- If I Could Turn Back Time from Classic Cher at MGM Theatre at National Harbor in Washington DC during September 2-10 2017. Cher gives Joel Hoekstra a hug.
Joel Hoekstra played with Cher on her Classic Cher tour during May (Las Vegas), August (Las Vegas) and September (Washington DC) of 2017 - including a TV performance on 2017 Billboard Music Awards. On the last night of Cher's residency in DC Cher hugs Joel Hoekstra in a show of gratitude. Joel is joining Cher again for shows in January 2018.
Most Cher fan videos only show Cher and pretty much ignore everyone else in the show. Not this one... This video gives Joel some frame action with Cher by using clips over several nights during Classic Cher's two week DC run. One thing I learned while editing this video, Cher does not do the exact same performance every night. The audio and video in this multi-camera video has been enhanced from original sources. Such a classy guy! And he looks like he's having fun and Cher clearly appreciates him. The other guitar player Cher used to have since her "Believe" tour, he was good but didn't really seem like he was into it as much. Kinda like, "ok, I'm gonna play this and go home now." I wouldn't be surprised if he was fired because Joel was not only a great player on the guitars but he enjoyed himself and it showed. The hug was so sweet! Something Cher never did with the other guitar player.
