    when I was a kid my mom would keep my scalp greased with blue magic and my hair was so thick and healthy. then I got older, start listening to folks saying you don't need to grease your scalp. well guess what, as soon as I stopped, my hair stopped growing for 2 yrs and I couldn't figure out why it wasn't growing. sometimes you have to take it back to the "Old School", So as soon as I started back greasing my scalp with blue magic hair grease, My hair is back to growing really nice and thick (-:

    What's annoying is that every time I watch a hair growth RUclips you have women on here talking about how someone is mixed and that's why this and that, but if yall just shush for a minute and listen to what she was saying yall won't miss the information that's critical to you. 1. deep conditioner-that softens your hair and makes it easier to manage. (Knowing how often to deep condition is crucial though, cause my hair can only take so much since my hair is medium porosity) 2.Low manipulation-this ensures that you don't pull out your hair with complicated styles, protective styles are very beneficial in this step as well as the type of comb you use, don't ever use a thin tooth comb. Use a wide comb. 3. Take care of your body, drink water, take vitamins if you have to in order to maker up for nutrition you may lack. You literally are what you eat.

      Shakana Allen Neem oil and greenhouse method if you can’t retain moisture. Works for me. I’ll throw on a shower cap with some deep conditioner mixed with neem (to keep away mildew) and leave that wrapped up for days 😂 I have cut my hair 3 times in 3 years and I’m about to cut it again because I stupidly decided to overuse heat while it was summer and now my hair is fried 😂 like crisp bacon fried lmao. It’s just hair tho 😊

    She's onpoint about not styling hair on a daily basis, which is over-manipulation. Once the hair begins responding positively, people want to constantly touch and look at it or apply more product for even greater results. But it's actually counterproductive and can encourage damage. The hardest aspect of growing back our hair is most definitely patience. 💙

    Another tip! Those with hair that feels weak and breaks off, if your hair feels TOO soft (there is such a thing). Holler at a PROTEIN TREATMENT! You need an even balance of moisture AND PROTEIN. Some just seem to have strong hair without treatments 😭

    • @HazelGoddesss
      @HazelGoddesss  7 лет назад +36

      Taja Brown That is a good tip. I know a lot of people who use protein treatments every so often. I personally don't need them though. I've used one once lol.

    • @hellow4130
      @hellow4130 7 лет назад +13

      Hazel Goddesss That's because many of the dcs you've used have protein in them. Like some of the Shea Moisture ones, or the one from Hairfinity.

    • @HazelGoddesss
      @HazelGoddesss  7 лет назад +13

      Beautydivine this is probably a dumb question but since some of them have protein in it does it make them protein treatments? Even though many companies just name them masques or deep treatments?

    • @Stephaniealicianaturalhair
      @Stephaniealicianaturalhair 7 лет назад +2

      I agree. So true! I used to use Aubrey Organics Balancing Protein Conditioner until they changed the formula. I loved that conditioner. Now I use a Shea Moisture deep conditioner.

    • @joshie19922
      @joshie19922 7 лет назад +12

      Hazel Goddesss actually it doesn't make them treatments if it's low in the ingredients list. There are some protein (silk amino acids, hydrolized protien)that allow the hair to retain more moisture. Eg the shea moisture jbco usually makes your hair curl more which is as a result of the type of protein.

      Yes of course, your hair grows more during pregancy we retain that length and continue to take care of our hair and our hair continues growing. Not saying it's the main reason for her length or how fast it grew but it's one of the reasons.

      Sometimes genetics, but it's not how fast your hair grows it's how much hair you can retain. A lot of people either shed too much or their ends cut off. Try rice water and wild growth.

      My hair grew really fast. All I did was wash it once a month, use a deep conditioner, moisturize it, I braided it into a few braids and wore a wig. I guess the low manipulation and less exposure to the elements helped it grow alot.

    • @XxChantellXx1
      @XxChantellXx1 6 лет назад +48

      1. Wigs!!/Protective styling 2. Minimal comb usage (finger detangle) 3. Virgin hair fertiliser 4. Minimal to no heat 5. Biotin 6. Rice water hair wash, 1x a week 7. Massage 3 min daily with oil e.g Avocado 8. JBCO! 9. Trim hair every 3-4 months 10. Water hair daily/every other day 11. Make your own hair growth pomade (mine: JBCO, VHF, AVOCADO OIL, COCONUT OIL) 12. Moisturise every other day or daily with cream
      I’ve been doing this for 6 months & lordtt!! 😩😩 I wish I made this regimen years ago when I reached a growth plateau after the BC!

    Great video! Very detailed. I big chopped 2 weeks ago. Let the barber cut it into a short fade. I very big on diet. You are what you eat and your body responds accordingly. My hair is already growing after 2 weeks. I eat a lot of fruits and vegetables and drink plenty of water, green tea and apple juice. I also have a daily vitamin regimine and prenatal vitamins are among the vitamins that I take. I wash, use a hit oil treatment, deep condition and put a leave in conditioner in, once a week. And I'm old school...I use blue magic hair grease every day and jamaican black castor oil 2 nights a week. Everyone's hair grows differently due to our genetic make up but we have to experiment and find what works best for us individually.
    Your hair is gorgeous. Hoping that by my 3 year mark that my hair is as healthy as yours. Thanks for the tips.

    Applying Mayonnaise: wash hair with whatever shampoo of your choice then applying the mayo from roots to end, put a bonnet on let stay on for 10-15mins (plastic bonnet will do) and then rinse out w/Luke warm water..and then apply regular condition just to break the smell of the mayo..and any kind of mayo works fine...what mayo do is put the protein back into your hair, it changes your texture...use at least once a month or as often as you choose and research it b/c you try it a lot of older African Americans women have did this over the years

    My moisture usually stays until I am ready to wash again so I do not much throughout the week but style. Drinking a lot of water and taking natures maid vitamins not the gummies has helped me too. I don't like to use too much product or taking too much time out of my week so once a day out of the week or every 2 weeks (prolly Saturday) my regimen is:
    Short version:
    Deep treatment
    Shampoo
    Leave in conditioner/moisturizer
    Seal in oils
    Scalp
    Style
    - In Depth
    Deep treatment:
    Egg,
    Msm (can make you sensitive to alcohol),
    Castor oil,
    Coconut oil (not that much)
    Almond oil,
    I want to include Jojoba oil and argan oil once I buy it
    After my treatment (max 1-2 hours leave in) I usually shampoo with Creme of nature argan oil but now I'm trying Maui coconut milk shampoo.
    Then I don't use regular wash conditioner I come out the shower and use a leave in spray conditioner because I already conditioned and wash conditioners tend to bother the result of my deep treatment (I usually like spray conditioners/moisturizers not creamed ones):
    I used to used Creme of nature leave in spray but for some reason it stopped working for me and now the almond milk carols daughter is really good also the curls lavish moisturizer leave-in works.
    I usually seal with castor oil and almond oil then use the virgin hair fertilizer on my scalp sometimes with an oil. (If I will straighten my hair this part of them regimen doesn't exist instead I use silk elements mega silk heat protectant spray and its Ah-mazing!) and then I style.
    For my edges every other night for about 2-3 weeks, I did mix garlic, castor oil and almond oil. That worked! It does have a scent bc of the garlic. Do not put too much garlic and do not use it in the morning, throughout the night the scent goes away for me anyway.

    Thanks for video. Great tips.....i finally got a silk press and trim. Only once a year is good for me. But because I lived in Vegas 3 yrs (extreme heat) had to find ways to keep my curls/phro moisturized. Now I'm on the East Coast, lol. Yeah I move every few years. And there is way more moisture here, so I will have to see how this goes. All in all, how one takes care of their body, and environment, products etc. All play a part in one's goals... been natural/ no perm or relaxer since mid 2012.

    I always tell people who ask how it grew so fast that I did nothing because in that many years thats normal for me..even before relaxed...if you're still rocking a TWA after 2/3 years there is something else going on or thats just your natural growth span. They have to compare how it grew before to now because everyone is different and nobody can duplicate someones exact processes to know if thats what worked for them. Your hair is beautiful!!

    Your hair looks GREAT, I can't take that away from you but if my hair was naturally that curly & defined..it would be down my back too. I think 4c has to work a lot harder because we can't all do the wash & go look..but nice video.

      Avembe Nah! Not all natural hair is beautiful. 4c hair is the worst. Take it from me especially when it's thin and skrinks to like half an inch and them combing is worst. The curls are so tight your head hurts when combing. As I said natural is not always beautiful. 😠😠😠

      Sorry but that's your opinion and I can respect that but 4c hair is da bomb. There is an African chic on RUclips called WestAfricanBaby or something like that and her 4c hair is gorgeous and on point. Better than any 3c, 4a, 4b natural I've ever seen. And the buns she puts her hair in, are simply amazing! It's like 4c hair was made for beautiful coiffures!
      I think a lot of 4c's who haven't quite figured out how their hair works and what it needs feel the way you do. Plus you gotta deal with all these 3c and 4a folks out here in your face 24/7 constantly making videos and being worshipped. I can almost say without a doubt, had you been back in the 70s during what I call the "real natural hair movement" you would love your 4c hair and feel superior about it. I'm from the tail end of that era and here's a tip...go back to that old school stuff....it works better than any of this organic, sulfate free, silicone free stuff we have today in my opinion.
      I'm talking Sta Soft Fro and Wave Nouveau Moisturizing Lotion. I keep bottles of these on hand and I can't be bothered with all that defining my coils mess. Wave Nouveau Moisturizing Lotion, then I dry comb my hair, then hit it with some Sta Soft Fro spray and I look like I've been hand picked out of a vintage 1970s catalog! Did I mention how moisturizing both are??

    I get product buildup easily even though I have a high to medium density. I cleanse my scalp 3x a week and deep condition every time I cleanse. I conditioner wash my hair every day between my wash days because I find my hair is super thirsty and is the softest when I conditioner wash and finger detangle. I just cut my hair in April and again I did at the beginning of this month- it did not seem like I cut my hair at all and I'm surprised how well my hair is responding to this method. Will be making an ayurvedic hair growth oil soon!

      Anise Meena you may be getting so much build up on your scalp because it's dry. Try oiling and massaging it every day. I had the same issue not long ago until I found out that my scalp was just over producing sebum to compensate for the lack of moisture.

    • @HazelGoddesss

      Beautydivine it is included in how long I've been growing my hair. I went natural (stopped using texturizer) nov 1, 2014 but didn't big chop til 2015. Some people don't consider themselves natural until they big chop but I consider it when you stop using perms etc and grow it naturally.

    I shampoo once permonth. Co wash once permonth as well. I might only need to co wash for now. I switch from creamy leave in. To spray leave in. Spray leave in, there's so much less product build up. Also slow down on the gels and grease. They build up on the hair very fast.

    Keep up on cleanse,deep condition mostly. Protein treatments is needed. That's only a few times per year.
    Install a style that you know. Will last 3 weeks or more. Two weeks is just not enough. Wanna keep your hands outta your head. Oh and heat ... Big killer there. Dk what to expect with that.
    Especially with flat iron and hot comb.
    Both cause heat damage, no matter what. Have a whole routine and still doesn't protect. One day that routine is pointless. That's how heat damage come about.

    What conditioner do you do as a deep condition. My hair is like always dry and I have well water! I've been trying almost every product and my hair is not taking in moisture. I need advice I big chopped this January and it's been almost 7months I've been natural. I also have two textures like 4b/4c I have lot of coarse and wiry in the center of my hair. I always do the boxbraids because I don't want to touch my hair that much and just let it grow out and it grows, but there's just too much breakage. does anyone know if there's a reason for it? or is it just that boxbraids aren't good for my hair. Younger ladies hair does grow a little faster, However I'm 42 and I've had a hysterectomy....my hair growth has not changed. I just reduced the products I use (keep it simple), Keep my hair in a low manipulation style (mini twists), I do ayervedic treatments every other month. I don't need a leave in, a moisturizer, a twisting gel, and a hair butter on my hair all at once that's just to much crap. I just use a leave in and my oil. I mud wash monthly, I shampoo weekly with Camille rose ginger rinse.

    The school my daughter boards at cut her hair and I can't seem to get it to grow back fast enough. She has very thick strong hair and it always seems dry. She's not allowed to go to hair care there so I had to give her some steps to take care of her hair herself. Her hair actually holds moisture so it was starting to mildew in the middle because she kept wash and go, her hair is just way to thick for that. Any suggestions: even though her hair holds water moisture it looks dry all the time
