- A circular walk in the Yorkshire Dales up to the summit of Whernside, which is the highest of the Yorkshire 3 Peaks at 736m. The walk starts from the impressive Ribblehead Viaduct, where there is plenty of car parking spaces at the side of the road. The route walks past the viaduct following the railway line. After crossing the railway by way of a bridge a really nice waterfall is seen. The route heads past the waterfall and after a short climb turns left over a fence stile. The route then follows a path on to the ridge which leads to the summit of Whernside. The route then continues over the summit and heads back down the other side of the fell, before walking back to the start point at Ribblehead Viaduct. Distance is around 8 miles.
Great video Eddie, nice to see you got some decent weather with some great views, Thanks for sharing
Thanks John, we both enjoyed the day. The weather and the views were really good. Thanks for watching & commenting, it is appreciated. Cheers. Eddie.
Hi eddie super video! I did this one last year but included inglebourough. was shattered when we got done. Lovely place very open and beautiful.
Thanks Andrew. You did well to do Ingleborough after Whernside, one was enough for us, no wonder you were shattered! Thanks for watching & commenting, it is appreciated. Cheers. Eddie.
Eddie Caisley To be fair Eddie it was too much really was a bit daft doing the two was around 15 miles by the time we got back to the car. It wasn’t a cool day either. It was more of the two climbs and the two downhills. Thanks for sharing brought back some good memory’s from last year. Still working on my video production hopefully I will be adding a video on soon.
Good video. Lots of data and information.
Thanks Michael, we enjoyed this walk. The viaduct is an impressive sight and the walk has great views from Whernside. Thanks for watching & for the kind comments, it is appreciated. Cheers. Eddie.
Great video and a reminder of a walk I have done a few times in the distant past. I have finally persuaded my wife to give it a go today !
Thanks Simon. It is a really nice walk and a walk we would definitely do again. I hope you have a great day and hopefully your wife will enjoy the walk. Thanks for watching & for the kind comments. Take care. Cheers. Eddie.
@@eddiecaisley5746 Hi Eddie - We did the walk and had a great day out despite it being very windy at the top. The wife did herself proud.
@@simonhesbrook1761 Hi Simon. That's great! Pleased you both had a great day and pleased your wife found it ok. Great stuff. Thanks for letting me know. Take Care. Cheers. Eddie.
We walked under the viaduct and around the bottom of the valley this year. First time in the Dales. This will be a planned challenge for spring 2022. Thanks for the video. Most useful to get an appreciation of what is in store.
Hi Derek, the walk up to Whernside is really good with great views. It is a walk we would definitely do again. I am sure you will have a great day when you tackle this next spring. Thanks for watching & commenting, it is appreciated. Take care. Cheers. Eddie.
Lovely video Eddie! It was nice to see the views we missed when Sue and I walked it in the mist and rain. All the best, David 👍
Thanks David, I remember watching your video from Whernside. The weather was a bit different for Susan and yourself! Thanks for watching & commenting, it is appreciated. Cheers. Eddie.
Did this last year. It was a pea souper when I went. Once down the other side the sun came out. 2nd of the 3 peaks for me
Hi Julje, that it is often the case, that it clears up on the way down! It is a cracking walk. Hats off to you and anyone else doing the 3 peaks together, that is some achievement. Thanks for watching & commenting, it is appreciated. Take care. Cheers. Eddie.
Hi Eddie, a great hike and filming up Whernside, another great day of weather for you! We did the Yorkshire three Peaks a few years back now and remember Whernside being the nicest of the three! The entire day was challenging though! Thanks for sharing, cheers, Simon👍
Hi Simon. Thanks. We really enjoyed this walk. Great weather & great views. Congrats to you both for doing the Yorkshire 3 Peaks together, we were shattered after doing the one! Thanks for watching & commenting, it is appreciated. Take care. Cheers. Eddie
Planning on doing this exact route in January, great to see the route visually before attempting.......Thank you 👍
Hi Ian, thanks, it is a great walk and one we would definitely do again. Thanks for watching & commenting, it is appreciated. Cheers. Eddie.
Awesome place lots of greens and the structure so majestic thanks for the tour
Thank you. This was a great walk in great weather. Thanks for watching & commenting, it is appreciated. Cheers. Eddie.
The only one of the 3 Peaks I have ever done, I did it about 12 years ago with the Tiffin Trotters with the intention of it being a training walk for the 3 Peaks, which they did the week after but I came down with a heavy cold and missed out. You got your normal fantastic weather and to be honest, I do not remember that waterfall but it did look great. Fantastic views from the summit indeed and what a place for a lunch stop. Watching this makes me want to make a return visit, great views and a great walk, cheers Alan
Thanks Alan, This was a really nice walk with nice weather & views! Clear paths all the way up, a bit steep coming down the other side. The waterfall can be seen from the path, but it is worth a small detour to get up close to it. I don't know how anyone can do the 3 Peaks together, one is enough for me, ha! Thanks for watching & commenting Alan, it is appreciated. Take care. Cheers. Eddie.
What a great day you guys had! Looked like perfect weather. Thanks for giving us a good look around.
Thanks Del. We had a great day with great weather and great views. We really enjoyed the walk. Thanks for watching & commenting, it is appreciated. Cheers. Eddie.
Another amazing video, Eddie, and what a day you got. I loved the viaduct, such an incredible construction. I didn't realise that the peaks were so high in the dales. Great to see good clear paths and stiles, and so much space. Videos like this help and inspire people like me to keep getting outdoors and to escape the current negativity that's all around us. Regards, Ashley
Thanks Ashley for the kind comments. The viaduct was an impressive sight to see. This was a really good walk with good paths virtually all the way and a walk we would definitely do again. The weather and the views were great. Hope you and Andrea are keeping well and looking forward to seeing more of your videos. Thanks for watching & commenting, it is appreciated. Take care. Cheers. Eddie.
@@eddiecaisley5746 We might get a local walk in tomorrow. We are both fine, keeping within all the new guidelines etc and trying to stay positive and purposeful. I've done 2 10k runs this week, gardening, and tried to keep outdoors. You have your guitar!! Alan gave you a great plug in his video yesterday!! Regards, Ashley
@@ashleyjarnold Yes, I was really pleased with Alan mentioning me in his latest video. 2 x 10k, that is good going! I have bought a new guitar & amp recently to add to my collection,ha! Take care.
@@eddiecaisley5746 Maybe you'll sing in the next video!!
Another beautifully put together video. The stills and the beautiful music add so much. Thank you! Lovely to see you both out again - I'll bet you've never been so glad that you live within reach of this remote peace and beauty. Very best wishes from the edge of the Peak District.
Hi Elizabeth, good to hear from you. Hope you are well and coping through these difficult times? Thank you for the kind comments, we both enjoyed this walk, great weather and great views. Yes, I agree with you, we feel lucky to live within driving distance of the Yorkshire Dales & The Lake District and it is good just to get away from all the doom and gloom at the moment! Thanks again for watching & commenting, it is appreciated. Take Care & Best Wishes. Eddie.

Great video Eddie, I do love the music too....views are breathtaking, I need to plan this one in 😉
Hi Linda, thanks for the kind comments. This is a really nice walk, we had a great day with great weather and really good views. Definitely worth doing. I find getting the music right is one of the most difficult parts in doing the videos, for me it has to suit the views & scenery etc. Thanks again for watching & commenting, it is appreciated. Take care. Cheers. Eddie.
Great to see you both out! The viaduct is an amazing structure and sits beautifully in the landscape. Whernside looks impressive from all angles and certainly delivers in the views department, another great hike Eddie 👍👍👍
Thanks Anthony. We both enjoyed the day, great weather & great views. You are right about the Viaduct, it is an impressive sight. Thanks for watching & commenting, it is appreciated. Hope you are well. Cheers. Eddie.

classic walk...the old trig pillar has seen better days.
Yes, it is a really nice walk. I agree about the trig pillar, it definitely has seen better days. Thanks for watching & commenting, it is appreciated. Cheers. Eddie.
Canny day for it. I gave you a wave from Pen y ghent 😉
Yes, it was a cracking day. Thought I saw someone waving, ha! Thanks for watching & commenting Stephen, it is appreciated. Cheers. Eddie.
@@eddiecaisley5746 is there a Grey Mares tail vid coming soon 🤔🤞
@@stephenrobinson7197 Hi Stephen, yes, busy working on it now. We had a cracking couple of days in Southern Scotland and want to do more up there.
Brill! 👍🏼
Thank you, it was a great day with superb weather and great views. Thanks for watching & commenting, it is appreciated. Cheers. Eddie.
Hi, how long did it take? I'm slow and steady but get there in the end.
Hi Sara, I would say you could get this walk done in around 4 to 5 hours going at a steady pace. It is hard for me to judge a time as it takes a lot longer for us to do the walks due to the filming and taking photos etc. I prefer to take my time, take it all in and admire the views! Thanks for watching & commenting, it is appreciated. We are looking forward to getting back out on the hills again soon! Take care. Cheers. Eddie.
Lovely video. The way you came down - does it eventually lead you to a campsite?
Thanks James. It was a really nice walk. I can't remember seeing a campsite on the way down, but we could have easily walked passed one without noticing. I know there is a camp site at nearby Horton in Ribblesdale on the way down from Pen-y-Ghent. Thanks for watching & for the kind comments, it is appreciated. Cheers. Eddie.
