    And just because we do or don’t connect with a band doesn’t make the great or not

    • @michaelr.4878
      @michaelr.4878 5 лет назад +7

      Mick Mars is a fantastic guitar player. Sure, he doesn't do anything fancy technique-wise, but he is as solid as they come. The easiest way to put it is, Mick Mars serves the song that he is playing. Three piece band, so he had to be smart with his solos and any mid-song lead lines. As someone who has been playing guitar for 26 years and teaching lessons for 13 or 14, I can comfortably say that Mars is a very good and underrated guitar player. He didn't need to play 2 minute long solos to show how good he was. That wouldn't have worked in a 3 piece like Motley. Covering Motley songs are a lot like covering AC\DC songs. As in the sense that they sound easy to cover and it is easy to play all of the notes. But to do it properly and/or to sound like Mick, it takes a lot of skill. Saying that he is 'solid' is probably the best way to sum him up, actually. It is kind of like Phil Rudd's drumming. Take it away and the band totally changes and no one can perfect replicate it.
      ...any non-fans out there should listen to the 'Home Sweet Home' guitar solo to hear a guitar solo that serves the song perfectly. Not difficult to play..but you can sing it, it fits, it suits he song and he doesn't simply mimick or follow the vocal melody that so many ppl do with their solos.
      Mick Mars is legit.

I know I could never play it so I don't know how hard it is to play his guitar solo for Home Sweet Home but I think that's one of the coolest most memorable solos ever! I've heard very few people actually copy it note for note and sound good....so it must be fairly difficult! Thanks again....great video!

    • @michaelr.4878
      @michaelr.4878 5 лет назад +1

      Yardley Yardley - I just wrote a message about that solo, actually. The ' Home Sweet Home' solo is a perfect solo, in my opinion...in the sense that it perfectly suits and fits the song. It has multiple sections...all building and building.. He doesn't just follow the vocal melody, like so many ppl do with their solos. Instead, it is a great melodic piece of music that makes the song better. It isn't difficult to play, technique-wish. But it has a lot of feel and emotion, which is hard to replicate. I have played guitar for 26 years and while it isn't difficult to play the notes, it is hard to give it the feel that Mars does. I put it right up there with solos like David Gilmour's solo in Pink Floyd's, 'Comfortably Numb', as in it is as close to perfect as one can get with a guitar solo that perfectly fits, suits and complements a song. It is definitely my favorite Mick Mars guitar solo. You also have to remember that Motley is a 3 piece with a singer. So when playing live, there is no rhythm guitar when playing the solo. So it is definitely an effective solo in the sense that it doesn't seem like the whole band doesn't 'fall out' during a solo. (yes, I know they use backing tracks on some songs..but they aren't evident during that solo). Mick is a great player and doesn't get a fraction of the recognition he deserves.

    Love these videos. Would be super awesome if you made a video about Criss Oliva techniques from Savatage. Very underrated guitar god and his unique style is very interesting. Sucks he passed back in 1993.

    Nice & thanks for this wonderful video. But you missed one Mick Mars's guitar technique that i call is Invisible tremolo or Invisible whammy bar & this technique is their in Mötely Crüe live wire intro of 2nd verse. Mick Mars use this technique Invisible tremolo or Invisible whammy bar on this Gibson les Paul fixed bridge guitar. & you can see this Mick Mars guitar technique called Invisible tremolo or Invisible whammy bar on Live wire live in US festival 1983.

    Thus the newest twists from yours also made it sense for being the beings have restraint from the strict Metal shredding mechanics
    as though my own personal does also did not 💯% link at the Metal Shredding strict codes but under my personal inclinations I was overexposed to the Blues crude riffs

    Some of the playing on "Bastard" just blew me away. I've always loved that song, probably one of my 3 favorites from Shout.
