Yorkshire Dales Country Walk Clapham to Ingleborough Cave and Gaping Gill round

- Our video guided walk is in the Yorkshire Dales. We start in Clapham and follow the Trail And Cave path on the Ingleborough Estate Nature Trail. We take a tour of Ingleborough Cave then continue on to scramble up Trow Gill and on to Gaping Gill. We return to Clapham on Long Lane (Track).This is a moderate walk on tarmac minor road, good gravel, stony and grass paths and tracks. There some steep inclines and declines.
Elevation: approx lowest point 165m(514.4ft) approx highest point 406.2m (1332.7ft) approx total ascent 317.7m (1042.3ft).
Approx 5.9 miles allow 3 hours using OS Explorer Map OL2, Yorkshire Dales Southern & Western areas.
Start point: Clapham car park.

Did this walk in the 70s with my children fond memories thank you for taking me there again as my knee couldn't do it now,but as I am in Yorkshire will do shorter walks at Ilkley Great movies.

Too many happy memories of camping in Clapham as I was growing up. We camped in a field to the left of the main road with Clapham village on the right. There was a lady who had a Morris Minor in her garage and she had so many ducks. Camped at Clapham twice a year for years and would trek up towards the cave every morning to cook our breakfast while sitting on the side of the hill. As children and teenagers we loved to do this and then would either wander further, explore the caves or trek back down to our tent and spend time looking into the tiny stream which runs alongside the main road. Thank you for this as I now am unable to visit as I live in Dorset and cannot get up to my Yorkshire X
Hi Irene, we had a great day filming at Clapham and there are still plenty of ducks. When we finished filming at 6pm, it was a nice hot day, we went to the pub for a drink and decided to ask if they had a room for the night. The landlord let us stay in one of his best rooms at a discounted price. We sat outside and ate our evening meal overlooking the stream and watching all the tiny birds flying around, beautiful. What a beautiful well made video your enthusiasm is infectious i visited this area in 2014 having lived in Yorkshire all my life i had intended to take my mother on my next visit but sadly she passed away a short time later

i went to ingleborough hall a couple weeks ago on a school residental we went gorge scrambling caving and to that open cave it all was really cool aswell we all walked ingleborough I hope to go back soon

Hi Sikander thank you. We only walk slowly ourselves so we can enjoy it more. When you get nearly to the top of the waterfalls at Ingleton there is a cafe for a cup of tea and a rest. History Lesson. On the 25th March 2011 an aircraft Cessna 152 G-BJKY of Westair was being used for a night flying lesson from Blackpool Airport with a student and instructor onboard when it flew into the south eastern side of Ingleborough. The two men were able to contact the emergency services who located the crash site with a few hours and took them to hospital in Lancaster. Clear impact marks still reside on the side on the mountain showing the crash site today.
