporate about the issue. A little disappointed. Hope to hear from soon.
Same issue what do we do ?
My 2018 tundra is black but the whole bottom of the truck is going white 35'000 km and I'm struggling to get them to fix it
Toyota needs to market their USA made trucks. I'm tired of hearing people still calling their Silverados an American truck and Tundras being Japanese! GM obviously cares more about Mexico than the U.S. these days.
And Dodge too.
Tacoma’s are made in Mexico and the Ram Hemi motors are made in Mexico. The Tundra and Ridgline are the purest American trucks...
I have a 2019 Tundra TRD Pro Super white no letter yet but paint chips easily hope I get the letter
I have a 2018 1794 super white and I can see like rust dots in the doors, and most of the time it’s in my garage!!
1995 Camry Black -paint oeeled off the mirrors - got a recall
2009 Camry white - paint looked bad quick - but never got a recall - this was the years Camry that had the problems with the accelerator getting stuck.
Shannon Waid yeeeesssssss!!! I thought I was the only one hahaha
Im sitting next to my moms highlander in the garage as i read your comment
I have 2020 Camry se black/blue pearl. The paint looks like it has stains more on the hood then other areas. Also the rubber trim on the doors have faded ( had one piece replaced less then 6 months ago and it's faded again)
Any recall on silver 2018 Corolla? I noticed that the paint is peeling from the back and just brought almost a month ago from the dealer.
Most Toyota vehicles lose paint down the sides of the roof, it's pretty much expected with any color.
What do you mean side of the, roof?
@@MrHogghunter the paint is fine in the middle of the roof, but the sides peel off
EPA or some agency has ruined paint. No lead allowed. Just get used to the rust, or start spraying annually.
Antisocialist nothing to do with lead you idiot
Yet my 06 has a few different paint issues and I never got any letters. I wanted a Tacoma as my dream truck and ended up with junk. I expected more from Toyota.
Our white tundra has pint issues
Our classic black 2014 Sequoia Limited easily scratches and is chipping on the doors with 88k miles.
jsmorefield black has always showed imperfections in all makes. Every black vehicle I’ve owned has had this.
Easy solution to that is dont park at Walmart
Toyota has been less than helpful. My 2017 Highlander XLE with Black paint is delaminating to the area under the top of the tailgate. Blows my mind. I have 45k mikes, no damage otherwise. My running boards are melting as well.
My 06 had paint eroding away on plastic components and paint bubbling on the wheels. Toyota just isn’t what it used to be.
Does this cover 2011 Camry or just the newer models..? I would greatly appreciate some letting me know about this. Thank you
My 09 Tacoma is peeling around the windows and the bed, super white
My 06 isn’t peeling but it is eroding away on my fender flares. Mines silver but still shouldn’t be doing that. The paint bubbles on all the wheels too.
