Great review. Arrma is awesome. The upgrades needed on all Arrma BLX cars: servo, servo mount, maybe servo arm and saver, front and rear chassis brace and I think that’s pretty much it. They are the most durable cars out there IME.
just recently got back into hobby grade rc. i bought a cheap 37$ jjrc q36 rc its 4wd and hits about 20 mph has a few mm thick metal chassis and all for that price. also has ball bearings for the axles. comes with 2s 400mah lipo and charger.
the diff gears are what is called powdered metal. it's plenty strong enough. if it were machined it would cost 5 times more. that one may have been a bad one. but keep in mind with all that power, things will break. that servo is more than fast enough for bashing. I would recommend everyone to buy a pin press to change out the driveshaft pins. of course you can use a block of wood and a pin punch but the tool is easier to use. this way you can change out the pins in the driveshaft instead of the whole driveshaft. saves you a ton of money. as for the wires on the motor coming loose, this is why racers solder them.
The diff gears are a known issue in the kraton/talion/outcast/arrma. As far as 5 times, that's not true....typical "pot metal" gears, like for Axial rigs are about $20, where as the machined steel versions are about $35. The issue isn't really the servo, (although it's not fast to my liking) but the flimsy plastic servo mount.
@@TheRCNetwork 20 to 35 is a 15 increase. Thats a lot for 1 part. Keep in mind there is 3 diffs with 2 in each. That means it would raise the cost of the truck $45. im sure theyve done the math on all of this. Machining a million gears isnt cheap. Youd also be surprised all the parts on your real car made with powdered metal. Ball joints for one.
blue03r6 I was referring to the bevel gear in Axial’s - much larger than the internal gear inside the Outcast’s diffs. BTW, almost every 1/8th scale race buggy uses machined internals.....the price is not that far off to include these....but this is my opinion after running this truck, after all, I’m reviewing it and giving MY opinion as an expert.
I have an outcast I love it, it is super fast w 6s, it's tough, will do rolling and standing back flips. stock gearing is plenty for me for long really long batt. runs. I USE 8,000 LIPOS...LOVE IS ARRMA OUTCAST...
Hey Rich, I really enjoy going back to watch your older videos to see how well some RCs withstand the test of time. Barring the untouchable MT410, I still appreciate the Outcast for $500. Ignoring the size difference, and trying to match what comes out of my pocket, which would you prefer between Outcast and Proline MT?
The Outcast, hands down. The Pro-Line trucks have a ton of issues....which is why i never did a review on either. The Outcast isn't perfect either...but closer to the MT410 than the ProMT ever would be
I really enjoyed this vid. Excellent work. Great to hear honest opinion on pros and cons with good reason for them. Also really appreciate showing what did break. Cars break when you bash hard.... even the really good ones. Looks like massive fun as expected. What rc bashing rigs r all about. Thumbs up!👍
I passed on this rc just personally wasn't exicted about the looks etc. But I do own the Nero and just picked up the Senton becasuse I was so happy with Arrma overal with the Nero.
Awesome review thanks for the honest truth and showing us what broke n how hard u drove it seems typical ARRMA tough, I still can't decide between the outcast or the kraton to add to our fleet of 1/5 scale Baja's n my beloved senton
Keaton 6s is a absolute animal!!! I got one few days ago on my channel and did Unboxing... I'm getting the notorious 6s next... Get the kraton 6s v4 first!!!!
idk the spider gears seem to be a fluke, I have put my arrma kraton 6s through absolute hell for 2 years on 6s and never have I split a diff gear apart even with shimmed nothing(need to install shims) Only once did I blow up the center diff when the plastic diff cup let the screws out from being serviced too many times... Remedied with Hot racing diff cups all round....
lol @ "like the last day on earth" i keep seeing that the center diff is leaking from the factory and doesnt have any fluid in it when you take it out of the box. i love this truck though. nice work
Hi Rich. Thanks for the vid. Did I see you comment that of all the arrmas the Typhon is your favorite? If so can you tell me why? Looking to see if you reviewed it.
Notorious will "stunt" easier than the longer wheel base kraton. you can easily control the notorious in the air - front flips, backflips, etc. The Kraton is much more stable
that was a kick ass review Brother Rich that thing is definitely a Bad Mamma Jamma no doubt about it you did put that thing through hell now we know what we can do if we get one I think everybody should have one of these arrma kraton is definitely stepping outside the box men happy holidays my good friend
Good review it's an awesome truck and I would love to get one but it would just have to wait in line on my bucket list. I'm still interested in collecting some released vintage RC cars. 🖒😉
the engine wire's that pull out you can use shrinkwrap or maybe silicon line (for nitro car) to keep it in place? but looks very good the car! nice vid
Rich, You can get an aftermarket servo mount for the Kraton, Senton and Talion and from the looks it might also fit the Outcast??? Also on the steering you can replace the brass bushings with bearings between those two mods they made my Kraton and Senton turn 110% better than stock and it also makes the workload on your servo much easier so they last longer
The RCNetwork I have one of those aluminum ones on my Senton and it rocks...I upgraded my Kraton before those aluminum mounts were available so I used an old aluminum A frame style servo mount from Traxxas but that reqired drilling extra holes in the chassis which I don't like doing normally but it was the only choice at the time both options work great but the custom mount on fb is far prettier and easier to install but it cost twice as much...but still the best
I understand a lot of Outcast owners have experienced servo failure. Is is because of the servo itself or all the flex from the servo mount? Please reply and thanks.
great review, I'm liking for a new basher, I owned an emaxx, erevo, savage flux. never owned an arma, what is a better choice for all out bashing? this vehicle or a nero? thanks.
Love your vids....at 05:49 you are saying "nothing plastic broke" but isn't the left edge of that A-Arm broken/cracked? Again, thanks for all of the content you produce, I really like your style of video production.
Just got my Arrma Outcast. One hard case LiPo battery right now. Looking to add probably 2 more. Is it really that important to have a hard case battery, or would a soft case be good enough for just small jumping, flipping, and sliding?
Monster Yoda hardcase Lipos are recommended for off road vehicles - it’s a precaution to keep everything safe. I’ve used soft packs in these trucks before - 1 run on a 6s pack and it was severed and unusable after and a couple of 3s packs that only saw a couple of runs before I was not comfortAble risking the truck using them.
Can you please tell me which one is better this one or the kraton ?? I’m planning to buy one since 2 months and cannot keep up my mind and choose one yet ... Thanks a lot ,,, your video is very informative and useful...
For 1/8th scale metal (aluminum in this case) is the only way to go. I've only bent an aluminum chassis once - and it was the Arrma Kraton doing some stupid stuff. The Outcast has a shorter chassis than the Kraton. So as long as you're not casing jumps or lawn darting it, you'll be fine
Main difference? Short wheelbase or long wheelbase. The Outcast can wheelie easier and do back flips/front flips easier. The Kraton is a bit more stable
I don't think we will see a better servo mount. In Arrma's defense, the servo mount acts as a serv o saver if you will. HD gears will also be something that may never happen.
nice review, i hope that i could have the money for it, but i just purchassed a slash 4x4 platinium. By the way, what is the music for your intro and outro ?
Body resembles a mid to late 70s ford with 2016 Chevy HD fenders. Almost got the body for a scale build I was doing till I saw how disproportionate it really was so I passed on it. Cool body nontheless.
Looking to get into one of the 6s Arrmas. I'm not looking to get into speed runs just a bit of everything. Such as good speed, bashing ability, and overall fun. Is there a better choice than the Outcast/ Notorious in th Arrma line up?
The Outcast/Notorious is really fun. It's quick to wheelie due to the short wheelbase. The Kraton will be a bit more stable, since it has a longer chassis. I would skip the Talion - just mostly for speed runs now.
Depending on your skill set on building and outfitting an RC, the MT410 is the ultimate MT, hands down. IF RTR or instant gratification is the goal....the Outcast is my favorite Arrma at the moment
List tires and body styling as negatives. Go on to rave about how you love both later. OK Thoughts on the wing: I think its great for protecting the body. Land hard a few times on the truck bed and you'll destroy the body... I learned that with E-Revo and E-Maxx BL models. Those diff gears look super tiny for 1/8 scale/6s power. Yikes
I like the tires for how they worked, not necessarily that they're a copy of the Pro-Line Badlands. As for the Body, it doesn't appeal to many people, but I happen to like the 60's pick up truck look. The diffs have worked out fine in the Arrma's.....you can't say that about the Traxxas line up
Mark Pelto I disagree on your assessment of this truck and traxxas diff gears or traxxas at all. I had both a brushless e maxx and e revo and sold them with all my other traxxas stuff. I now have replaced them with the outcast and tekno mt410. Both are better than any traxxas. By the time I upgraded my e maxx to be almost as durable as my two now I had over $1000 in it. And the doffs were still crap. Traxxas is overpriced and over rated with plastic axles and everything else. For the price of my upgraded e maxx I bought both an mt410 and an outcast and haven't had to upgrade either and diff gears have been great. I learned the hard way about traxxas and others do too everyday I'm afraid to say. Tekno mt410 is the best 1/8 scale on the market.
1. My comment about the diffs is based 100% on the impression of scale given in this video. I will gladly mention that I have no factual information to back up this opinion, but I highly doubt that diff is as strong as even the Traxxas stuff. They just look tiny and weak. Diffs are a part commonly overlooked in a basher, and 'budget' brands like Arrma, Duratrax, Helion, ECX and others have traditionally suffered in this department to keep production costs down. 2. The only reason I brought up Traxxas was the wing mount. The reviewer said he didn't like the wing. My comment was it protects the body. I tore up so many bodies on my E-Maxx, but on the E-Revo they lasted way longer and didn't rip the beds off the back or destroy the rear body post area because the wing protected it. That was my only point when bringing up Traxxas in the first place. But since you seem to want to bash Traxxas so much, I'll take the opposite side and try to defend them a bit. Sorry you felt the need to upgrade every component and spend over $1k to try and make it bulletproof, but that is where you messed up. You only need to upgrade a few things, RPM arms and hubs mainly. On 6s you're going to break stuff... it happens, and its part of the fun. The problem comes when you get obsessed with durability and try to upgrade everything. The more stock you can keep it, the better. Most alloy stuff is garbage. Its pretty, but its heavy and has no flex. Plastic is your friend. Control where the weak point is, and plan to replace the cheapest/easiest part. Look at spur gears, they're $3.50.... people try to run $50 stainless gears and upgraded slippers, billet tranny parts... it doesn't work. You upgrade a $3 part so you can break a $20 axle... OK! Keep the plastic spur, replace it every now and then... who cares. I don't expect any RC to take all the abuse I put it through - I expect to break parts, and I will upgrade as necessary. The plastic axles are just fine. Anyone that breaks them all the time is either running a spool, has their slipper set too tight, or has no throttle control. I worked in the RC Industry for 10+ years, and have owned just about every brand and type of vehicle imaginable and I will say the Traxxas stuff is plenty tough. 3. I'm happy for you that you love your Tekno MT410, but it has nothing to do with my comment. Its essentially just an 1/8 buggy with long arms and big tires - I would expect it to be tough! The only problem is, it isn't that cheap. By the time you buy the electronics and put it together its well over the cost of the "overpriced" Traxxas you mentioned.
Mark Pelto sorry to interrupt this great conversation, but unless you have owned an Arrma 6s vehicle or the Tekno, it’s hard to comment on it...I’ve owned 8 of the Arrma’s now and the MT410.
....which is precisely why I pointed out that my own opinion/impressions were baseless. I am not saying the truck is junk, I'm not even stating that the diffs are weak, all I tried to say was they *looked* weak as a first impression, based on the evidence presented in the video. I made no comment on the MT410, didn't even bring it up in the first place. I'm sure they're both fine vehicles, sorry to offend anyone.
Down here in Australia that thing would come me around 800 bucks, and an Xmaxx would be around 1.5k, pretty shit prices, and the 3s arrmas are 550 dollars
Hey. Love the vids. I'm in the market for an rc. I've narrowed it down between the outcast or kraton. I can't decide. Any preference? I'm literally about to flip a coin. My main concer for the outcast is the front end lifting constantly and being annoying. Did you find this to be an issue? Any feedback will help... from anyone!
The Outcasts front end lifts because the chassis is so short....The kraton is a bit longer chassis and won't do that as much. I prefer the Outcast over the two.....and out of all the Arma's - the Typhon
Always honest reviews from you. Now I dont always agree with some of the reviews but they're always honest and provide amazing intel for my next buy everytime. Great job man i look forward to more as usual.
+SuperCoyotecaller I know the point of wings, especially in E buggies that are capable of spoke kind of aerodynamics......but this is a Monster Truck hybrid. No need for a wing
what would be a better basher this, the team redcat b8es or the cen colossus xt? wanting to buy a new rc, and soon, but i just can not decide between these, or unless theres another option......
I've been thinking about getting into the rc car game for a while and after a long process I think I'm gonna go with the arrma outcast,I would greatly appreciate any advice on what you would do to the car ie,checks, upgrades different diff oil and any other purchases to make it a longer lasting beast! also would like to get my 7 yr old girl a rc car would prefer arrma if any ideas please let me know.
The Arrma Outcast is a great choice. I would drive it till you need to upgrade - which will be minimal. For me the Servo mount and new Servo will be my firsts. Then a new body and deleting the wing.
Absolutely love this Arrma creation Outcast. For $500 you really don't need to upgrade much if anything at all it seems. Maybe one day we will see the "perfect" rc.. Don't hold your breath lol Great review my man.
I really don't like sintered gears in RC trucks. By their nature they are very brittle and just can't handle shock loads. Manufacturers are using them because they are cheap and allow them to advertise as all metal but it's just not a good match.
Yep....you can run this on 4s as well as 6s. You'll need either two batteries or singles - the Outcast comes with a plug adapter to accept either two 2s or two 3s packs along with a single 4s or single 6s
hey rc network thanks for your quality vlogs im in australia and i like ozzi rc playground but vas doesn't do much in the hi quality kits as you do so i watch your channel for that! i want to get a tekno mt410 and can you tell me the most powerful tekin truggy motor i could fit in it as it ssems to have minimal room in the chassis?? Glenn
Yeah, since the MT410 uses the buggy chassis, the space is limited...I did use the larger truggy Tekin motor, but it is stacked in there.....As far as most powerful, I am really happy with the 2000kv on 4s. It's plenty! If you do decide to go up to 6s, Tekin recommends the 1350kv 4038 motor....which you will loose some top end speed, but torque will be through the roof!
My favorite line ever for bashing - "I ran this thing like it was the last day on earth"! Thanks man great review appreciate it.
Thanks Charlie. The Outcast is a great truck
Charlie Fulton My wife actually came up with a good Bash line.. "Drive it like you stole it".
It looks awesome IMO..

tommyd3jr right... in the back, near the skid plate.. 5:48
Nice catch!

From what I've seen, the outcast won't disappoint! I love the looks of the body and I love the rear wing btw

Would love to see this side by side with a revo or summit.Wonder how big it is

Arrma has once stepped up TRaxxas
I was a traxxas guy too until I hot my granite now I want a Typhon lol or I'll just get all the 6s models.
I think both are good soon I will buy myself a granite 4x4 blx and next week I get my rustler 4x4 vxl

Thanks buddy! Yeah, I've never liked wings on my MT's
in terms of after market bodies, will 1/8 monster truck bodies fit the outcast?
Chandler Thomas yes, 1/8th. The Raptor body I did for the MT410 fits nicely - just needs some trimming by the wing, if you leave it
Great review bro 🍻
Thanks buddy! Be sure to subscribe
Great job as always brother
Thanks David!
First bash on 4s the wing broke off and plastic screws popped out.
You can't repeatedly land on the wing 😉
The wing fasteners are just not durable they are plastic screws and they pop out easy. I put some metal screws and it's much better.
So it’s almost ready to run since u have to get ur own batteries
Most RC's these days are ARTR with the issues on shipping Lipos with the RC's. Plus the added cost of including batteries...then chargers

Arrma ended up making a newer version of the servo mount and it's much stronger
nice review, i hope that i could have the money for it, but i just purchassed a slash 4x4 platinium. By the way, what is the music for your intro and outro ?
got review on the Kraton?
Great review, thanks for sharing 👍
And thanks for watching!
Goto the 1/8th Arrma Facebook page and ask for Greg Brandt and get his GKA Aluminum parts and upgrade it and do a GKA review.
Yep, he's the guy!
Body resembles a mid to late 70s ford with 2016 Chevy HD fenders. Almost got the body for a scale build I was doing till I saw how disproportionate it really was so I passed on it. Cool body nontheless.
Hey man I am getting one of these what battery should I get?
Looking to get into one of the 6s Arrmas. I'm not looking to get into speed runs just a bit of everything. Such as good speed, bashing ability, and overall fun. Is there a better choice than the Outcast/ Notorious in th Arrma line up?
The Outcast/Notorious is really fun. It's quick to wheelie due to the short wheelbase. The Kraton will be a bit more stable, since it has a longer chassis. I would skip the Talion - just mostly for speed runs now.
hey, this truck is one 1\8 or 1\10 scale? he look smaller than 1\8 scale.
Def 1/8th scale
I'm seriously debating this vs a kraton, vs tekno mt410
Depending on your skill set on building and outfitting an RC, the MT410 is the ultimate MT, hands down. IF RTR or instant gratification is the goal....the Outcast is my favorite Arrma at the moment
looks good man awesome review held up good but i would never jump mine that high hell no
Yeah, I put it through some extremes
List tires and body styling as negatives. Go on to rave about how you love both later. OK
Thoughts on the wing: I think its great for protecting the body.
Yeah, Aus has some crazy prices!
Is this faster or the new e-rovo? Which would be better?
Ford or Chevy? It's a hard call....but IMO, the Arrma gives you more bang for your buck. The new E Revo has a LOT of plastic
Always honest reviews from you. Now I dont always agree with some of the reviews but they're always honest and provide amazing intel for my next buy everytime. Great job man i look forward to more as usual.
Good deal. Thanks for watching!
whats the part number for those spiider gears? might order me some just incase
amzn.to/2iaSmTR
Great review 👍🏻
Thanks Phil!
Debating on the Kraton V2 and the Outcast, same price for both but I really don't know...
get the kraton i jus got one I promise u won't b disappointed
+Justin Trinh both are great, easy to work on. It's mostly looks that are the difference.
Justin Trinh get both of them both are awesome
Can anyone tell me how much those aluminum chassis braces and servo mounts are from GKA?
Holy shit, such a great review!
Thanks buddy!
Wing is more to level out rc when doing long jumps.
Travis Compton Outcast by far.
Guys help! Can i put Bigger monster tires on Typhon? i want to turn it into a monster truck. Is it okay?
Absolutely love this Arrma creation Outcast. For $500 you really don't need to upgrade much if anything at all it seems. Maybe one day we will see the "perfect" rc.. Don't hold your breath lol
Great review my man.
Always good to see you in the comments! Thanks for the great comments
Great truck!
Thanks sl!
Outcast 4s or 6s? Is 6s more durable
Yes, 6s is more durable/robust as it's meant for more voltage/power/speed
I really don't like sintered gears in RC trucks. By their nature they are very brittle and just can't handle shock loads. Manufacturers are using them because they are cheap and allow them to advertise as all metal but it's just not a good match.
They do have their place in RC, but at this scale and power, they should be hardened/machined steel
Hi there, may I ask? Can I run this on 4s for my younger son as well as 6s?
Yep....you can run this on 4s as well as 6s. You'll need either two batteries or singles - the Outcast comes with a plug adapter to accept either two 2s or two 3s packs along with a single 4s or single 6s
Gotcha. Thanks.
hey rc network thanks for your quality vlogs im in australia and i like ozzi rc playground but vas doesn't do much in the hi quality kits as you do so i watch your channel for that! i want to get a tekno mt410 and can you tell me the most powerful tekin truggy motor i could fit in it as it ssems to have minimal room in the chassis??
"nothing broke as far as plastic goes", just as you see the broke A arm on the left side haha
Yeah, didn't even see that 😬
@@TheRCNetwork haha, was funny :p good video tho, keep it up=)
really good video 👍
Thanks Marco!
Is it more tougher than kraton?
They're pretty similar. Id say the Outcast/Notorious is a bit tougher, because of the shorter wheelbase
Should i buy this or the kraton ?
go with the Nero ;-)
+ThatsMyRc too expensive for me :(
can only afford the outcast or the kraton
I personally like the Outcast over the Kraton
I wonder if the fazon or the outcast is faster?
I'm sure the Fazon is.....the Outcast wants to lift on full throttle.... The Fazon can be tuned via the locking diffs
I'm saving up to get one !
Nice!
Could you fit the proline or traxxas 2018 ford raptor body on this?
for SCT? Def no on that
cool truck next on the list...lol thats where i take my cars to play too..Lake Forest behind carls jr.
Nice! been going there for years!
What’s the difference between this and the natorious?
Pretty much, just the body
The RCNetwork ah alright thanks
Do you happen to know what Version this is? V1?
Yes, the original
