I built a halfling diviner with the Luck feat and a one level dip into sorceror for the Clockwork Soul ability. I love how the ability to strip advantage or disadvantage requires no roll; it just works. It's also amazing in that it scales off proficiency bonus as well, making a one level dip always worth considering.
Hey, just wanna say your videos are pretty well made and you are fun to listen. It's kinda weird how you don't have a crap ton of subscribers but still, keep it up
I think you missed this feature: Whenever you gain a sorcerer level, you can replace one spell you gained from this feature with another spell of the same level. The new spell must be an abjuration or a transmutation spell from the sorcerer, warlock, or wizard spell list. At 2nd level you could replace Protection from Evil and Good with Armor of Agathys if you wanted to. This gives you access to spells that you normally would never get.
Hi Eric! Thanks to your video I finally thought of a pop culture character that embodies how this subclass relates to the universe/Order, something that always helps me to get new ideas of how to flavor spells and abilities at the table. The funny thing is that I was SURE that you set it up for this character to be one of your ‘how to play this at the table’ suggestions, so then I was really surprised when you didn’t name Neo and his relation to and ability to interact with the Matrix as an example of a clockwork soul sorcerer interacting with the universe. There doesn’t have to be anything or anyone controlling the weave of reality outside of it in your game world (I think) for this example of interacting with the weave to be a useful way of thinking about flavoring your actions as a clockwork soul. Maybe Doctor Strange can be flavored as a clockwork soul sorcerer in a similar vein. Anyway, just thought I’d let you know because maybe it’s a nugget of inspiration to someone watching the video and because it really was your description of this subclass that made me think of it in this way :) also, I would love some ideas and clever tricks on creating lore (just snippets, not entire tomes) for homebrew (variants on existing) worlds, as I’m planning a campaign in the Feywild and want to add to as well as change many of the things that are as of now Feywild cannon. Thanks for all you bring!
I was having a hell of a time trying to come up with a backstory and have the character not be a spoc-like logistic/efficiency robot for a personality. Neo and his connection to the matrix is what finally clicked in my head. My character is going to be a charming charlatan who used his ability to change the order of things to his advantage in running his scams. That is until a download transmission zapped his mind with a vision of Halaster in Undermountain and now he's on his life's quest.
i guess Im asking the wrong place but does anyone know a tool to log back into an instagram account? I was stupid lost the password. I would love any help you can give me
@Zain Kendrick Thanks so much for your reply. I found the site thru google and I'm waiting for the hacking stuff atm. Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
I started a character at 6th lvl, 4 clockwork sorc, with 2 div wizard. The ritual casting, extra utility spells, and portent ability works really well with this subclass so far
So this has given me another path to what I have termed the "Arcane Battle Rager" by using dwarves as casters that excel at the use of Armor of Agathys. A convergence of Dwarven tradition and forward looking innovation. The original was just the combo of abjurer's arcane ward and AofA, but this subclass has a similar feature and has access to AofA through the clockwork spells feature, where the Abjurer needs to select the mark of warding subrace to effectively get it (meaning your not getting armor proficiency through mountain dwarf which encourages you to dip artificer).
I'm playing a Tabaxi Abberant Mind Sorcerer in a remote game. My DM seems frustrated by me changing the challenge of the encounter when I drop twinned suggestion and careful web spells to control the battlefield. He keeps targeting me after I cast the spell in hopes that I drop concentration or die. I feel his days are numbered. If he does go down I want to play another Tasha's sorcerer because the expanded spell list is just so powerful with meta magic. My backup character concept is to play a Warforged that starts for a dip in fighter to get a heavy armor, shield, defensive style and the racial AC bonus. Then go straight Clockwork Soul after that. With a starting AC of 20 and being able to bump it up to 25 with a shield spell, I feel I have better defenses against an onslaught after I lay down a control spell to take an enemy out of the fight. The sixth level ward would likely also help on survivability.
Hi, I just found wour channel and I found your videos really interesting and thoughtful, keep up the good work! That being said, I think you rely way too much on the concept or Order with this Sorcerer traits. Obviously order is one of the main motives of Mechanus but there's also the concept of Balance, which fits even better in my mind. No Advantage, no Disadvantage, no roll under 10, repair or heal what is broken or hurt... Restore balance.
My clockwork spell list ends up as this: Armor of Agathys, Absorb Elements, Aid, Levitate, Haste, Dispel Magic, Polymorph, Banishment, Animate Objects, Wall of Force. I end up changing out so many spells. Counterspell would be on the list too if I didn't take it with my regular list.
Have you considered that he could also be just extremity logical? As example, the healing spells he could be all like "no no no, this is wrong, blood should run inside you, not outside"
I have a warforged clockwork soul sorcerer who got turned into a warforged to wage everlasting war against imbalance. Spreading socialism to kingdoms- and down the line he accidentally become a Demi gif from the amount of followers. Later ascending to godhood over the domain of time.
So sorry! Ads were just turned on for this channel and I had no idea RUclips was including so many ads on the videos. I will take a look and see what's happening with it. Sorry again about that!
Found the issue and am in the process of fixing it! Thank you so much for the heads up and if you decide to give the videos another shot, I promise after today you won't get hit with that many ads in the future :) .

Yeah, and that option is way better for Clockwork Soul than Aberrant Mind because of what spells you can choose
I'm swapping Alarm for Armor of Agathys before I write "level 2" on my character sheet. It's absurdly strong with Blade Ward / Bastion of Law

I really disliked this class initially, but when I began thinking about this sorcerer as a cyborg, I suddenly liked it much more.

I want to play a clockwork soul sorcerer Thats a warforged and just dive deep into the robot trope.
I have a warforged clockwork soul sorcerer who got turned into a warforged to wage everlasting war against imbalance. Spreading socialism to kingdoms- and down the line he accidentally become a Demi gif from the amount of followers. Later ascending to godhood over the domain of time.
What a cutie
Warforged Clockwork. C3P0
If Sheldon Cooper was a sorcerer…
The Clockwork also works great as a grifter.
Your channel Has way too many ads I tried to watch this video made it to minute 13 with a dozen ads ready I will not be subscribing to your channel
