Just what I needed tonight. Oct 25 2023 Paradise with Chris. Thank you for soothing my spirit tonight. It’s been a looooong journey. I care for mom (77) who’s at stage 4 Alzheimer’s, my brother 100% disabled veteran, my nieces; a 4 yr old autistic nonverbal full spectrum little girl and her 6 yr old sister who’s ADHD, PTSD, ODD and abandonment issues. Yes, I care for all four under the same roof. This song made my spirit drift into paradise and out of the stress and demands while the song played. I REALLY needed that. 😢Thank you again and again Chris 🙏🏼🌺🌼🌸💜
Bless you beautiful Sister. So sorry and sad to hear about this. PS. Stay away from big Pharma Poisons. It has caused this mess and continues to. The truth will be coming out . Hang in there Dear.
More power, to u, girl, I assume. U go girl, remember how mom fixed a small cut with a band aid and a cookie. I am just assuming, U r a lady, so sorry if I am wrong. 😊😊😊😊😊😊
@@johnnyraider yes I remember. Yes I am a woman who’s a mother of two boys who are now grown men. Birth was hell. I also remember that. Lol Blessings for you and your family
I met my husband at a club December of 85. He asked me to dance a slow song and I had just met him ...I said no... I wasn't letting a stranger that close. But we continue to talk and dance 🎶 Later that evening we danced to Sailing... ❤ 12/13/85 we met. Married June 7 1986...🥰 Soon to be 38 years🎉
Wow. Amazing story. Thanks for sharing. Unfortunately, those stories are from a bygone era. Now, social media, apps, and feminism have destroyed dating.
I was pretty young when this song came out. It was a pretty bad time of life, and this song was a huge blessing. Still is today. Thank you for sharing this.
I’m so sorry 🙏❤️. I was 6 y/o when this song came out. I’ve long since lost my parents. I was raised in the most loving home imaginable. I feel guilty at times because I’ll catch myself wondering why some people have different motivations and emotional responses to stimuli that I find peace in. I was so blessed to be born from two parents who would have never judged me or castigated me for being who I am or believing what I believe. I am a straight woman. But had I been born gay or transgender my parents would have loved me and supported me 100%. Over time I’ve developed an absolute disgust for most parents. My childhood was the exception to the apparent rule. Most parents have children not for the sake of the child but to serve as a proxy for their own identity. The problem is that no two individuals interpret the world around them the same. So if you are a little boy who is a gentle creative type and your father is an Andrew Tate faux masculine type, you’re fvcked. The dad will try to destroy the very nature of his son by forcing him to fight, repress his emotions and possibly abuse women. Anyway, I am glad this song brings you peace. I hope your lives were fruitful and positive after the gulag of childhood under abusive parents. I wish you peace and heeling. 🙏❤️
@@originalfallinggirl Thanks for your comment, very insightful about parenting. The word for it is narcissism, it is the spiritual scourge of humanity. If you understand the complexities of narcissism, the world makes a whole lot more sense.
Beautiful comment, I didn't ever get much love and was jealous of kids that had it. I realize now that I just wanted what they had. Bless you.@@originalfallinggirl
What a great time in America, the 1980s. Christopher Cross was a legend. Love this little audience. You don't see these types of performances anymore. James Taylor had some little audience performances in the 1970s too.
My brother bought this cassette and a boom box for my sister when she was in a coma in the hospital after a horse accident. It took her 3 months to come out of it but she finally did. This was very therapeutic to her. She also loved the song "Ride like the wind".
This song was released about the time my parents split up when I was about 7 and I moved with my Mom to California. I remember staring out at the ocean watching people sailing and hearing this song wishing I could sail back to when everything was more normal...it gave me some hope that someday everything would be ok again. When I finally got a chance to actually go sailing I didn't like it all that much. lol Thank you so much for this song and this video!
I was born in 1982 but I was brought up with all these gold songs. when I come across these songs it brings a wave of relaxations and relief. but I don't know why I feel sad at the same time that I can't rewind the clock and go back to those days when life use to be simpler. I feel a sense of love but a little heartbreak at the same time
Is this even real? A voice capable of touching us so softly inside, so pure and beautiful. Chris, God gave you one of the most beautiful voices on the planet ❤🇧🇷
i remember liking this in '82 and today, 40 yrs later, it brings memories of where i was, what i was up to on the particular date and time when i heard the song. same for other songs like 'i cant tell you why' by the eagles. it just sticks to your memory like freshly cut grass and you're with someone you really cared about.. half a century ago. what happens to these memories when we're gone???
much to say about this -- but besides the usual acolodes to Chris's voice and talents, i must say the piano arrangements and the background accompaniments are perfect!
One of many great song of our time. I can see young look a likes in the audience behind Chris young Hilary Ckinton, young Beth Midler, young Goldie Hawn sitting next to Beth. I would have loved to be situng in that audience ❤
On vacation travelling through Washington State during the same week Mt. St. Helens blew up on our way to Vancouver, CA. Time in space embedded in my memory because of this masterpiece.
...i was a little kid listening to this on the radio- it always made me feel so calm and I really learned to appreciate the honesty and passion in World Class Performers like Christopher Cross Sailing is a TIMELESS CLASSIC! I used to live on a little sailboat with my Dad in Redondo Beach in King Harbor Marina . Brings back so many precsious memories. Thank You for making this World a better place, Christopher.
Esta música marcou muito minha vida!!!! Onde as intensas dificuldades se dissipavam por alguns momentos dando espaço para esta magnífica melodia, me fazendo sonhar com a possibilidade de um novo caminho. Enebriante esta canção! 😊😊😊😊😊
Christopher and his songs have always made me happy! I'm In Texas too!! Sailing is my favorite song since I've grown up. I would love to see you someday!
This song always makes me cry. Is this kind of purity and gentleness still alive in our collective souls? It seems music of the past is where we must go to hear it expressed so tenderly🌹

One of the most iconic songs of all time.
Agreed
If you saw Chris as a stranger walking down a city street you would never imagine he had a singling voice like that.
No kidding. I would figure he’s a local bartender or something
Ya, looks have nothing to do with a person’s voice.

@@jk-califkid5017 the sad truth.
This song always brings tears to my eyes.
A lovely story indeed 😊
Now this is what you call a MUSICIAN people! He doesn't even have to to try, he just extrudes complete perfection.
He's lip-sincing.
He was lipsyncing here
One of those true classic songs that forever stand the test of Time! As beautiful today as it was back then.
The 80's were such a great time ... This song brings back some very special memories about a long lost love from the UK.
what happened to music these days? this is so ridiculously great
How lucky to be one in the audience that day.
I was pretty young when this song came out. It was a pretty bad time of life, and this song was a huge blessing. Still is today. Thank you for sharing this.
The great music of the 80s also buffered my abusive childhood. It let me know that love and tenderness existed, even if it wasnt from my own family.

By far and away one of the most beautiful songs ever written. I never tire of it.
There’s something pure about this song and the way it’s performed.
It's simple and not over produced...uncomplicated and beautiful.
One of several perfect examples of what is missing in the world today. Mainstream music that projects a tone of love is one.
*Sailing and this song are such lovely metaphors for life's journey. Wherever I am and whenever I hear this song I am Sailing. ⛵💗*
If you think this song is great, you should listen to his song called “Sailing”.
Yes it dose ✨️✨️✨️✨️
One of the best songs I've ever heard! 🎶🎶🎶
Arthurs theme was another great track of his.
How do you find the joy of innocence again?
I think the wind has to be right
Not only a great singer, but an underrated guitarist as well.
Fine soloist.

Ride like the Wind is a tremendous song. And so glad your sister got better.
Little known fact but Cross wrote "Ride like the wind" while tripping acid and driving across Texas
I'm Brazilian and I love this song
One of those few songs that will have the same effect no matter how old you become the song is timeless.
Still singing beautiful at 73. Raw talent at it's purest.😊

The sound of a piano will cleanse my heart. Thank you so much, Christopher🎵🌹💐🌹🎹🎤👍👏👏👏
So adorable. He looks like a linebacker from the high school football team and the THAT comes out of him! Beautiful surprises.
Then you should see Michael Sembello with Maniac.
Hard to be believe a guy of his size created something so pure for the world to get lost in

I was born 1986 this song is 6 years older than me.😊 Why America stops making this kind of Music ?
because America is getting stupid with techno music and goat worship
The first time I heard this song I could not believe how beautiful it was. Once in a lifetime song. Such a beautiful soul he must have.
To be known for one song that absolutely no one on earth can say is not absolutely perfect. Nostalgic beauty.
Since 1980 when he Rode Like The Wind I always love his music..and always will I be listening to him..
Is this even real?
A voice capable of touching us so softly inside, so pure and beautiful. Chris, God gave you one of the most beautiful voices on the planet ❤🇧🇷
No he's an AI in a simulation in your computer generated brain😮

Among the most beautiful songs ever. Christopher Cross is so amazing ❤
It was a song that captured his feelings for a father figure that was dear to him...
Born in the 60s watching top of the pops on BBC so many memories coming to my final years as a hard worker and in pain this takes it away.
De todas os videos de Sailing no RUclips, este é um dos melhores. Essa música é marcante.
His music is still played on the stations in my area. Very pleasant.
"All caught up in the reverie...every word is a symphony"

Such a classic. Takes me to a simple place an time
so awkward but so cool...always imagine how many super talented kids out there but just too shy or scared to show their talent
