    Ya sliding gloves aren't designed to do the slowing down; they're designed To distribute/balance your weight off your wheels enough to turn em' sideways enough to where they're actually creating drag rather than their natural tendencie(to roll).

    I recently got into longboarding, this is one of the best tutorials ive seen. I haven't yet tried to slide cause im scared, but you guy make it seem quite easy. ive heard you should grab the front of the board, but I think this is a good place to start :) thanks guys!

      Pundisher Death He's grabbing his rail with his arm between his legs. Some people consider this unsafe. Ideally his arm should be further back, behind is back knee, but with his hand still between his feet.

  • @SERGIOCHAOTIC

    for your first slide, you're going to want to put your back hand around the outside of your back knee and then grab the inside of your front foot. This pushes your weight onto the front truck, which frees the weight on your back truck so you can slide. Plus it looks way more steezy.

  • @NeverStrikeTwice
    @NeverStrikeTwice 11 лет назад

    Start with a sitting slide (the first one) and commit yourself to it. It'll be easier to slide on wheels with a harder duro (81a+). You want to grab your board and commit your shoulders to it to completely swing the board around. When you first start your wheels won't free up. Just keep practicing, you'll get it :P

  • @Darethewizard
    @Darethewizard 11 лет назад

    believe me i have tryed that numerous times, and at very high speeds, my wheels are really grippy and every time they start to lose traction it grips up again, this makes it really good for downhill and carving. I am looking at getting a new board, at the moment i have my eyes on the landyachtz tomahawk which is practically made for slides

  • @BeauSchnapp
    @BeauSchnapp  12 лет назад

    A rule of thumb : The lower to the ground you are, the easier it will be to slid. But yes. It can be down on "just about" any board. Recommend low down board though. for first time. Plus they last and perform better for downhill.

  • @BeauSchnapp
    @BeauSchnapp  13 лет назад

    Both drop down and drop thru's, are designed with a more raceing style in mind, however they are a bit more pricey, if your short on budget. but ya they are better for slideing, and maintaining speed (with out speed wobble). you can get speed wobble, its just takes more speed to get it, in comparison to a top mount. principle is: closer to ground you are, easier it is to pull grip out the wheels for slideing.

  • @BeauSchnapp
    @BeauSchnapp  12 лет назад

    If you read some of the comments, you notice that the first slide (one handed) is acually called a stink bug, which when goin fast can make you you 180 your board. So if you learn to do that rideing switch. maybe it will pop you back?

  • @BeauSchnapp
    @BeauSchnapp  11 лет назад

    Your looseness of your trucks really depends on how fast you want to go, and how much effort you care to expend to turn your board. So I keep mine about a 6 maybe 7 out of 10. The tighter your trucks the more your board will have to slide before it can turn. But don't get ridiculous with it. You have bushing for a reason.

    @Kool2bmeNatchu 13 лет назад

    if you have wheels that are relatively meant for sliding- then like 5-10 mph to be able to do a 180. i also recommend not grabbing the middle of your board. just throw your hand up there, it makes it easier to initiate the slide. just commit and go for it. good luck bro

    @123KOAN You could look for yourself online, but basically it limits your range of motion and causes weight to be distributed oddly. It does work, but taking corners and working your way up will be much better if you either do a Coleman (hand in the air) or grab rail (same move but fold your back leg down and grab between your back foot and back knee).

    My board is a land yachtz chinook, I consider it a "less agressive" evo (also a board from land yachtz). Tip: lower to the ground you are, the easier it will be to do any slide.

  • @BeauSchnapp
    @BeauSchnapp  12 лет назад

    @wardenclyffeslate; true but just as many beginner snowboards are designed with a "flat" profile since they are easier to learn on then you graduate to more rocker, camber, or Hybrid. Lower longboards are easier to get concept, then use technique to grade self a different profile.

    drops are ok for learning freeride, just get a topmount, they will last longer, theyre more fun, and are better for freeride once you are moderately normal with sliding. A Comet Voodoo Symetrical is a good deck to start and keep riding on, get some Caliber 50 degree trucks, and some Pink Powerballs and you're good.

    well, a little idea, what i used before i got my gloves were some wrist gaurds, a tad-bit different feeling, but personally think they can work just as good. (make sure its wrist guards with think exposed plastic)

  • @hsjb111
    @hsjb111 11 лет назад

    Its not all about the board its also in the wheels, you want to stick to wheels above 78a when you first learn slide like 80a or 82a but not too high duro, the harder the wheel the easier the slide you might also want a wheel with a smaller contact patch.

  • @onlyatbenoits

    you are a good teacher

  • @BeauSchnapp
    @BeauSchnapp  12 лет назад

    @droshadow1 , No it can totally work, for goin around a corner like that, but it all depends on how fast your goin, and if you want to keep speed or not? JUst remeber the outside/inside/outside (O.I.O) rule. and fish your tail, if and when nessacary. and have a more foward agressive placement with your grounded hand. and you sould be fine.

  • @BeauSchnapp
    @BeauSchnapp  12 лет назад

    honestly i agree with you. that how I got my concusion. but these are pretty slow speeds. then. now I always have a helmet. after that head hit.

  • @NeverStrikeTwice

    also if you have some decent skateboard wheels lie'n around the house some where you could temperarly switch them on to your sector 9 board and learn to slide with those since they generally around that 85a rating. but don't stick them for too long, they'll wear pretty fast. but should be good till you get a legitamite set of wheels.

  • @BeauSchnapp
    @BeauSchnapp  12 лет назад

    with low ride> you can learn to slide easier since you closer to the ground. and a lower center of gravity makeing likelyness of what I call "the wobbles", less likely. Great for speed. standardhowever. will be a little more playful at low speeds. But can also hang with the high speed. just be more nessacary to really crank your kingpins tight (the nylon nut under the truck that squeezes the bushing makeing the ride stiffer). Depends on how intense of a rider you want to be. truthfully
