Got lost up there in very very bad weather after climbing that waterfall in torrential rain and fog. Visibility less than a meter. Luckily we had a compass and a map. Gut was telling me to go one way, compass the other. Had to trust the compass which luckily that was right thing to do. After walking for ages still not seeing anything and being cold, wet and exhausted we wedged in between 2 rocks around 13:30 and unpacked the British Army stoves, pulled a tarp over us and made a chilli from corned beef and veg and spices to warm us up. Dangerous but fun and definitely memorable.

That was quite a hike, Patrick. I've yet to hike to the Trinicles, but I've been up to Ashway Moss and along Dovestones. Certainly a beautiful hike. But I was short on time, so I got off before Chew. Another fantastic hike, Patrick. Thanks for sharing.

Another walk I deliberately saved for a long summers day Chris, and possibly my favourite one this year to film. The walk up to the Trinnacle is certainly worth it if you're ever up that way again. Thanks Chris for your comments and for taking the time to watch, always appreciated 👍

Who needs to travel when we have your beautiful videos. That said I have gone to some of the places you shown and intend to do a few more places, excluding the Trinnacle rock. One can only view and be in awe of God's Creation.

Thanks Claire. There is a path marked up Birchen Clough on the OS map, but when you're actually there it's not obvious, so you literally have to scramble over the rocks. The walk across the top was awesome. Glad you enjoyed it Claire, thanks for watching 👍

What majestic views. British countryside at its best. That was some rocky terrain you mastered to get to the trinnacle. As for jumping from one to the other, you wouldn't get me on even one of them. You were very brave getting up there and deserve a medal but a pat on the back should suffice. Loads of reservoirs up there but I've always liked Dovestone the best. I think that small home could have been for shooting parties. If it was an actual home, then it puts that old hovis advert to shame, if you walked for a loaf of bread. Excellent as always and great to see the amount of views this has received already. Cheers Patrick 😁

Cheers Kelly. Yes this was certainly one of the more challenging walks I've filmed. Climbing up onto the Trinnacle wasn't too bad actually, and it's not really as high as it might look. I certainly wouldn't jump from one to the other though! I think I like Dovestone Reservoir best too and I agree with you about the small home. Long way to walk for a loaf of bread 😁 I'm actually really astonished how quickly I've got so many views on this one, but it's lovely of course. Thanks Kelly as always for watching and commenting 👍

You were smiling all the way up that Clough Patrick. I don't blame you - it was spectacular-beautiful. Maan, it was gnarly and full of vistas today as well as climbs up pinnacles. I loved that - kind of chuckled at your joy. I favor the old building being a shooting lodge for the estate of the day. They had a few of them. This walk was full of wonders - Chew valley was and is awesome. Well, a fantastic loop walk. One of your best this year. Mark

I sure was smiling Mark, Birchen Clough was a great scramble, the kind of walk I reckon you'd really enjoy. Yeah I had to get up the Trinnacle, one of those "must-do" things on the walk. Lots of vistas indeed on this one, I enjoyed it more perhaps as this was my first time on this walk. I bet you're right about the old building, I can see that being a shooting lodge too. Glad you enjoyed Chew Valley, it was an awesome one through which to descend to Dovestone Reservoir. Thanks Mark, it was a favourite of mine this year to film too. All the best down there 👍

@@solitaryrambler Yeah, I can imagine the clough Patrick - lots of impressive vibes as their were on the Trinnacle. Well done! Yeah, a lot of hunting on the old estates - some are even Bothies now. With Chew valley and the views I knew this was a good one.

You had a lovely day for seeing the landscape at its best. It's my local area, but we tended to reserve local walking and climbing for the shorter days of winter, so rarely saw it at its best. Good snowy days in winter though, and that had a beauty all of its own, and its challenges. Very enjoyable to see it all again. You must have passed a rock known as the dove stone, which, when viewed on the skyline from below, bears a resemblance to a dove, and presumably gives its name to Dovestones.

Morning Michael, it was wonderful shooting this walk. Like my other recent walks, I saved this for a long summer day as I knew it was a longer one and more challenging in places. I remember passing Dove Stone Rocks marked on the OS map, but I definitely missed seeing a rock resembling a dove. Thanks as always for watching 👍

I only know of it because it was pointed out to me by two of my walking friends who lived in the row of stone houses nearby when they were children. I was somewhere near the roofless stone hut.@@solitaryrambler

Patrick, exceptional scenic walk, great picture on top of rock formation, how is your knees after jagged rock climb, great malvern walk was fantastic, took a sip at the St Anne well, your film help out, they had their marathon run through the hills, lots tired limping runners, you should of had your fishing tackle with you , film could of ended w😅with you cooking fish over a camp fire. As a photographer, The Trinnacle and the associated reservoirs have been on my list for a number of years, but like you it has been just that too far to travel. Your excellent video has now inspired me to make the effort. Keep up the good work. Incidently, the spelling on the OS map is Dove Stone. 👍

Actually Patrick, you were also an inspiration a while back when I did Parkhouse Hill and Chrome Hill...I had a pint in Longnor afterwards, and was told it's pronounced "Chroome" Hill...that was me told! Anyway, your videos are always appreciated...do keep them coming!

It's been too long since I went to Chew reservoir, I must go again. It looks as if it's miles from anywhere but it isn't really.
I did a lot of walking between Stalybridge and Greenfield both winter and summer and hardly saw any other people. Several deep steep valleys cut in the peat by water to cross, quite hard to do. I'd say about 10 to fifteen feet deep.

Yet another stunning walk Patrick and professional video., You were very lucky with the weather. Dove Stone is probably best visited midweek (If possible) as it always gets very busy at weekends and you can struggle to find a place to park. Do NOT try to park on the main road up from the main entrance as the traffic wardens have a field day dishing out tickets.

The Bins Green car park useful to know about, instead of Dovestones car park. So familiar places walked by ourselves. I was intrigued to see that scramble up Ravenstones/Birchen Clough having avoided it myself. Excellent filming up. Bet you did some running about between camera positions. Held my breath whether or not you would climb up the Trinnacle, What an achievement. I know Michael has years ago. I couldn't do it!! (I've notice two spellings of Dovestones too!) Your best film yet and loved the music. Really enjoyed this Patrick.

Thank you so much for all your kind words Shanita, always appreciated. I was very pleased with this film too, so I'm glad you really enjoyed this one. There was quite a bit of running about between camera positions, but again, I chose to shoot this on a long summers day in order to give myself plenty of time. I had to climb the Trinnacle whilst I was there, and to be fair it wasn't as difficult as I thought. The filming of the scramble up Birchen Clough was the hardest bit actually, but still very enjoyable. Thanks again Shanita for all your support. Have a great week 👍
