  • JetBlue recently announced they’d transform US Business Class with a complete redesign of the Mint Cabin on their A321LR to prepare for beginning their service to London in Summer 2021.
In advance of JetBlueMint service to London, the airline began serving the JFK - LAX route with the new Mint service and I was lucky enough to get onboard!
In this JetBlue Mint Studio Review, you’ll be able to judge for yourself what you think of the JetBlue Mint Studio on this A321LR.
In this JetBlue Mint Studio Review, you’ll see how JetBlue redesigned the cabin to create the largest business class seat on a US Carrier, which they call the Mint Studio. You’ll also check out JetBlue’s innovative Mint food. You’ll even see the largest built-in inflight entertainment screen in the US…it’s a whopping 22 inches!
You’ll also see how much JetBlue’s Mint Studio costs.
Is this First Class on a low cost carrier? You be the judge after this JetBlue Mint Studio Review!

I would think Jet Blue is going to have to get into some kind of lounge game, possibly contract it out. After flying to London, especially if your working, an arrivals lounge or some sort of access to shower facilities is key.

im not sure if that is necessary, anyone who would fly mint almost certainly has lounge access from premium credit cards. i'd rather spend time in the excellent centurion lounge and have jet blue lower cost on my seat in the sky.

The camera is for the front crew to monitor the whole cabin when they sit in their jumpseat while taxiing, taking off and landing in case someone gets up during takeoff or an emergency happens during those flight phases. That’s because of the design preventing jetblue to have a small window installed in the front.

The camera is there to allow for the flight attendant/s to have full view of the cabin during landing and take off to ensure cabin is secured and customers are seated during critical phases of flight etc. The view to the cabin is obstructed on this particularly layout because of the Mint Studio, unlike other layout in the fleet.

    • @ronik24
      @ronik24 2 года назад +9

That's not easy, because ticket prices even for the same flights vary hugely due to other circumstances like time of purchase or connections or other variables.
But you can always take the Jeb score and divide it by the prices you get, this would yield the results to judge your current options. :-)

I’m a lot older than you, so I can brag that I actually used the old TWA terminal (which was considered ultra modern at the time) on many occasions. I flew on the original 747-131s to places like Los Angeles, Paris, Tel Aviv. Now I’m just an old fart sitting in the porch!

I worked for Jetblue almost 15 years. The camera is one of 4 cameras on board every aircraft, it allows the Pilots to keep an eye on what's going on in the cabin (Live feed to a small screen in the flight deck) in the event there is an issue that arises. This was implemented shortly after 9/11 and continues today.

Virgin Atlantic, British Airways, United, American, Delta, and JetBlue are the airlines that fly from JFK/EWR to LHR/LGW. I think that United, Delta, and JetBlue would be top 3 as they each have some of the best seats and bedding. I know that BA and VA are adding new seats on their A350-1000s but I don’t think that they fly their A350-1000s between NYC and London.

@@scotttild JetBlue will have to charge higher fares for a variety of reasons. Mostly because international travel fees and Heathrow airports high expenses. It isn’t economical to use a Heathrow slot on an A321 as it doesn’t bring in enough passengers when United primarily flys 777s and 767s into Heathrow, Delta flys A330s, and American flys 777s and 787s. The A321 is about half the size of some of those planes which will drive costs up a lot.

JetBlue is one of my favorite airlines for traveling in economy. I haven't flown Mint yet, but hopefully in the future I will. The seats in economy are some of the comfiest in my opinion especially since I have a bad back and a misaligned hip. The leg room is optimal. The snacks and drinks are some of the best as they have quite a bit of variety that other airlines don't have. Their terminal at Long Beach is so unique, I love how open the whole airport there is. I love seeing the plane names and the tail colors. I flew on "Big Blue People Seater" and "Blue Bayou". The crews are amazing and so nice. I wish they flew to more destinations out of my home airport Seattle though, but despite that JetBlue is amazing and one of the best airlines in the US for domestic flights, hoping to try them out on a international flight as well.

From one airplane geek to another, thank you for reviewing this. I love JetBlue and have thoroughly enjoyed the Mint experience, but have a few issues. I agree with the clubroom issue. Why, at least at the JFK and LAX hubs, would they not have a clubroom? For the Mint routes I'd say they must have a dedicated check-in to complete the experience. The last time I flew Mint (From Boston to Palm Springs on 12/20/21, the suite I booked was incredible. Tiny (first world) issues might be with the use of space. In your studio, for example, it seems like a waste of space. Why not deviate that front of plane space to a larger bathroom, for example? At any rate, by far my favorite airline that keeps getting better and better. Can't wait to hop across the pond on the new Neo!

Such a different offering than the competitors. I'd need to work out the pricing and availability to truly see if it would be worthwhile. The suits look good too, I'll look forward to your review on those. Well, Jeb another fine and impartial review. I struggle to see why you don't have 10x the subscribers, considering some other reviewers aren't as unbiased and honest as you. ;) all the best.

Strikes me this Studio Arrangement is a lot like Sleeper Berths on Railroads like Amtrak here in the US! Very comfy 🥰 indeed!

I love that you guys ran into each other! You have to check out the new West Gates at TBIT! I'm there with Volaris and Viva. (Thinking an airport revealed special?) Much love from a airplane MX

Great vlog as always! Cool that you and Sam met at LAX. I have not flown Jet Blue. Yet. It is a bit of hazzel for me to travel at the moment. With medicines and a CPAP and Cerebral Palsy as the iceing on the cake… sigh. 25 yrs a go flew a lot and I have loved airplanes and airlines since my father started working for BU back in 1978. Back then it was a sea of airplanes to choose from. I wanted to fly the oldest airplanes possible. Once a flew a F-28 from N.Y. to PIT with USAir.(94) In aug 86 I flew a CV-580 NW former Republic/Great lakes or Central from DTW to CMX. The aircraft was from the early 50s. There are a vlog on YT about the last flight of those aircraft from feb 87. I will post the link if I find it.

I happened across this video after previously seeing photos on facebook. I don’t like the sideways arrangement nor do I like single aisle planes, especially for transcon flights. But for what its worth, it seems to be a nice product and a step up for the carrier. Ive noticed they have a partnership with AA now and their flights fill in the gaps from various airports for transcon. This was a nice video and seemed to cover all the bases.

My one hope for the jetblue transatlantic flights is that they cooperate with BA and potentially have codesharing on short haul European routes out of Heathrow and Gatwick. I say this as a resident of a secondary UK city (Edinburgh) that it would be extremely beneficial to those of us living outside of London who can then truly take advantage of jetblue's superior prices

I think Jetblue is innovative in designing the Mint Suite for select transcon and trans Atlantic flights. It's a good start. However, I am a little concerned about their ability to compete with the legacy carriers in the U.S. and the big boys in the international space on similar routes (Qatar Airways, Turkish, Air France, etc).
P.S.- the mountains in Pueblo, Colorado look awesome on your final approach.

I seemed to have missed the cost of the mint cabin in comparison to the others in business class. also, what's the difference between mint and coach. great review!!

@@get2dachoppa249 I would recommend it but you have to watch out with Tudor. I have the BB GMT and I have bigger wrists but I could not get a perfect fit with any combination of links and micro adjust, ended up sending the watch to a watchmaker to drill extra micro adjust holes in the clasp so it would fit right. I recommend going to an ad and trying the watch on and insisting they remove some links for you to get a real life feel for it!

Jeb Denver Airport just added onto some of their terminals. You should take a look. They even have a patio with some firepits outside overlooking some runways. Very nice
