I've done baked brie for NYE for the last two years and it always delights! Sometimes I usually bake it right inside a sort of bread bowl of something crispy and nice, and last year I added a layer of Amur honey and cranberry jam. It was the best party food I've ever made.
Let’s take a minute to appreciate John. Unlike some other cooking channels where the person wastes time and talks a lot about some random things, and their videos are super long. John gets right into the recipe within seconds and his videos are quick and his recipes are amazing and simple. My favourite cooking channel💛💛
I love this, but I wrap my Brie wheel in a Puff pastry sheet. Before the puff pastry is folded over, I put a jelly/marmalade/jam and berries and/or nuts. Then seal the pastry, egg wash and OMG it is delicious. Some of my favorite combos are Apricot jelly and cranberries and a few slivers of sliced almonds. Orange Marmalade and cranberries, for Thanksgiving all I had was grape jam and pecans so that’s what I used and it was a hit!
Next time cook down 1 onion until its carmelized. Add a dash of balsamic vinegar to the onions towards the end. You can still do your fruit preserves and then even some crispy bacon pieces. Those 3 things together with a puff pastry wrapped brie…you’ll never go back to just fruit and nuts.
I've been watching John since the start of the pandemic, and have been trying his recipes here and there. What I like most about his vids is how he always says "So Let's Get Started!" in a voice that says "This is going to be fun!!". You can almost *see* the Happy Face emoji when he says it...!!!
Made this today and it was GONE in record time! People appreciated the rosemary garnish too!!! Cooking and anesthetics! It's why I love the Preppy Kitchen!
That looks delicious. Thanks so much for a very full year of fantastic recipes to try out. Happy New Year! Can't wait to see what you come up with for 2023.
John I fell in love with your apple tart, subscribed and have followed since. My hubby surprised me with your cookbook for Christmas. He read through the entire book and cannot wait for me to make him all the yummy things 😄
Taking a break from the annual New Year's party and the family was just wondering what to do. Naturally we need a few treats to munch and baked brie sounds perfect. Thanks for the idea John!
I must say…that Brie/cracker/ fruit platter looks Ah-mazing!! nothing finer that a beautifully baked Brie and all the accompanying bits and pieces to go with it, it was making my salivary glands go craaaazy!! Thank you so much as per usual for sharing with us and I can’t wait for the next one lol. Have a great week and New year!! 🤩Tina🤩
This is exactly what I was looking for , we are having New year's at our house many people to feed .....can't wait to make it....Happy New Year John and family ❤️
I did this for Christmas open house but instead of honey I warmed caramel sauce. Sooo good. I also cut slits in the top once cheese was on the plater and the cheese oozed up and over the sauce. Was such a hit.
Brie is my favorite cheese!!! Melted brie - even better! Although when you eat cold/room temp brie, you really can't imagine it getting better. It is the true 8th Wonder of the world.
Baked brie is my criptonite...I love mine with drizzle of balsamic vinegar reduction, or pomegranate molasses, fig jam and toasted walnuts, or with poached pears ( simple syrup, thyme and lemon zest), honey and toasted hazelnuts...fresh crusty rye or sourdough bread...coming to think of it am going to make one now 😋
Brie is sooooo expensive in Singapore!!! :( Why did you make this video, I have cravings!! Now I'm going to spend a fortune on cheese 😂 (love your videos really). Happy new year to you and your family!
Wonderful video! I'm not sure I am grateful you showed me the Fine Cheese Company ( I LOVE EVERYTHING THEY HAVE) Thank you for this video! I subscribed.
I love your show, thank you so much. Please can you show us some make ahead freezer: Cakes, main meals etc - I find myself more in control when foods have been prepared in advance, just thaw and reheat etc - calms my anxiety because I need to be in control 😊 newly subscribed to your amazing cooking shows, bless you and your family this New Year 😊💞
Love your videos, love the Brie but totally LOVE your platter - I’ve got a thing for beautiful crockery too John! Happy holidays from Oriana in Australia
😂 bought all sorts of random stuff at the store before watching this. I did get the triple crème and the rosemary olive oil triscuits. Also have Nana’s sweet tomato chutney!
Just made a big cookie platter yesterday featuring your hot chocolate marshmallow cookie, it looked so beautiful and abundant. Can’t wait to try this one for the new year! Happy Holidays to everyone!

I hate the taste of the casing around brie so I always cut it off. Seems like this would be an awesome platter to make, but in my case, I'd take the casing off, put the brie in a bowl and slightly warm it up. Maybe serve with a spoon. 🤤🤤
I bake Brie in the winter and love it. I get a beautiful white Brie like you used at one store. But if I go to this other grocery store the rind is worn down, brown and smells rancid. The cheese people there told us that is what it is supposed to be like… I just can’t try it. It grosses me out. Is that true??
Baked cheese? My tummy gurgles in excitement!! Cause screw intolerance I’m gonna eat this!!
LOL, worth it!
@@PreppyKitchen I just got your cookbook in the mail. It’s a 10!!!
I will pay dearly
I’m pretty sure Brie cheese doesn’t contain lactose so enjoy!
@@olivia7sam Brie cheese is a milk cheese, but it was well worth it. Lol

your biggest fan! 💯
Try serving it with sourdough bread as it would be in France 😋 It'll be easier to scoop/wipe too!
You were given another nod this time from James versus Julia. You're getting a name all over RUclips.
I was literally just thinking a few days ago that I should suggest you do a Brie en Croûte! Maybe a later video?
This is really nice for quick unexpected guests. Since we are on cheese, could you do a fondue?
Unwrap. Stick in oven. Done.
Amazing!
I love baked brie!!!

I've always been cooking brie like this but I put homemade "confit de poivrons" on top of it while cooking 😋 and serve it with homemade croûtons
You had me at baked Brie 😳
I want to cry every time I hear the word "melty" ahhhh. otherwise I love this recipe!!! thank you!!!
I loved this! Haven’t had it in a bit. 🧀
Thanks! I never knew if you eat the white coating on the cheese or not. 😏Now I know!
Oh please tell us about the gorgeous platter(s). Where, what… thx!
