Awesome! This is a childhood favorite of mine and I was pretty convinced that it couldn't be beaten by a human on an NES. Then again it still might be impossible with the NES controller. The Arkanoid Controller helps tremendously I see! Great work!

If you use the NES controller, you can only move at a fixed speed. However, the original game was packaged with a paddle controller which allows you to move quickly back and forth. I'm convinced you cannot beat the game with the NES controller since the balls speed up too fast in the later stages.

How can you move so fast at times? I don't recall being able to do that in the NES
