You know how precocious these videos are from an ethnological point of view? The quick urbanisation and industrialization of China changes the social life in the country and a lot of traditions get lost. So having documents like these where you show step by step the process are a real treasure. Thank you not only for the beauty and harmony you share with us and lighten up our hearts with, but also for preserving the heritage of the village, you live in. Love ♥️
Miriam, your videos make me feel so calm. You have an admirable ability to transfer to us exactly the feeling on what is to be there with you guys. I love to learn more about Chinese culture. Thanks for that
Miriam, I love your channel, it’s my favorite on RUclips. The contents are so wholesome, everyone speaks so respectfully, you and husband is just lovely and sweet towards each other, baby boy Sansan is so cute and everyone in the fam just seem like such good people.
In old traditional Chinese culture, we respect the mother nature and mother land in so many ways. Using the soil to boil the beans was one of it. Love your films and the peace of Chinese life you bring to us. That makes me home sick. I love China and my families in China.
U showed us again, our traditions, our appreciation towards Nature's Goodies. Connecting us back with our roots, otherwise forgotten. Surrounded by all processed canned foods...
How very interesting video. In India they do a similar process using hot sand to "pop" rice. Thank you so much for sharing these traditions and way of life with all of us! Love your videos.
Dear Mariam Thank you so much for your videos. I have learned so much. Your videos make me long for the days in the rural area where we lived off the land. So many precious moments.Your nephew is learning a lot. So glad his grandparents are teaching him.
Because the soft soil on the bottom of the pot can ensure that the soybeans are evenly heated. There is no gap between the soybeans and the bottom of the pot. The heat of the soil wraps the soybeans and makes them more delicious. I'm in Shanxi Province, where people fry soybeans with sand, very soft sand 。its same reason, different ways
Your photography skill is most admired!! And your little kiddo iz super duper adorable!! You both are blessed with that beautiful child!! Greetings from Malaysia!! ❤️❤️❤️🇲🇾🇲🇾🇲🇾
I would like to say the snack is the traditional in Qinghai province of China. There are huge difference in snacks in China between the 31 provinces. Anyway, Like your vedio s. Many thanks.
We call this "kidney bean" cos it looks like shape of kidney. I love to eat it, same goes to my children. We always bought it from the grocery store and they said it from China. Now only I know how it is processed, I used to wonder how it was done. Very delicious. Love from Malaysia
This is my favorite bean as a snack. But we cook the bean by boiling with herbal and salt . It was so delicious--childhood memories --this soil cooking way is only for peanut in central China
This has to be one of loveliest shows ever/and it’s real! Such a shame your husband says many now buy beans -instead of making -these are beautiful traditions
Maybe you should explain why Chinese eat these beans on that day. It is spring and time for planting according to lunar calendar. They want a prosperous year with lots to harvest in the fall.

Thank you for your videos! I'm new to your channel and really enjoying your video/photography skills and all the interesting traditions and moments you share with us!
Is there any way you can change the font on the video? Or make it a darker color ? I find the white font makes it hard to read on a light background, because there is no contrast.😀Thank you . Sharon
With the grey jump suit, San San looks like the 90s British Teletubby, so cute! But I must comment that in the beginning of the clip, looking at the poor disheveled dog being chained makes me feel sad! Hope they can allow dogs to run around. Thanks
Your hubby isn’t quite ‘Jackie chan’ 😆 As for little Sansan, he must have the biggest pockets full of beans. You’re a lovely family Miriam. Where is your nephews Mum? Does she work away, or just dislike being on camera?
Your channel, videos, the vibes, are the most genuine, loving there is on youtube I had ever come acrossed. Simply beautiful. God bless u and your family (even though i dont believe in god:)

Awwww it's so cute when he takes the beans💜
He's adorable and he gets to do what kids do. No yelling or stopping from anyone. No fuss. It's beautiful to watch.

In love watching your family and the simple, natured life you have in rural China. Beautiful vlog.

I noticed how sweet that was.

Excellent video! Childhood was so natural!
so interesting! thank you for sharing the customs of China with us. Wonderful filming!
As a Chinese, this is the first time I see people cook beans in this way, maybe this method is only in Qinghai province, very west in China.
@@haowen3964 In Liaoning, we cook chestnut this way too.
These family videos are so precious. Thank you ! Love from California 💕🌷
At my childhood, we used to buy the cooked beans like these for snacks to eat... And we loved them too much... And now i know where they wete from.
4:46 is my favorite part. 😁😁😁

This sand-frying method is pretty common in India as well. Common usage of this method include puffed rice, whole roasted peanuts, popcorn, etc.
Exactly!

I don't think it's kidney beans; more like runner beans.
@curiouslysimple TQ for correcting it.
@curiouslysimple You're right.
when I was young in Cannton ,this bean we call 蘭花豆,we just fire it in the wok until the skin of the bean crack
看起来像蚕豆

I've seen this video at Bilibili and really enjoyed it, especially the way the beans explode, so cool!
Beautiful video. We also use coarse sand to fry chestnuts
In Greece, we love fava beans fresh or dry.
Love those beans. I'm on my last packet, sighhhhhh.

Same way , we do it with the peanuts in Mauritius island .
What a sweet couple!
My mom told me, when she was growing up in Afghanistan, they used to cook popcorn the same way!
That's so cool that the soil n the beans r popping thank u for sharing this video w/all of us 👍😇💝⛪stay blessed Mariam n ur family
I wonder if the soil added minerals that needed replenished after a hard winter?
We roast nuts, especially peanuts and pine nuts like this in Pakistan too. The sand is fine like the one in China, but the colour is black.
When you roast many time, the sand or stones turn black because of the oil.The nuts. They can be reused.

Now that’s what you call playing with your food.
Very interesting method of roasting beans. Sansan looks like he is dressed very warm for the cold season in China.
This vid is very relaxing and peaceful to watch.
好懷念吃這種蠶豆😋有一種獨特的香氣😋吃起來嘎吱嘎吱的😋一顆可以吃很久😚太美味了香噴噴的😋😋😋
