Hell yea man, i've had mine for just under a year and I definitely agree with you on everything. My concern at first was the reliability of the mkV as older Toyotas were known to be bulletproof. The generations of the early UZs, 4ages, JZs, etc so to have the b58 stand against that was big shoes to fill. Thus far it has handled a beating as i'm just over 10k miles now. I saw Babayaga racing just showed him whomping a new vette so that shows more promise in the strength of this platform. I'd say you got lucky with your 30 minute oil change, believe it or not, the dealership I went to took like 3 hours because the techs couldn't see the ODO reset button on the bottom left of the cluster because it was so dark. They claimed because everything was 'fancy' they expected even that button to be located in the menu system somewhere. I kinda could see that 😄 Anyways, safe driving!

I would recommend you shop around at different dealerships before you buy one I drove 90 miles away from me for my A91 edition and they sold it to me for over $5500 cheaper than my local dealership was going to sell me a 3.0 premium edition for. Also go ahead and order you a set of wind deflectors the wind noise in the Supra is terrible with the windows down lol
I'm excited for the premiere of this video! It kinda saddens me that you plan on selling your beautiful Supra for the final production model of the Proto Z in the future. Well Toyota actually had just as much of their knowledge into the development as BMW did. And they specifically said they made sure the engine met their criteria. So far many owners are well into the 40k mile range and nobody has had any issues with these. They seem pretty solid

Love the video. I didn't know how long you'd stick with the Supra, considering it's much slower than the GTR. But it's definitely good to have a daily driver and yours is SO much cooler than my daily driver. I know your experience is with the Z cars, but have you ever considered a 2016-2019 Chevy Corvette Z06? I know, I know, American is not Japanese. I've felt the same way in the past, but Chevy has made some serious strides to compete in the past decade. I don't know if you remember, but I told you that I wanted to get a used GTR or a new Supra. Now I'm strongly considering a Z06 or a used GTR. I could get the Z06 for cheaper, the car is nice as heck (I've now driven 3 of them), and it has more horsepower than a GTR. I realize that I can build a GTR to be much quicker, but since I won't have much funds after buying the car and I live in California, the land of smog nazis, I have to keep the car super close to stock. What do you think of the Z06? And if you haven't at least test driven one or checked one out, you're doing yourself a disservice. I originally wanted a 2020 mid engine Corvette, but the markup from $57K MSRP has proven to be too much for me (I'm not gonna pay $80K or more for the car), I have looked a little bit into the 2016-2019 ones. I know this post is long, but what do you think of these Z06s? (650 rwhp, not actual hp, but still)
The Z06 is an epic car for sure!! In my opinion it's on par with a GTR just a RWD, manual, supercharged version. Personally I'd pick the GTR over it all day. Everyone in my town has a Corvette and they are all 60 year old men. lol. The Supra is faster in the slow speed setting then the GTR now that it's tuned. Only above around 70 is when the GTR takes over for speed. So around town the Supra rips like crazy!
Yeah man! You only live once! And when I'm old, I'll always have a cool memory to look back on of buying a dream car brand new. The money lost won't matter too much at that point ;)
You will broke my heart if you trade your Supra for the 400z. It may come with a stick but its design doesn't impress me at all. IMO, the 370z looks better than the new 400z! Please keep your GR but don't trade it!
This collab was a smart project from Toyota, it’s really desirable now. I do think Toyota should somehow add more Supra touches in the interior make it less BMW. Everything else about it being a Supra successor is perfect , increasing the turbo noises like what you did is a must. Will get one next year⚡️ Hoping to see you do more road trips or JDM meet-ups tho.

I don't think it's that BMW is not reliable. It's more that when compared to Japanese cars, BMW is not reliable and the parts are going to cost much more. It is similar with luxury brands like Lexus (Toyota) and Acura (Honda), but much more pronounced with BMW. German cars, in my opinion, don't have the longevity as Japanese cars do. But they certainly have their positives as well.
@@konanahmed3311 Thats a very good point. Some German cars end up being extremely robust and just never break. But a lot of little finicky tings mess up on them over time compared to Japanese cars.
May I suggest some cool detailing products. I just ordered Angelwax Bliss. This will create a very nice but understated scent in the vehicle. Another could be a sacrificial layer on top of your ceramic coat such a The Last Coat or Beadmaker.
Not at all 😅. The Supra regardless of a ‘special edition’ does not hold its value as well as the GTR. That’s new tho. I’m sure the Supra will hit its bottom and we’ll see if they just drop to nothing like an old BMW would. Or if they maintain a certain price like used GTR’s have. So it’s too early to 100% know. But in 2-3 years we’ll see what mine is worth. As of now my GTR can still be sold for what I paid. If not more!
Happy 1 year anniversary! I know this was a few years before you were born but I started liking the Supra back in 1987 when I was 17 and back then the top notches were the turbo version and I loved those cars! Hope you had time to look back on the 86-89 models because that generation of the Supra brings back great memories if you like classic cars!
Its already been developed since the beginning. They probably couldnt justify a manual if most people will buy the auto. GTR are auto only for example.
Definitely get a set of winter tires. I use summer tires year round, but the turbo and RWD make this annoying under 40 degrees out. Spins the tires all the time. So if you have proper tires for cold weather you'll be good!

Yeah I have the OEM tires. I’ve noticed if it’s less then 40 degrees, it spins like crazy when you floor it with the stock tune. With my full map it’ll spin pretty easy in the 60s I’m finding. These tires are fine year round. Just don’t be flooring it during the winter. I’ve been driving mine in the mid tune that makes 420/520 to the wheels and it’s hooking way better with the non summer temps

@@thebritish910 SOHO Motorsports does $1,200 for the ECUtek tuning on the dyno. And there cars seems to be pumping out some of the best numbers I've seen! If you can get to Charlotte NC, that'd be the way to go. But look into ECUtek software
Technically not really. The dealer would have to prove the mods have caused an issue. With my car tuned, I highly doubt my turbo would get replaced under warranty if it blows. But other things like headlights failing or window motor failing. Those would still be covered. Bet thing to do if something messes up. Put it all back to stock and drive it for a few days. Then bring it in. But some dealers are more picky then others. If you are concerned about warranty. Don't mod your car.
We'll see. People are well into the 30k mile range and nobody has had a single issue with the new Supra's. So far they are proving to be very reliable. Toyota did just as much work in the development as BMW did. They co-developed the B58 engine
It gets a decent amount. I’d say every time I drive it I get a few ppl waving. And every now and then ppl take photos and ask about it. So more attention then I anticipated
@@bentran3657 They get about the same to be honest. I'd say they get different kinds of people looking at them. Supra stands out more to normal people. But GR stands out more to car enthusiast.
Technically you ca't void a warranty. But with it tuned if my turbo blew up the dealer would blame the tune for the cause and not replace the turbo under warranty. They need to prove that the aftermarket part caused whatever issue. But if something happened, I'd just put the car back to stock anyways
That is the sound of the turbo. And when I let off the gas, thats the blow off valve letting all the boosted air escape. The sound is amplified by the intake on the car
Well the tuning made the turbo a bit louder as well as the downpipe. So now the turbo has more air to push. So more sound will be coming out of the intake too
What does it even matter? I mean, when someone works for something themselves, they're more likely to take care of it and not be reckless. But even if, like some youtubers I've seen at 17 with a Porsche GT3 wrapped, gets something from their family, who cares? It's still fun to watch and it's just a different perspective.

I'm planning in a few years to sell the Supra and buy the new Nissan 400Z which has a manual! So I'll have one again!

Yeah it'd be cool if they added a bit more to the interior. But A90 Supra is holding it's own for sure!

Yes.. by far 😅. Can’t is just a generic sedan. 86 is fun but too slow for me. The Supra handles amazing and has a ton of power to put you in the seat

Hey all this mods avoid The warranty right ?
Technically not really. The dealer would have to prove the mods have caused an issue. With my car tuned, I highly doubt my turbo would get replaced under warranty if it blows. But other things like headlights failing or window motor failing. Those would still be covered. Bet thing to do if something messes up. Put it all back to stock and drive it for a few days. Then bring it in. But some dealers are more picky then others. If you are concerned about warranty. Don't mod your car.

We'll see. People are well into the 30k mile range and nobody has had a single issue with the new Supra's. So far they are proving to be very reliable. Toyota did just as much work in the development as BMW did. They co-developed the B58 engine

Yeah the new Z has a lot to do to be as fun as the Supra. But I think with the manual it’ll be epic!! Got a few years before that. But that’ll be fun!

It gets a decent amount. I’d say every time I drive it I get a few ppl waving. And every now and then ppl take photos and ask about it. So more attention then I anticipated

Have you voided your warranty?
Technically you ca't void a warranty. But with it tuned if my turbo blew up the dealer would blame the tune for the cause and not replace the turbo under warranty. They need to prove that the aftermarket part caused whatever issue. But if something happened, I'd just put the car back to stock anyways

Is it turbo sound?
That is the sound of the turbo. And when I let off the gas, thats the blow off valve letting all the boosted air escape. The sound is amplified by the intake on the car

Well the tuning made the turbo a bit louder as well as the downpipe. So now the turbo has more air to push. So more sound will be coming out of the intake too
