The Peruvian transportation industry is fueled by repeating top tier cinematic masterpieces. On my 20 hour bus ride from Arequipa to Cusco I was blessed with watching Paul Blart mall cop 2 on repeat. I really felt like I was missing context from the first Paul Blart film, but after the third watch I truly was able to appreciate it for the masterpiece that it is.

In 1993 i took a bus from Cusco to Arequipa through the night. We saw robocop, Karate Kid 3 and a Mexican Sexy Comedy and 5 minutes into the Mexican film. The tv sparked and fried. The bus driver wasn't even phased lol. Then he told me he was in the Shining Path and wanted to kill Fujimouri but that is another story lol

Never mind Peru. Back in the 80s/90s as a student I used to take long coach journeys across the UK - 8-9 hours - and we were treated to such delights as National Lampoon's Vacation. These were the days before noise cancelling headphones. So it was brutal.

Suggestion: Idk how's your schedule after Venezuela, but since you're in the Amazon, you could take a boat to the Brazilian Amazon and stop by Manaus and Santarém. Alternatively, coming from Venezuela, you could enter Brazil by its northenmost state and you can even climb the insanely beautiful Roraima Mount (that square mountain that inspired the movie "Up" and has the highest waterfall in the world).
But anyway, south of Santarém, there is a ghost town in the middle of freaking nowhere. It's called Fordland, and it's where Henry Ford himself sent his men and machinery to build an utopian american city in the middle of the Amazon in order to extract rubber for his car's tires. And boy, did it go wrong! It's a pretty eerie place with a fantastic and unknown history.
The lack of good content about this city is criminal, you should 100% go there.
I'm a tour guide in Santarém and I've been to Fordland a few times. Let me know if you need any info!
    Greetings from the Brazilian Amazon!

In japanese language, there is a strict caste system. They speak totally different with those who are above em in society than with those who are below them. Thats why japanese people rarely speak english. Coz in english language there is no caste system at all. So they remain silent. For them its still better than to offend anyone. You can barely interact with japanese people in their own country.

As a Spanish speaking person. Bald Spanish is epic. For example when he said " Capitan cincuenta cincuenta con el" thats honor code. He gave the Captain the whole tip and made sure he used those word and pointed at the Co-Captain. He was watching the whole time. There will be no issues at all. The word is word. Is all how he made sure he added that statement and the tone. If he had used the wrong language and tone they would be all kinds of issues. Not necessarily for amount etc but for principle. Thats master Spanish speaking. Bald another dope video. thanks

that looked like the journey of a lifetime, just on that river boat, seeing all those villages in the middle of nowhere. If the world had an apocalypse, I bet those little villages would keep on as if nothing happened. You inspired me to learn Russian, which I did, now I'm tempted to learn Spanish 😅

Really reminds me of when I lived in Alaska...really similar actually! Many villages there were only accessible by boat, and they mirror things really well to life in the Amazon (of course, the climate is much different, lol). Many Alaskans are so isolated and may never see outsiders for a long time, and visits from boats and/or small cargo airplanes are their only contact with the outside world

You started your journey on the Ucayali River, which many consider the primary tributary of the Amazon. The Ucayali River splits into two for many miles and becomes narrower, which is why you probably felt like you "turned off on a small waterway." I could be wrong about that, however. The Ucayali conjoins again and then with the confluence of the Ucayali and Maranon Rivers near Nauta you officially were on the Amazon River, albeit for an extremely brief period, because you immediately turned back up the Maranon to reach Nauta. It's not that you were just seeing the Amazon River for the first time. You were on the primary portion the entire trip and that view is when it officially comes into existence fully. Iquitos is officially on the Amazon River. What an interesting video! I had questioned in the last video about your plan to get to Venezuela and I assumed you'd travel northwest by car, but no! You are going the adventurous route!
