Looking at those scenes of life in America in the early 1980s brings a tear to my eyes. Wishing we still had those simpler times again. God it was awesome flaws and all. Just so much more positive and just a great vibe. I'm so glad I have those memories of being a kid and teen then. Thanks Christopher Cross for this amazing song and your voice. You are a blessing to the ears
We never had the feeling of glamour and proportions that came from the US. Not a criticism. But in the UK I fondly remember that same feeling. Starsky & hutch, magnum, hart 2 hart my fave shows though 😀 ❤
I miss the 70's and 80"s. Gosh those were wonderful times. Yes, there were some flaws perhaps not perfect but they were easily the best times of my life.
@@Thomasp671 As we navigate this 2020s world we realize it more and more that the years before social media and blazing technology took over how great we had it
Sitting in my back yard listening to this song. I am 64 years of age. And it reminds me of the things I never said to that special someine. He is no longer with us. Memories are forever
I'm 50 and this was one of my favorite songs then and still is today. Do you remember "Solid Gold" with Dionne Warwick? You know, you have to admit, we come from the best 10 years of our lives, the 1980s.👍
Just beautiful. A snapshot in time of an American city. People just living their lives, as their lives were then. The children in the video have now become adults. The adults in the video have either grown old or passed away. Nobody’s life is unchanged by time. I remember “Never Be The Same” as one of my favorite songs of the early 1980’s. I never thought that someday I’d hear the song played along with scenes from the 1980’s and feel so emotional over it.
Almost Nothing is more 80s than this... Also, no song has ever needed the subtitles as much as this one. I love that this is Chris's travel vlog of the height of his fame.
Wonderful to see Nicolette Larson singing by Chris' side. I loved her voice and her music too. Valerie Carter added some serious soulfulness to his songs as well. Sweet memories.
A true voice surrounded by an harmonious and positively beautiful orchestration. Mixed and mastered for the smoother listening experience, all in an optimistic life. Time machine.
Thanks for all the great songs Chris . Sailing is my favorite . Wish the world was still lost in those good old days free and happy without all the tech distractions etc . God bless you all .
His song is so true, I lost my husband just over a year ago and Christopher's words in this song are so touching and real and true!!! That's the way i feel. 😪😪
My husbands picture is attached to this comment. I lost him almost a year ago. He was a DJ in our town in the 70’s. We both loved the music so. I feel same as you
This is my absolute favorite song of yours, Christopher ❤️❤️❤️ I do love all of them though ❤❤ Thank you so very much for being who you are and bringing so much joy and love to me through your music!!! I love your awesome, soothing and sweet voice ❤❤ I love you Christopher Cross ❤❤❤
Great to see this video!! I was at that Austin concert in 1981 where Nicolette Larson joined the band on stage!! Also noticed that clip of the soundcheck at the Frank Erwin Center!!
Thank you sharing this video! My wife and I are from Austin and grew up there in the 80s. The Zilker train, Robert Mueller airport, Palmer Auditorium, Barton Springs Pool, old Lake Travis (pre development), campus, and the drum! And the music of course! I made my mom play this album all the time when I was little. Ah the nostalgia! Mom says I wore out that plastic toy horse to Ride Like the Wind.😂 I miss this Austin!
Thank you Chris...I am born and raised here in Austin...since 1971...Love your music...My favorite song that you wrote is Sailing and Ride like The Wind, but I love them all...I saw you on Rick Beato's RUclips Channel...I knew about you before that, but I was thrilled to see you play Sailing...and how you wrote it...Man...I love you for having the spirit you have and sharing it with the World...I hope to meet you one day....🥰😎
I wish the 80s were back when I was a 14 year old teenager in 1980 and when Raiders of the lost ark was at the movies when I was 15 in 1981such simple a time I miss them
In the mid-80's I was 14. My church youth took a trip to Austin. I had my first girlfriend. I held her hand in the church van. What a magical time. Austin was a small, quirky state capital having around 350,000 back then. I think the metro is over 2 million now. That 1980's Austin only exists in my memory now.
And I, will never be the same without Chris. No i will never be the same without his music. Lol Love you Chris Thank you for the years of happiness with your music. Sending you blessings, love and light always. 🙏🏼🌺💋🦋🌸🌼🥹
I loved Austin! Went there in November 1977 and left in 2001. It was awesome back in the day. I lived near Zilker Park. So many friends and great memories!

@@DougMcDave because sitcoms were a Snapchat of our actual lives and the openings showed life in whatever city they were filming. I love to look at these scenes so I will never forget what America used to be and look like and feel like

Man...I was born in 1976. Exactly. I know most people view their earlier days as simpler times. However, it was very much that way. The world was more hopeful then.
